LeBron James and Gilbert Arenas are apparently old friends. So much so, in fact, that LeBron felt comfortable enough telling Arenas to “put some eyes on him” during a basketball training session.

The former Washington Wizards All-Star retold the story best to reporter Chris Miller on an episode of And One: “LeBron hit me on Instagram and said ‘My son is starting to train and he’s training with Dribble2Much. Can you go over there and put some eyes on him and let me know because I’m kind of worried about him.’ I went there, watched him, and gave him some pointers.”

Arenas, one dubbed “Agent Zero”, told LeBron that he had nothing to be worried about: “He’s your clone, you don’t need to be worried.”

Arenas got into more detail regarding his predictions for Bronny’s future success: “From his bone structure, he’s going to be all of 6-8, 6-9, and the fact that he’s jumping higher now means he’s going to be 6-8, 6-9 with a 44-inch vertical… when he takes it seriously, it’s going to be scary.”

Bronny is still in high school, but already has offers to play for prestigious basketball organizations such as Duke, UCLA, Kentucky, North Carolina, and many more.

The 2020 NBA Draft was finally held on Wednesday night, five months later than it was previously scheduled, and the Minnesota Timberwolves had the top pick and carte blanche to select whatever player they wanted.

They settled on Georgia Bulldogs shooting guard Anthony Edwards, turning into last night’s biggest prize at the virtual event.

Edwards burst onto the scene as one of college basketball’s best young players as a freshman last season before the campaign was cut short by the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Atlanta native started 32 games for the Bulldogs, lighting up the scoreboard for 19.1 points per game on 40% shooting along with 5.1 rebounds, 2.8 assists, and 1.3 steals.

The Timberwolves made the decision to select Edwards over other top prospects such as LaMelo Ball and James Wiseman due to his excellent scoring potential in the pro game. He is expected to be a volume scorer who will add explosiveness to Minnesota’s young core of players.

Ball, long considered to be the favorite to be the top pick in the draft, slid to #3 to the Charlotte Hornets while Wiseman went 2nd overall to the Golden State Warriors.

Expect Edwards to get plenty of playing time in the upcoming season as the Timberwolves look to take small steps towards contention.

The Minnesota Timberwolves will have the No.1 pick in the next NBA Draft after winning the Draft Lottery on Thursday.

The team had the third-worst record in the NBA this season. The Golden State Warriors, who had the worst record in the league, will be picking second and the second-worst team of this season, the Cleveland Cavaliers, ended up falling down to the 5th overall pick.

The Charlotte Hornets had the best luck in the Lottery. They finished with the eighth-worst record in the league but ended up with the No. 3 overall pick. The New York Knicks, who seem to historically have bad luck with the Draft Lottery, once against didn’t see things go their way and ended up with the eighth overall selection.

While there is no absolute best player available in this year’s draft, there are two that seem to be one step above the rest, LaMelo Ball and Anthony Edwards.

Ball, whose brother Lonzo plays for the New Orleans Pelicans, played overseas instead of college basketball, where he was able to showcase his abilities very well. Many believe that the hybrid guard-forward has the potential to be an All-Star.

Edwards is a top shooting guard who played college ball at Georgia. NBA experts believe that he can become a top scorer in the league.

Owing to the circumstances surrounding the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic that has forced the postponement of sporting leagues and events around the world, the NCAA, college basketball’s governing association, has announced the indefinite postponement of its deadline for men’s basketball players to withdraw from the NBA Draft and retain their collegiate eligibility.

Senior vice president of the NCAA Dan Gavitt said, “This modification is being made with the health and well-being of our student-athletes in mind, along with their ability to make the most informed decisions during this uncertain time, and is based on the recent announcement by the NBA to postpone the 2020 NBA Draft Combine.”

The original June 3rd date, which is after the annual combine which gives players more information about when in the draft they will be taken and/or if they will selected at all.

This date is designed to give players who had previously declared themselves selectable in the annual June draft the option to return to school if their professional prospects are unfavorable.

It remains to be seen if the 2020 Draft, scheduled for June 25th, will be able to held on the planned date or if it will be postponed. The NCAA is likely to wait for more NBA announcements before naming a date for players to retain their eligibility.
