The Minnesota Vikings’ offense might look a lot different in 2023 compared to some previous seasons. According to multiple reports, the Vikings are looking to offload Pro Bowl running back Dalvin Cook and have been shopping him around the league.

Cook was a Pro Bowler in each of the past four seasons and had four consecutive campaigns with more than 1,000+ yards on the ground. He finished 2022 with 1,173 rushing yards and eight touchdowns while also 39 catches for 295 yards and 2 TDs.

But despite his production, the Vikings reportedly want to move on from Cook sooner than later. His yards per carry dipped in each of the past two campaigns, and he is currently recovering from shoulder surgery. Also, if kept on the team, Minnesota will be responsible for his $10.4 million salary in 2023.

If they trade Cook, the Vikings will probably net a middle-round pick while also clearing out $11 million in the salary cap. They will also get significant salary cap savings if they release the 27-year-old, although that doesn’t sound like a realistic outcome.

Multiple teams are currently monitoring Cook’s situation, with the Miami Dolphins being mentioned as a possible destination. The Dolphins’ head coach Mike McDaniel is known for his creative use of running backs, and Cook would fit perfectly into his system.

The Carolina Panthers is already punting on the 2022 season after a dreadful start to the campaign. The franchise already fired head coach Matt Rule and they now seem to be ready to move on from their star running back Christian McCaffrey.

According to multiple reports, the Panthers have been answering the calls on the face of their franchise and would be willing to trade him if the right offer comes their way. However, it appears that the team isn’t set on moving from McCaffrey at all costs and is content with keeping him around for 2023 if they don’t get their asking price.

While sources close to the Panthers organization say the price is multiple first-round picks for McCaffrey, there is a sentiment that one first-round selection would be enough to land the 26-year-old. The list of interested teams at the moment includes the Buffalo Bills, the Kansas City Chiefs, and the Los Angeles Rams.

After playing only 10 games in the past two seasons due to injuries, Christian McCaffrey managed to remain fairly healthy in 2022. He has rushed for 393 yards and two touchdowns while also catching 33 passes for 277 yards and a score throughout the season’s first six weeks.

McCaffrey, the Panthers’ eighth pick in 2017, has had two All-Pro nods and a Pro Bowl selection since entering the league. He is only the third player in NFL history to record 1,000+ yards rushing and 1,000+ yards receiving in a single season, achieving the feat in 2019.

The Kansas City Chiefs’ high-octane offense will have to keep on running without one of its major pieces. Speedy Pro Bowl wideout Tyreek Hill is leaving Kansas City after the Chiefs traded him to the Miami Dolphins in exchange for picks.

According to the official announcement, the Dolphins parted ways with five draft picks to get Hill. The Chiefs received this year’s No. 29 first-round pick (via San Francisco 49ers), 2022 second-rounder, and fourth-rounder alongside fourth-round and sixth-round selections next year.

As part of the trade, Hill will also receive a new contract from the Dolphins. The player’s agent Drew Rosenhaus told ESPN’s Adam Schefter that the deal is for four years and $120 million and includes $52.5 million in guarantees.

Tyreek Hill’s departure caught everyone off-guard except the Chiefs. As it turns out, Hill was asking for a contract extension that would make him the league’s highest-paid wide receiver, and the franchise was reluctant to make that happen. When it became clear Kansas City won’t accept his demands, the 28-year-old player requested a trade.

The Chiefs acted swiftly and worked the phones until they received satisfactory offers from the New York Jets and the Miami Dolphins. Hill received an opportunity to choose his next destination, and he picked the Dolphins.

Hill entered the league in 2016 as Kansas City’s fifth-round pick. He made the Pro Bowl in each of his first six seasons in the league while earning three First-team All-Pro selections and receiving the NFL 2010s All-Decade Team nod. His career stats include 479 receptions for 6,630 yards and six touchdowns.

The Green Bay Packers managed to mend their relationship with superstar quarterback Aaron Rodgers to keep him with the franchise for the foreseeable future. Unfortunately, however, they didn’t manage to do the same with their superstar wide receiver.

According to multiple reports, the Packers have agreed to trade their All-pro wideout Davante Adams to the Las Vegas Raiders. In exchange for Adams, the Raiders will give up their 2022 first-round pick (No. 22) and this year’s second-rounder (No. 53).

