The Montreal Impact is obviously satisfied with the showings of Bacary Sagna in the second part of their MLS campaign since the team decided to resign the 35-year-old. According to Impact’s official press release, Sagna, who previously played for European giants Arsenal and Manchester City, inked a one-year deal.

I am very satisfied that Bacary carries on with the club,” – said Montreal’s coach Remi Garde in a statement. “He played a big role in our good second half to the season in 2018 and I am sure he will once again be an important part of the Impact in 2019.

Bacary Sagna signed with Impact over the summer, after a stint with Seria A side Benevento, and played a total of nine games. He ended up providing the team with badly needed stability in the back, helping Montreal to 5-3-1 record and adding one goal in the process.

I’m very happy to be back with the Impact for one more year,” – said Sagna in a statement. “I hope we have a good season and make it all the way.

Bacary Sagna had his breakthrough with Arsenal, where he played between 2007 and 2014, establishing himself as one of the best right backs in the world. He then made a switch to Man City, where he failed to make the same impact and only played 86 games in three years.

Sagna was also Cote de Ivory international, representing his country on two World Cups.

Montreal Impact decided to use the MLS trade deadline to the fullest, completing several roster moves. The biggest name to join Impact is undoubtedly full-back Bacary Sagna, who comes as a free agent. Sagna, who previously played for Arsenal and Manchester City, signed a two year deal with the second year being optional.

I’m very happy of Bacary’s arrival,” – said Impact head coach Remi Garde in a statement. “He’s a player with a great career who’s still very motivated to come and help the Impact defy its end-of-season challenge. His personality, experience, and overall game will be a plus for our team.

At one point of his career, Bacary Sagna was considered one of the best right back in soccer. But after he decided to make a switch from Arsenal to Man City, he failed to continue with the same kind of performances. After three years, in which he didn’t receive much playing time, Sagna left England and signed with Seria A side Benevento in early 2018. He played 13 games in Italy and scored one goal.

Besides bringing in Bacary Sagna, Montreal Impact also traded forward Dominic Oduro to the San Jose Earthquakes in exchange for Quincy Amarikwa. The impact wasn’t done at that point and acquired the rights to midfielder Micheal Azira from Colorado Rapids to conclude an eventful day.

Montreal Impact currently finds itself at the fifth place in the Eastern Conference with nine wins, 13 defeats alongside two ties. Their next game is an away clash against the Real Salt Lake.

After their starting center back Zakaria Diallo tore his Achilles tendon last week, MLS side Montreal Impact reacted swiftly and signed France international Rod Fanni. Fanni, who was a free agent after being released by Olympique de Marseille, signed a deal until June 30, 2018. In case the 36-year-old performs at a high level, Impact can extend the deal until the end of 2018 MLS season.

His arrival will allow us to fill the gap left by Zakaria Diallo’s injury,” – said Impact head coach Rémi Garde. “Rod will strengthen our defensive corps while bringing his extensive experience to the group. I appreciated his swiftness in positively answering our request and his desire to take part in our project as soon as he was released from his contract with Marseille. I am certain that his contribution will be important for our upcoming games.

Rod Fanni spent most of his career in France, where he played for clubs like Nice, Rennes, and Marseille. After short spells in Qatar and England, he returned to Marseille in 2016. After failing to make an appearance in the first half of 2017-18, the team terminated his contract in January 2018.

If I’m here right now, it’s largely thanks to Mister Garde,” – said Fanni upon joining Impact. “We spent years in the same league, so we know each other quite well already. Our first contact was way before the unfortunate injury to Zakaria Diallo. I was already motivated to come here, and the club wanted me to join the Impact as well. I hope to give my best and use my experience to help this project moving forward.
