Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James is joining the team’s already lengthy injury list. According to The Athletic’s Shams Charania, James is dealing with an abdominal strain that will sideline him for “at least one week.”

The injury doesn’t seem severe, but the Lakers reportedly want to take a cautious approach considering it is only the beginning of the season.

According to ESPN, James got hurt during the 30 points, 10 assists outing in the 119-117 win against the Houston Rockets on Tuesday. The 37-year-old was already out in late October, missing games against the San Antonio Spurs and the Oklahoma City Thunder because of the same injury.

In the six games he was on the floor for the Lakers this season, James averaged 24.8 points, 5.5 rebounds, 7.0 assists, and 2.3 steals per game. His shooting numbers are not so great, however, as he is only making 46.7 percent of his shots from the floor while hitting 34.7 percent on three-pointers.

The Los Angeles Lakers had a slow start of the season, losing three out of their first five games. Lately, however, they seemed to have found their footing and are currently riding a three-game winning streak.

LeBron James was once again at his best when it mattered the most. James delivered a strong all-around performance in the play-in tournament on Wednesday night against the Golden State Warriors and secured a 103-100 win for the Los Angeles Lakers. This included a clutch go-ahead 34-foot 3-pointer late in the fourth quarter.

The game didn’t start well for the Lakers, who found themselves 13 points behind at the half. To shake things up, Los Angeles’ head coach Frank Vogel decided to pull out Andre Drummond and put Anthony Davis at center. This proved to be a turning point in the contest, as the Lakers rallied back and almost erased the entire deficit.

The fourth quarter saw teams exchanging points, and at that point, it was anyone’s game. The only difference was that one team had James and the other didn’t.

With around a minute left in the contest, both sides had 100 points apiece. The Lakers had the ball, but it looked like they wouldn’t do much with it. At one point, James dished the ball to Kentavious Caldwell-Pope in the paint, but the 28-year-old shooting guard found himself surrounded by Golden State’s defense.

With nowhere to go, Caldwell-Pope abandoned the layup and gave the ball back. With the shooting clock winding down, James launched a three and hit nothing but the bottom of the net to make it 103-100.

The Warriors tried to respond quickly, but the Lakers tightened up their defense and managed to come up with a win.

James finished the game with a triple-double, scoring 22 points to go with 11 rebounds and 10 assists. Davis had 25 points and 12 boards, while Dennis Schroeder, Alex Caruso, and Caldwell-Pope also achieved double digits scoring.

Golden State was led by Stephen Curry as expected, with this year’s MVP candidate scoring 37 points. Andrew Wiggins had 21 points, and Kent Bazemore and Jordan Poole each scored 10 apiece.

The win propelled the Lakers to the No. 7 seed in the Western Conference playoffs and will see them play the No. 2-seeded Phoenix Suns in the first round. The Warriors, on the other hand, will look to punch their playoff ticket in an elimination game against the Memphis Grizzlies.

LeBron James has been ever-present for the Los Angeles Lakers this season, but his streak will come to an end in the upcoming game against the Sacramento Kings.

According to multiple reports, James is currently dealing with a left ankle sprain and didn’t even make the trip with his teammates to Sacramento. The injury, however, isn’t expected to affect the 36-year-old superstar’s appearance in the All-Star game in Atlanta over the weekend.

The news comes after James was listed as questionable in Tuesday’s game against the Phoenix Suns. He ended up playing, however, and spent a game-high 38 minutes on the floor while scoring 38 points in a 104-114 loss.

James had been reportedly experiencing issues with his ankle earlier in the season, but the discomfort wasn’t so bad that he had to sit out games.

After missing out on the MVP honors last season, LeBron James is considered to the favorite for the award in 2020-21. He is having an excellent individual season, currently averaging 25.8 points, 8.0 rebounds, and 7.8 assists per game.

James’s stellar performances are also key in the Lakers’ efforts to stay in the top three in the Western Conference. They are currently at a 24-13 record and 3.5 games behind the leading Utah Jazz despite a prolonged absence of some of their key players like superstar Anthony Davis.
