The Los Angeles Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford is unlikely to play against the Green Bay Packers on Sunday as he battles with a right thumb injury. Still, one source claimed that the Rams are willing to wait to see if there is any change to his status before ruling him out completely.

Officially listed as questionable, Stafford was injured during his team’s 43-20 loss to the Dallas Cowboys last week. While one source mentioned earlier in the week that it “would have been unthinkable” for him to play on Sunday due to his ulnar collateral ligament sprain, he may end up being rested given that he will have two weeks to recover before the Rams’ next game due to a bye next week.

Should Stafford be rested, Brett Rypien would be expected to replace him with Dresser Winn as backup. Star rookie wide receiver Puka Nacua, who is also listed as questionable, is expected to play.

The reigning Super Bowl champions Los Angeles Rams are officially punting on the 2022 NFL season. The team announced on Saturday that their starting quarterback Matthew Stafford had been placed on Injured Reserve. This probably means that Stafford won’t play again this year, considering he will only be eligible to return in Week 17.

Stafford has been out since suffering a neck injury against the New Orleans Saints in Week 11. He was also in the concussion protocol twice, something that probably influenced the Rams’ decision to put him on IR.

After leading the Rams to a championship last year, Stafford significantly struggled in 2022 despite having a career-high 68.0 completion percentage. In 10 games of action, the 34-year-old Pro Bowler had 2,087 passing yards while only throwing for 10 touchdowns compared to eight interceptions.

With Stafford out, the Rams have given chances to John Wolford and Bryce Perkins to start under center in the past two weeks. Wolford had 212 passing yards, one TD, and one interception in a 17-27 loss to Arizona Cardinals in Week 10, while Perkins threw for 100 yards, one TD, and two picks in Week 12 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs.

The Los Angeles Rams had a rough campaign in 2022, and things will probably be even worse for them down the stretch before becoming better. They are currently last in the NFC west with a 3-8 record.

Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford has been cleared to play in the game against the New Orleans Saints on Sunday after being cleared of concussion protocol. Following his absence during the Rams’ 27-17 loss to the Arizona Cardinals in Week 10, Stafford has been on the mend, becoming a full participant in the teams’ training all week.

Stafford entered concussion protocol on November 8 after the Rams’ Week 9 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccanneers after the team’s medical staff determined that this was the “appropriate” action following an examination of the player. After the game, coach Sean McVay revealed that he did not see any indication during the game that Stafford had been dealing with concussion symptoms.

Although Stafford is listed as being available for Sunday’s game, McVay has confirmed that quarterback Bryce Perkins may back up Stafford against the Saints should the need arise. Fellow quarterback John Wolford, who played in Stafford’s place against the Cardinals last week, has been listed on the team’s injury report after suffering a neck injury.

Prior to entering concussion protocol, Stafford had completed 68.4% of his passes for 1,928 yards this season along with eight touchdowns and eight interceptions.

The Los Angeles Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford received an injection in his injured right elbow during the offseason, the team confirmed. According to Rams’ head coach Sean McVay, Stafford has been experiencing pain that is uncommon for a quarterback, going on to describe his pain as something that a pitcher is more likely to incur.

Still recovering from his elbow injury from last season, Stafford did not participate in any throwing drills during the Rams’ spring workouts. While he did begin to throw during individual and 7-on-7 drills during training camp on Thursday, he is still abstaining from team reps out of fear of aggravating his injury.

McVay believes that a gradual reintegration into the team is best for Stafford, whereby the player steers clear of throwing too much at the start of his return.

“Could he do it? Yes. Is that the best thing? We didn’t think so. And I think I’ve got a responsibility to try to make decisions that are in the best alignment using medical experts and talking with Matthew,” McVay explained. Aside from Stafford’s elbow injury, McVay revealed that he believed that the 34-year-old player “looked really good” during training on Thursday.

Detroit Lions will have quarterback Matthew Stafford under center when the 2020 NFL season kicks off. According to Lions’ general manager Bob Quinn, Stafford recovered from back and hip injuries he had last year and is “good to go.”

Stafford was limited to only eight games in 2019 due to fractures in his back, spending half of the season on the injured list. But it appears the health issues are now behind him.

“Matthew is doing great,” said Quinn via Lions’ official website. “He calls me probably once a week to check in. I know he’s working out. I know he’s feeling good, so health-wise he’s good to go. As I said at the end of the season, if we were starting our offseason program next week, he’d be there as a full participant. He’s cleared medically from that standpoint.”

Matthew Stafford completed 64.3 percent of his passes last year, throwing for 2,499 yards and 19 touchdowns. Lions were 3-4-1 during that period and looked like they might make a run for the playoffs. After Stafford went down, however, Lions weren’t capable of generating any meaningful offense and lost all of the eight remaining games.

Last season was the first time since 2010 that Stafford missed regular-season games. He had a streak of 136 consecutive starts before sitting down the Week 9 game against Oakland Raiders.

Detroit Lions’ quarterback Matthew Stafford made 136 consecutive starts in the NFL before sitting out Week 10 with a back injury. Stafford also missed Sunday’s game against Dallas Cowboys and according to ESPN, he could miss six more weeks.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported on Monday that Stafford played through several fractured bones in his back this season, and wanted to continue playing. However, the team doctors decided to deny him that, fearing that the injury might worsen.

Despite doctors saying that Stafford should sit six weeks, he could be back on the field earlier than this. Schefter cites sources close to the Lions’ organization, who said that the team expects the 31-year-old signal-caller to beat the odds and return within three weeks.

Matthew Stafford’s absence will probably end Detroit Lions’ hopes for a playoff spot. The team has now lost two games in the row with Stafford’s backup Jeff Driskel under center and is currently sitting last in NFC North with a 3-6-1 record.

Stafford has been playing really well in 2019, completing 64.5 percent of his passes and throwing for 2,499 yards with 19 touchdowns and five interceptions.

Detroit Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford was unable to play in his team’s Sunday loss to the Chicago Bears, snapping one of the longest streaks in the NFL.

Stafford, who started 136 consecutive games for the Lions as quarterback, a streak which dated back to the 2010 season, was not able to extend the impressive streak after discomfort caused by broken bones in his back made it impossible to take the field.

This back injury is a recurring issue for Stafford, but according to team general manager Bob Quinn, he suffered an aggravation of the problem in the team’s loss last Sunday to the Oakland Raiders.

The unfortunate development meant that Jeff Driskel started at quarterback for Detroit, throwing for 269 yards, one touchdown, and one interception.

Stafford no longer owns the NFL’s second-longest started games streak, behind Philip Rivers’ 228 game streak. The former Georgia Bulldog’s streak, which ended yesterday, goes down as the sixth-longest streak in the history of the league.

It is unknown whether Stafford, a 2014 Pro Bowler, will be able to return to the Lions this season.

The team may opt to allow their star quarterback to fully recover instead of further risking his health.

While analysts contributed this decline to various factors, it looks like Stafford has a proper excuse for his bad performances.

“He had a broken back last year,” – said O’Hara during an appearance on the weekly podcast by WJR’s Ken Brown. “Broken bones in his back.”

The news was later confirmed by NFL Insider Ian Rapaport, who described the injury as “tiny fractures” in Stafford’s back.

If we take into consideration just the years he played full 16 games, 2018 was a career-worst for Matthew Stafford. He threw for just 3777 yards and 21 touchdowns, compared to 2017’s 4446 yards and 29 touchdowns.

Lions were also affected by Stafford’s bad performances, as they finished 6-10, which was their worst record in six years.