Adams, who was franchise-tagged by the Packers earlier this offseason, will also get a new deal as part of the move. He’s signing a five-year, $142.5 million contract that makes him the best-paid wideout in the league. Not only that, but the 29-year-old player is now the highest-paid non-QB player in terms of average annual value and total value in the history of the league.

Reportedly, the Packers were willing to give Adams the same deal that he received from the Raiders and even top it if required. However, the player wanted a change of scenery and preferred to move on. In addition, some believe he was still disgruntled with the fact that Green Bay didn’t give him an extension last season.

The move gives the Raiders an undisputed No. 1 receiver and playmaker that can make a difference on the offensive end. On the other hand, the Packers will have to rebuild their wideout corps that now only has last year’s second-round pick Amari Rodgers and veteran Randall Cobb as viable options.

Davante Adams is coming off a career year in 2021 in which he had 123 catches, 1,553 yards, and 11 touchdowns. He earned his second consecutive First-Team All-Pro nod and fifth straight Pro Bowl appearance.

The Kansas City Chiefs are having a disappointing start to the 2021 NFL season, with shaky defense being a major reason for their struggles. The Chiefs reportedly attempted to fix some of their issues by trading for Pittsburgh Steelers outside linebacker Melvin Ingram.

According to NFL Network’s Aditi Kinkhabwala, Kansas City made an official trade offer to the Steelers for Ingram but had no success. Despite not using the 32-year-old all that much, Pittsburgh is believed to be reluctant to let him go to an AFC rival.

The player would reportedly welcome a trade as he is unhappy with his playing time with the Steelers. Ingram only started one game this season while playing 64 percent of the team’s snaps on defense. He has 10 tackles, one sack, and six QB hits in six appearances in 2021.

Melvin Ingram, who has three Pro Bowl appearances to his name, spent the first nine years of his career with the Los Angeles Chargers. Ingram left the Chargers after his contract expired following the 2020 NFL season and agreed to a one-year deal with the Steelers. The Chiefs reportedly pursued him in the free agency, but he preferred to move to Pittsburgh.

Kansas City also missed out on several other targets in recent weeks. They were aggressively pursuing Whitney Mercilus after he was released by the Houston Texans, but the veteran linebacker opted to sign with the Green Bay Packers instead.

The Houston Texans’ star quarterback Deshaun Watson is reportedly being pursued by several NFL teams ahead of the NFL’s trade deadline next week. Surprisingly, however, the Carolina Panthers are not among them.

According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, the Panthers won’t be making a move for Watson at the time being despite having a longtime interest in the Pro Bowler. However, this probably doesn’t mean they won’t be in the mix during the offseason if the Texans don’t trade him by then.

Rapoport added that Watson has only agreed to waive his “no-trade” clause in favor of the Miami Dolphins among the interested teams.

The Carolina Panthers have been pursuing Watson ever since the 26-year-old requested a trade from Houston in early 2021. Carolina reportedly made several offers for the Clemson product in the offseason, but neither of them managed to convince the Texans to deal the player.

The Panthers recently started showing interest in Watson again, which coincided with their four-game losing streak. They reportedly made several calls to the Texans, but the asking price that included at least three first-round picks was too steep for the franchise.

Carolina is expected to keep offseason acquisition Sam Darnold under center for the time being. Darnold led the Panthers to a 3-0 start but then experienced a slump that resulted in a four-game losing streak for the franchise.

Despite the Baltimore Ravens losing three of their running backs J.K. Dobbins, Gus Edwards, and Justice Hill for the season, they still managed to keep their ground game on a high level and are currently the fourth-best rushing team in 2021. Reportedly, this put the rest of the league on notice and resulted in multiple trade inquiries coming Baltimore’s way.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, several NFL teams have contacted the Ravens in recent weeks to gauge their interest in trading some members of their current RB core. Baltimore is still waiting on responding to the offers, but it wouldn’t be surprising to see them dealing some of their fringe backs.

A series of bad luck and injuries have caused Baltimore to lose their top three RBs on the depth chart in a span of 10 days. The Ravens bounced back by slotting second-year player Ty’Son Williams as a No.1 back and signing veterans Latavius Murray, Devonta Freeman, and Le’Veon Bell, and have fared exceptionally well so far.

