It seems Odell Beckham Jr.’s hip injury is worse than it was assumed at first. Speaking with reporters on Thursday, Cleveland Browns’ wideout admitted that he isn’t at 100 percent and that the injury still bothers him.

Beckham was limited throughout the training camp and didn’t participate in any Browns’ preseason games due to these struggles. It is unclear when and how the injury happened, but the 26-year-old Pro Bowler said that he knew something was off in early August.

“This is something I’ve never had to deal with,” – said Beckham about the injury. “It’s like an extremely fast car with like a little alignment or something off. And it’s right in the center of what you need.”

Still, the injury won’t stop Beckham from playing in Cleveland’s season opener on Sunday against Tennessee Titans. This will also be the first time he wears Browns’ jersey in an NFL game.

“It’s getting better,” – he added. “It’s as good as it’s going to be until the season starts. It’s something that hopefully that keeps progressing and gets better and not worse.”

Cleveland Browns traded for Odell Beckham in March, sending Jabrill Peppers and their 2019 first round pick (17th overall) to New York Giants in exchange. They were hoping that Beckham could be the final piece of the puzzle that will bring them back to playoffs for the first time since 2002. If his injury struggles continue, however, they might have a hard time doing that in the crowded AFC North.

New York Giants’ wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. finally received the contract extension he badly wanted. And it was worth waiting for it since the 25-year-old Pro Bowler will be the highest paid WR in NFL with this new contract.

According to ESPN‘s Josina Anderson, Beckham agreed to a five-year extension, worth $95 million ($19 million per year) with $65 million guaranteed. This means that he will surpass Antonio Brown of the Pittsburgh Steelers in yearly average ($17 million per year) and Cincinnati Bengals’ Mike Evans in total guarantees ($55 million guaranteed).

We got him until he’s 108,” – said Giants general manager Dave Gettleman in a statement. “I never worried whether or not we would get it done. I’m pleased because the litmus test for a contract is that neither side is ticked off before the ink can dry, and neither side should be ticked off. It’s a very fair deal.

Odell Beckham Jr. was entering the fifth year of his rookie contract, which would earn him $8.5 million. According to the new contract, he will make $1.459 million in 2018 but is set to receive $20 million signing bonus. This helped the Giants to save $3 million against the cap.

According to Beckham, who was asking for a new deal for almost two years, he knew the deal would be made all along, and it was just “a matter of when.”

Honestly, I don’t even know how to explain it,” – said Beckham said in a statement. “I don’t know if it’s a relief, I don’t know — it’s a combination of everything. You’ve worked all your life to get to this point and it’s finally here. I knew that it would get done; it just was a matter of when. And I’m just so happy that it is finally done now.”

Odell Beckham Jr. only played four games in 2017 before being ruled out for the rest of the season due to an ankle injury. It looks like the injury is now behind him, and he will be ready for the season opener against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

New York Giants saw their offense take a big slip last year when they lost their star wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. in Week 5 due to an ankle injury. While there are is no definite timeline for Beckham’s full recovery, it looks like the 25-year-old is on the right track if we are to believe Giants’ quarterback Eli Manning.

Manning spoke with the reporters on Wednesday during a football camp at Kean University and said that Odell Beckham Jr. “seemed to be his old self” during workouts in June.

Odell looked healthy,” – said Manning according to ESPN‘s Jordan Raanan. “He was running routes full speed, making cuts and seemed to be his old self. So I’m excited about that and that he can go out there and run all the routes.”

Manning also added that he thinks Beckham will “have a big year” in 2018.

So, excited to get him back going once training camp hits up. And getting on the same page, there are always new routes and new tweaks to the offense. But I know he’s been working hard and is going to have a big year.” – he added.

The first-round pick in 2014 NFL Draft, Odell Beckham Jr. is already on his way to becoming one of the NFL’s greats. In 2016, he became the fastest player to reach 200 career receptions and 4,000 career receiving yards. Beckham also has three Pro-Bowl appearances and was named to Second-team All-Pro twice.

There is a lot of uncertainty about receiver Odell Beckham Jr. and his future with the New York Giants. The 25-year-old reportedly wants a new contract which would make him one of the highest paid NFL players and threatened to hold out in the Giants preseason activities which didn’t sit well with the team’s front office. There are also concerns about his off-field behavior and recent scandals he participated in, with the team’s general manager Dave Gettleman recently saying that every player on the roster is tradable including Beckham.

On Monday, however, New York Giants co-owner Steve Tisch decided to put the ball on the ground a bit, saying he hopes his star wide receiver will remain with the team in the future.

Personally, my nature is to be an optimist, and I would like to have Odell on the Giants this coming season.” – said Tisch to reporters on Monday. “He’s a tremendous athlete. He’s a great player. So I do hope that Odell is with the Giants for the 2018 season. I would like that very much.

He also talked about the contract negotiations with the player, saying that they will take place when the time is appropriate.

Odell’s contract will be negotiated at the appropriate time. At the moment, conversations between (Giants GM) Dave Gettleman and Odell’s representatives are at the earliest, most premature stages.” – he said while adding that Odell Beckham Jr. threat to hold out is “hypothetical” at the moment.

