Montreal Impact decided to use the MLS trade deadline to the fullest, completing several roster moves. The biggest name to join Impact is undoubtedly full-back Bacary Sagna, who comes as a free agent. Sagna, who previously played for Arsenal and Manchester City, signed a two year deal with the second year being optional.

I’m very happy of Bacary’s arrival,” – said Impact head coach Remi Garde in a statement. “He’s a player with a great career who’s still very motivated to come and help the Impact defy its end-of-season challenge. His personality, experience, and overall game will be a plus for our team.

At one point of his career, Bacary Sagna was considered one of the best right back in soccer. But after he decided to make a switch from Arsenal to Man City, he failed to continue with the same kind of performances. After three years, in which he didn’t receive much playing time, Sagna left England and signed with Seria A side Benevento in early 2018. He played 13 games in Italy and scored one goal.

Besides bringing in Bacary Sagna, Montreal Impact also traded forward Dominic Oduro to the San Jose Earthquakes in exchange for Quincy Amarikwa. The impact wasn’t done at that point and acquired the rights to midfielder Micheal Azira from Colorado Rapids to conclude an eventful day.

Montreal Impact currently finds itself at the fifth place in the Eastern Conference with nine wins, 13 defeats alongside two ties. Their next game is an away clash against the Real Salt Lake.
