The Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker T.J. Watt is feared to have suffered a Grade 3 left MCL sprain, a source revealed on Saturday. The 29-year-old player landed awkwardly following his second sack in the 17-10 victory over the Baltimore Ravens on Saturday after colliding with a teammate Montravius Adams. While eager to return to the team following the hit, the Steelers ruled Watt out for the remainder of the game.

“Obviously, man, T.J. is a big part of not just our defense but our team,” fellow Steelers linebacker Elandon Roberts commented. “Great leader, great guy, on and off the field. I’m hoping it’s not as bad. … From a standpoint of our team — not just our defense but our team — we definitely don’t want to see T.J. go down.”

Steelers coach Mike Tomlin expressed optimism that Watt would not be out for an extended period, adding that he expects to provide more information on Watt’s injury status during his next press conference. Having won their final regular-season game, the Steelers will await the results of Sunday’s games to learn if they will qualify for the playoffs.

“Kwon Alexander has a serious lower-body injury,” Steelers coach Mike Tomlin announced after the game. “He’s being evaluated but not promising there.” Second-year linebacker Mark Robinson took over from Alexander while Elandon Roberts took over on-field communication in Alexander’s absence.

Alexander signed with the Steelers during training camp. He previously tore his Achilles tendon on Christmas Day 2020 when he was still playing for the New Orleans Saints. On that occasion, he was able to return after just nine months on the sidelines.

The Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker Cole Holcomb was carted off during the first quarter of his side’s 20-16 win over the Tennessee Titans on Thursday night. Coach Mike Tomlin later revealed that the linebacker had suffered a “serious” knee injury.

Matched up with wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins, Holcomb was tackled by Titans quarterback Will Levis. As Steelers safety Keanu Neal came in to tackle Hopkins, he clattered into Holcomb’s knee on the way down. The linebacker immediately collapsed, with trainers running out to assist him. He was then carted off the field.

Tomlin explained that while there is no further clarity on Holcomb’s injury, his “thoughts and prayers” are with the player. He added that the team would likely have an update on the situation the next time they reconvene.

The Pittsburgh Steelers’ linebacker core seems to be getting thinner with each game they play. After losing key starter Bud Dupree to a torn ACL against Baltimore Ravens last week, the Steelers will now also be without linebacker Robert Spillane, who got hurt in Monday’s loss to Washington.

Spillane is reportedly dealing with a left knee injury, and the team expects him to miss several weeks. However, the 24-year-old player won’t need surgery and should return before the 2020 NFL season wraps up.

This is a further blow for Pittsburgh’s defense, considering Spillane was having a very solid year. He had one interception returned for a touchdown in 2020, while also contributing with 56 tackles, two sacks, and four pass deflections.

Prior to losing Dupree and Spillane, Steelers were already missing All-Pro linebacker Devin Bush, who is out for the season after suffering an ACL injury early in the season. They also can’t count on backup Ulysees Gilbert, with the 2019’s sixth-round pick landing on the injured reserve in November.

Pittsburgh will now most likely turn to veteran Avery Williamson, who arrived from the NY Jets before the trade deadline. Williamson has only played on 81 snaps for the Steelers so far, recording 12 tackles. However, this may be a solid opportunity for him to prove his worth.

Steelers’ wide receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster is listed as questionable for Sunday’s game against the Ravens. The Steelers are hoping he will be able to play in the important AFC North showdown.

Pittsburgh’s star receiver injured his toe early in the game Monday night, the same toe that was hurt in Week 1 against New England. Although JuJu was doing the bare minimum in Friday’s practice, offensive coordinator Randy Fichtner predicts that he will be ready to go on Sunday.

Smith-Schuster caught a career low 15 receiving yards with his hurt toe against the Bengals. Even if he is not 100%, his presence on the field is enough to put pressure on the struggling Baltimore defense in an important divisional game.

Running back James Conner injured his ankle against the Bengals as well, but participated in Friday’s practice and should be ready to go by Sunday.

More than 60,000 people at Heinz Field thought the Pittsburgh Steelers season has come to an unsuccessful end when they saw team’s star wide receiver Antonio Brown unable to stand on his feet in the second quarter of the game against the New England Patriots. Brown tried to catch a pass in the end zone but got sandwiched between two Patriots’ players. He was escorted from the field and didn’t return to the game later.

Although the Steelers were afraid of a major injury that could end Brown’s season, luckily that was not the case. According to the ESPN‘s sources, Antonio Brown suffered a partially torn calf muscle and will miss the next game, but is expected to make a return in the playoffs.

With Brown out for the better part of the game, the Steelers couldn’t hold on and suffered a 24-27 defeat against the Patriots. The team’s head coach Mike Tomlin said to the reporters that Brown’s injury certainly affected the team’s game plan.

It changes. A.B. is significant,” – said Tomlin. “But I thought the guys did a nice job of adjusting and making plays largely. You lose somebody like A.B. and there’s an adjustment.

Antonio Brown has been playing phenomenally for the Steelers this season, recording 101 receptions for 1,533 yards and 9 touchdowns. On the game against the Patriots, he also became the first receiver in NFL history to have more than four consecutive seasons with 100 or more receptions. Brown’s performance even elevated him to the MVP conversations.

[Brown] deserves to be an MVP candidate, if not the MVP,” – said Steelers’ quarterback Ben Roethlisberger. “The first WR to get it, I don’t know anyone more deserving. What he’s capable to do every week is spectacular. I’m happy to be a part of it and do my little part. It’s so much fun to watch him.”