Williams, seeing his first action as a pro this year, has rushed for 164 yards and a touchdown while averaging an impressive 6.1 yards per carry.  Murray, on the other hand, has 151 yards rushing and three touchdowns.

Freeman and Bell, both Pro Bowlers earlier in their careers, have not made a great impact, but that is understandable considering they started their time with the franchise on the practice squad list. Freeman has six rushing attempts for 41 yards, while Bell carried the ball four times and has 11 yards.

Running back Marlon Mack’s time with the Indianapolis Colts has reportedly come to an end. According to multiple reports, the Colts are shopping Mack around the league, and the player isn’t opposed to this scenario.

Mack didn’t find much playing time in 2021, managing only five carries for 16 yards through the first three weeks. Things aren’t expected to get better for the 25-year-old running back as the Colts season progresses, prompting a mutual agreement between the two sides to go their separate ways.

The Colts are currently committed to Jonathan Taylor as their leading runner after the 2020 second-rounder had an impressive rookie season that saw him rush for 1,169 yards and 11 touchdowns. Meanwhile, fourth-year player Nyheim Hines is firmly slotted at the No. 2 spot on the depth chart, especially since inking a three-year, $18.6 million contract extension earlier this month.

Marlon Mack was Indianapolis’ number one option back when entering the 2020 NFL season but suffered a torn Achilles in Week 1 of the 2020 season that sidelined him for the remainder of the season. Mack re-signed with the Colts in March and recovered in time to play this year but found a very different landscape upon his return.

In his four years as a Colt, Mack rushed for 2,383 yards and 20 TDs. He also has 55 catches for 440 yards and two receiving touchdowns.

The Jacksonville Jaguars have lost their patience with corner CJ Henderson, the ninth overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft, sooner than anyone expected. The team announced on Monday that they have traded Henderson to the Carolina Panthers in exchange for veteran tight end Dan Arnold.

The deal reportedly also includes a pick swap. The Jags will receive a third-round selection and will send Carolina a fifth-rounder.

The Jaguars selected Henderson with the hopes of filling the void that was left by the exit of All-Pro corner Jalen Ramsey. The Florida product ended up playing eight games in his rookie season, managing 36 tackles with one interception, six passes defended, and one forced fumble. This, however, wasn’t enough for Jacksonville, as they reportedly already started shopping him in the offseason.

Henderson played two games in 2021 before missing Week 3 due to a groin injury. The injury isn’t expected to keep him sidelined for too long.

According to reports, the Panthers held Henderson in high regard ahead of the 2020 draft and jumped on the opportunity to add him one year later. Carolina was already on the lookout for a cornerback addition after rookie Jaycee Horn suffered a broken foot in Week 3 win over the Houston Texans. Horne could be out for the season, making Henderson’s addition even more important for the franchise.

After seeing starting corner Jason Verrett go down with a season-ending injury in Week 1, the San Francisco 49ers got active on the free-agent market and signed veteran Dre Kirkpatrick. But according to David Lombardi of The Athletic, the 49ers only went for Kirkpatrick after failing in their pursuit of the Minnesota Vikings’ cornerback Cameron Dantzler.

Lombardi reports that the 49ers explored acquiring Dantzler and even made an official approach to the Vikings. However, Minnesota wasn’t impressed with the offer and decided to hang onto the 23-year-old star despite him being a healthy scratch in the season opener against the Cincinnati Bengals.

It remains to be seen whether San Francisco makes another attempt for Dantzler in the coming days or turns to other options for adding depth to their secondary. One of them could reportedly be a reunion with veteran Richard Sherman, something that even the team’s head coach Kyle Shanahan acknowledged earlier this week.

Dantzler, on the other hand, has a long way to go before returning to the Vikings lineup. Minnesota’s head coach Mike Zimmer indicated this on Wednesday during a chat with reporters.

“First thing, he’s gotta play special teams,” Zimmer said of Dantzler. “If you’re a backup player, you’ve gotta play special teams.”

The Vikings took Cameron Dantzler in the third round of the 2020 NFL Draft. The Mississippi State ended up winning the starting job in training camp and had a stellar rookie campaign that got him a spot on PFWA All-Rookie Team. Dantzler was projected to be the face of Minnesota’s secondary in 2021 as well, but poor training camp and preseason showing made him free fall on the depth chart.