Odell Beckham Jr. is entering the fifth year of his contract after the Giants exercised that option in 2017. He is set to earn $8.459 million, all of which became guaranteed on March 14.

After phenomenal first three seasons with the team, in which he became the fastest wide receiver to 200 catches and 3,000 career receiving yards in NFL history, Beckham Jr. suffered an injury in Week 5 of the 2017 and was ruled out for the season.

The year 2017 is the one that the New York Giants‘ wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. will surely want to forget. After suffering an injury in the preseason game against Cleveland Browns, Beckham Jr. was again injured in the Sunday’s loss against Los Angeles Chargers. Although he returned successfully after the first injury, this one will keep him off the field for the rest of the season. After attempting to make a catch in the fourth quarter against the Chargers, Odell fell awkwardly to the ground and suffered fractured left ankle. The tests on Monday confirmed that Beckham will require a surgery.

I spoke to him after the game,” – said the Giant’s coach Ben McAdoo on a conference call. “It’s a sad situation.

Odell Beckham Jr. now ends the 2017 NFL season with 25 catches, 302 yards, and 3 touchdowns. 2017 will also be remembered as the first professional season for Beckham in which he had less than 90 catches, 1,300 yards, and 10 touchdowns.

With Beckham being out for the season, the Giants are now short on receivers. Dwayne Harris fractured his foot and won’t play more this year as well. Brandon Marshall and Sterling Shepard are out with ankle injuries, but should be back soon. With Roger Lewis being the only healthy receiver in on the team, the Giants were forced to look for men to fill their roster. According to sources, they will sign Tavarres King while rookie Travis Rudolph will be brought from the practice squad. After spending the last season with the Giants’ practice squad, Darius Powe will be resigned as well.

The season doesn’t look well for the New York Giants. They already have a 0-5 record, and the thing will probably be even worse without their top 3 wide receivers. On Sunday night, the Giants will face the Denver Broncos, who have the league’s top-ranked defense.

After missing the Sunday’s game against Dallas Cowboys, Odell Beckham Jr. of the New York Giants has returned to practice on Thursday, but in a limited capacity. ESPN reports that Beckham Jr. revealed he has been dealing with a six-to-eight weeks injury. Giant’s wide receiver has suffered a sprained ankle in the preseason game against Cleveland Browns 24 days ago. He was ruled out for the rest of the preseason, while his appearance against the Cowboys was doubtful. Beckam Jr. tested his ankle before the game, but it wasn’t realistic to expect him to play since he hasn’t practiced the entire week.

As bad as I wanted to play, it just wasn’t there. It had been three weeks after the injury. It hasn’t even been a month since it happened. This is a six- to eight-week thing. Unfortunately, as much as I was trying my hardest to get there, it just wasn’t enough time.” – said Beckham.

Being back on the field is surely encouraging for both Beckham and the Giants. He is making progress and was feeling good in Thursday’s practice.

It felt good. It felt good just to be back out there. Something about — it’s just when you put that helmet on, it’s a different mode. When you put the helmet on and go out there and warm up and when we got to individuals, I was running routes. I was feeling pretty good. So, like I said, we’re definitely taking major strides in the right direction. It’s a matter of time.” – said Odell Beckham Jr. about course of his recovery.

The Giants are welcoming the Detroit Lions on September 19 on MetLife Stadium, in Week 2 game. We don’t know whether Beckham will be ready for that game, but one thing is for sure. He really wants to get back on the field and compete as soon as possible.

Monday night saw a clash between New York Giants and Cleveland Browns, which ended in 10-6 win over the Browns. The Giants didn’t only lose the game, but also faced with a bigger problem when their wideout and top offensive weapon Odell Beckham Jr. took a hard hit in the knee from Browns corner Briean Boddy-Calhoun, also banging his head onto the pitch in the process. After picking himself up, Beckham Jr. threw away the helmet and walked to the locker room with a painful look on his face. Television cameras even caught Beckham Jr. rocking back and forth on his knees in the tunnel and trying to ease the pain.

This obviously caused a lot of concerns for the Giants, who are not in the position to lose their most important offensive player. After being cleared for the concussion, X-ray results also came back negative. The official Giants statement is that Odell Beckham Jr. “sustained a sprained ankle” and “will undergo further examination“. This most certainly means he will be out for the rest of preseason but should be back until the opening game of the regular season against the Dallas Cowboys on September 10th. In a post-match interview, when asked about the possibility of him being ready for that game, he said “I don’t know, man. I am pretty concerned, but I think I will be alright.

Odell Beckham Jr. wasn’t the only wide receiver who got hurt in the game. Tavarres King hurt his ankle again, while Brandon Marshall needed to get X-rays on his shoulder. The game against Cleveland Browns saw New York Giants suffering their second defeat in the preseason. Last season saw the Giants finishing with a record of 11-5, having a 10 win season for the first time since 2010. Their playoff run ended in a disappointing defeat against Green Bay Packers, the final result being 38–13 for Packers.
