Sources confirmed on Saturday that the Miami Dolphins have reached an agreement to sign wide receiver Chosen Robbie Anderson. The 29-year-old player was released by the Arizona Cardinals on March 8 after joining the team last season in a midseason trade.

Before being offloaded by the Cardinals, Anderson had seven catches for 76 yards in 10 games last season. Prior to his trade to the Cardinals, Anderson played six games for the Carolina Panthers, making 13 catches for 206 yards and a touchdown.

Anderson is the second receiver that the Dolphins have acquired this season; the first being former New York Jets receiver Braxton Berrios. He will have to compete for a place in the roster with Berrios as well as River Cracraft, Cedrick Wilson, and 2022 fourth-round pick Erik Ezukanma during the team’s upcoming training camp.

Currently, the Dolphins’ receiving corps is led by Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle, who together set an NFL record in 2022 for most receiving yards by a pair of teammates with 3,066 yards.

The Tennessee Titans have agreed to a one-year deal with veteran quarterback Trevor Siemian according to a report by his agent Mike McCartney.

Siemian, who spent the better part of the 2016 and 2017 seasons as the Denver Broncos’ starting signal-caller, will move on to back up Ryan Tannehill in Tennessee after spending two seasons as a backup with the Vikings and Jets.

The former Northwestern quarterback was taken by Denver in the 7th round of the 2015 Draft and spent his first season backing up Peyton Manning in the Broncos’ Super Bowl-winning campaign.

After that year and Manning’s retirement, he assumed the reins as the starter at the position and delivered mixed results, throwing 30 touchdowns and 24 interceptions as his team struggled over the next couple of seasons.

Two backup jobs have defined Siemian’s career ever since, with his only regular season action taking place last season with the Jets as he made a Week 3 start. Unfortunately for Siemian, he suffered a torn ankle ligament just a few minutes after debuting, meaning that his 2019 season ended prematurely.

In Tennessee, Siemian is expected to back up Tannehill and serve as an injury insurance policy in case Tannehill experiences health issues.

He is expected to report to Nashville for training camp this week.

The Baltimore Ravens are planning to host former Pro Bowl wide receiver Dez Bryant for a workout at some point this week as part of the former star’s battle to get back into the league.

Bryant, who didn’t sign a new contract after leaving the Dallas Cowboys 2018 until November, promptly tore his Achilles tendon after joining the Saints mid-season and hasn’t played in a game since.

The Oklahoma State alum, who made the 2013, 2014, and 2016 Pro Bowls during his time in Dallas, was once considered one of the best wideouts in the entire NFL.

After eclipsing the 1,000-yard mark in three consecutive seasons from 2012 to 2014, Bryant saw his production slowly decline in every season after that and struggled with injury problems.

Still, at only 31 years old Bryant could help a Ravens squad that has one of the youngest and most inexperienced wide receiving units in the league. He could provide a big, experienced target for star quarterback Lamar Jackson as the team looks to push towards its first Super Bowl since 2012.

The team will evaluate Bryant further after his workout and if he does sign with the team, we should know something in the next couple of weeks.

NFL teams were told on Tuesday that they can start holding tryouts for free agents that they are interested in potentially signing.

A memo was sent from the league to teams stating that they can now get a better look at these players on the field, but will obviously have to follow safety protocol related to the COVID-19 pandemic.

According to reports, all of the free agents will have to undergo COVID-19 entry screening before they are able to join in on any team activities. This means that they would have to test negative three consecutive times if they are not currently on a team or two times if they were roster cuts or picked up by a team via trade or waiver claims.

Because of the pandemic and the teams’ inability to get a good look at free agents, there are still a significant number of high-quality free agents available, including pass rusher Jadeveon Clowney.

Clowney is looking for a big contract, which no team has wanted to commit to this offseason, since no one has been able to get a good look at him after he had offseason surgery to address a nagging core injury.

Expect several teams to bring him in as soon as possible, as well as other free agents such as Larry Warford, Everson Griffen, and Logan Ryan, who should all receive a good amount of interest from teams around the league right off the bat.

Less than a week after being released from the team that he quarterbacked for nearly a decade, Andy Dalton found a new NFL home after inking a one-year deal with the Dallas Cowboys.

The Texas native, who spent nine years as the starting quarterback of the Cincinnati Bengals, will join the Cowboys on a deal that will have him serve as Dak Prescott’s backup.

Dalton was supplanted as Cincinnati’s quarterback by the #1 overall pick in this year’s draft, Joe Burrow. After a 2019 season that saw his production dip for the league-worst Bengals, the team decided to move on from the three-time Pro Bowler.

Dalton, who grew up only four hours south of Arlington in the Houston suburb of Katy, is set to earn $7 million dollars on his one-year deal.

The 32-year-old signal caller is set to use the 2020 season as an opportunity to challenge Prescott for playing time in Dallas and rebuild his market value for the 2021 season and beyond. Despite not finding a starting job for the 2020 season, it isn’t unreasonable to think that a team would gamble on him in the near future.

Dalton is expected to report to Cowboys’ training camp later on this summer.

The Chicago Bears added a new piece to their defensive line, who happens to be a familiar face, after signing defensive tackle John Jenkins to a one-year deal on Tuesday.

Jenkins previously played for the Bears in 2017, and will rejoin the NFC North franchise after spending the past two seasons with the Giants and Dolphins, respectively.

The University of Georgia alum and Connecticut native has been a steady presence in the league since being drafted in the third round of the 2013 NFL Draft. He spent his first three seasons with the Saints, but has bounced around the league since then.

2019 was Jenkins’ first full season on the field since 2015, as he appeared in all 16 games, starting 5, for the Dolphins. He recorded 34 tackles and 1 sack in a down year for the Fins.

Now, Jenkins returns to Chicago to provide depth and experience to the team’s defensive line. His second stint with the franchise is expected to be a little more productive than his first one, in which he appeared in only 8 games and recorded 8 tackles.

Jenkins is expected to compete with Eddie Goldman for playing time at the nose tackle position in the Bears’ defensive scheme.

The New Orleans Saints re-signed backup quarterback Taysom Hill to a two-year contract over the weekend, allowing the signal caller to continue learning behind starter Drew Brees.

Hill, who has spent the entirety of his NFL career with the Saints after being signed out of BYU in 2017, has agreed to a contract that contains $16 million in guaranteed money and could reach a total of $21 depending on performance incentives.

While Hill spent last season as the team’s third-string quarterback, he has a unique role with the Saints that sees him used in other facets during the team’s games. For instance, Hill has been used as a kick returner, a receiver, and a “gunner” on punt plays, which has given him the nickname of the “Human Swiss Army Knife” due to his versatility.

Hill is expected to continue in a similar role with New Orleans this season, serving as the third-string quarterback behind Brees and a yet-unknown backup QB. There are currently rumors that the franchise is making an effort to sign free agent quarterback Jameis Winston to back up Brees.

The Idaho native’s reasons for staying in New Orleans were clear. He said, “I’ve felt a lot of love from the organization and the fan base. My wife and I always wanted to stay in New Orleans, so this worked out perfect.”

Hill will break camp with the team later this summer.

The Chicago Bears have decided to cut ties with veteran tight end Trey Burton, freeing up salary cap space for their team and putting an accomplished pass catcher on the market.

Burton was acquired as an undrafted free agent by the Philadelphia Eagles prior to the 2014 season, and served mainly as a productive backup during his four seasons with the team.

He played sparingly over his first two seasons with the Eagles, but then became a regular pass-catching target for the 2016 and Super Bowl Champion 2017 team, totaling 60 reception and 6 touchdowns over the two seasons.

He was rewarded for his work with a four-year contract with $22 million in guaranteed money with the Chicago Bears prior to the 2018 season. He posted the most productive season of his career that year, catching 54 passes for 569 yards and 6 touchdowns.

However, his 2019 was a disappointment, as groin and hip injuries limited him to only 8 games and 14 receptions before his season was cut short by going on injured reserve in November.

Now, Burton will look to sign a contract with a new team and prove that he is back and healthy, and ready to contribute as he did just a couple of years ago.

The Detroit Lions have made a move to shore up their receiving core, inking five-year NFL veteran and former Green Bay Packer Geronimo Allison to a one-year deal worth $910,000. He will also receive a $137,500 signing bonus as part of his new deal.

Allison makes the move to a former NFC North rival after spending the rest of his career with the Green Bay Packers. After going undrafted out of the University of Illinois, Allison worked his way into the Packers’ receiving corps as a valuable backup.

He did, however, fail to live up to expectations after being given an increased role in the 2019 season. Despite moving up in the team’s depth chart, Allison caught only 34 passes for 287 yards and two touchdowns last season, never establishing a rhythm with quarterback Aaron Rodgers.

The Florida native caught a total of 89 passes for 1,045 yards and 6 touchdowns during his four-year tenure in Green Bay.

Now, Allison will have the opportunity to try his luck with a new team and serve as a crucial member of the team’s pass-catching corps. He is expected to join Danny Amendola, Kenny Golladay, and Marvin Jones Jr. as a key member of the team’s unproven group of wideouts.

The Carolina Panthers, who recently inked former Vikings quarterback Teddy Bridgewater to be their starter for the 2020 season, have now added a backup at the position that comes from an unexpected place.

P.J. Walker, who spent the first months of 2020 playing for the XFL’s Houston Roughnecks. Before the season was cut short, Walker starred as one of the best players in the fledgling league. He threw for 1,338 yards and 15 touchdown passes in five games, leading his team to a perfect 5-0 record.

The New Jersey native posted a solid 65% completion percentage, throwing only 4 interceptions. His yardage and touchdown totals led the league before its cancellation.

Walker had spent time on the Indianapolis Colts’ practice squad during his first two years out of college. He was signed undrafted out Temple University but never got a chance to play in the league.

The 25-year-old appears to have struck gold after his XFL cameo. He will become the first XFL player to sign an NFL contract since the league’s return for 2020, making history.

Now, Walker will be slotted as Teddy Bridgewater’s backup on the team’s NFL roster heading into the 2020 season, something few could have ever imagined just a few short months ago.
