United States Men’s National Team star Weston McKennie was left out of the Juventus squad for Sunday’s game against Monza. This comes as McKennie finds himself in the midst of transfer talks with Premier League club Leeds United.

“He absolutely won’t be involved, he’s at the center of transfer rumors,” Juventus manager Massimiliano Allegri confirmed in a news conference. “I think the club has already reached an agreement with the club he’ll be joining.”

Coached by American manager Jesse Marsch, Leeds United has been looking to acquire McKennie during the January window. In addition to being the club of USMNT teammates Tyler Adams and Brenden Aaronson, the Premier League side recently hired former U.S. international Chris Armas as the assistant coach to Marsch.

McKennie proved to be a crucial member of Team USA at the 2022 World Cup, helping his team to reach the round of 16. He has scored nine goals in 41 appearances for his country.

Juventus has signed striker Arkadiusz Milik from Ligue 1 side Marseille on a one-year loan, the club announced on Friday. The club will be expected to pay a €2 million loan fee for the Polish striker and will receive the option to sign him on a permanent basis at the end of the loan for €7 million plus add-ons, payable over a three-year period.

Since joining Marseille in January 2021 on an 18-month loan with an obligation to join permanently, Milik has scored 30 goals for the French side in 55 appearances, thereby grabbing the attention of Juventus who will be looking to reinforce its attack as it navigates the injuries of fellow forwards Federico Chiesa, Kaio Jorge, and Marley Ake.

“Milik is a striker, who, in addition to having extraordinary physical strength, is skilled in aerial play and is above all very dangerous in the penalty area,” the club announced in an official public statement following Milik’s transfer confirmation.

This marks Milik’s return to Serie A, where he previously made over 120 appearances for Napoli, scoring almost 60 goals for the club. At 28 years of age, Milik has also earned 62 international caps for the Polish national team, scoring 16 goals in the process.

Cristiano Ronaldo missed Juventus’ recent UEFA Champions League match against Barcelona due to a positive coronavirus test, but that didn’t stop the La Liga side’s social media team from taking a jab at him.

After Barca got a 2:0 win in Turin, the club’s social media page sent out a tweet reading: “We are glad you were able to see the real goat (emoji) on your pitch @juventusfcen!,” while attaching a picture of Lionel Messi.

This was an obvious joke at Ronaldo’s expense, considering he is Lionel Messi’s greatest rival for the title of greatest of all time AKA “GOAT.”

But, Barca sure didn’t expect an equally effective comeback.

Juventus quickly responded by tweeting: “You probably looked it up in the wrong dictionary. We’ll bring you the right one at Camp Nou.”

This certainly entertained the social media users and sparked the Ronaldo vs. Messi debate that died out a bit since the Portuguese superstar left Real Madrid. It is hard to believe that the debate will ever be settled since both players have great credentials, but at least we can enjoy the process.

On Sunday afternoon, Juventus’ players casually walked on the field of their Allianz Stadium and started the pre-game warmups for their scheduled Seria A match that day. However, there was a slight issue. They didn’t have anyone to play, as their opponents Napoli failed to show up.

Instead of Allianz Stadium, Napoli players were hundreds of miles away in quarantine and with a travel ban on their hands. Italian authorities didn’t allow the team to travel after midfielders Piotr Zielinski and Eljif Elmas tested positive for coronavirus.

Napoli received the notice earlier on Sunday and immediately reached out to Seria A for match postponement. After being rejected by the league, the team then contacted Juventus. The Turin club, badly needing points after a weak start of the season, refused to show compassion.

Reportedly, Seria A will now side with Juve and award the team a 3-0 win while Napoli will have one point deducted for failure to show up.

“De Laurentiis (Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis) sent me a message asking for the game to be postponed and I replied that, as always, Juventus will follow the rules,” said Juve’s president Andrea Agnelli said. “If we don’t, we are failing as citizens rather than sportsmen.”

Juventus are Seria A champions once again. The Turin club claimed their ninth straight title in Italy on Sunday after a 2-0 win over Sampdoria.

Cristiano Ronaldo opened the scoring late in the first half after an impressive assist from Miralem Pjanic, while Federico Bernardeschi sealed the win with a goal in 67th minute. Juve’s job was made even easier ten minutes later when Sampdoria’s midfielder Morten Thorsby received a yellow card.

The victory put Juve seven points clear ahead of their closest rival Inter Milan with only two games left to be played in 2019/20 Seria A season.

Juventus’ run of nine consecutive domestic league titles is among the best in Europe and parried only by Scottish giants Celtic and Bulgarian powerhouse Ludogorets. Juve also extended their Seria A trophies record to 36, double than its closest followers Milan and Inter Milan.

“This championship has a particular flavor, certainly a strong one,” said manager Maurizio Sarri. “Winning is difficult, this team has been won for many years, and therefore every year it becomes more difficult.”

Juventus now looks to turn their attention to UEFA Champions League, where they haven’t had so much success in recent decades. They are scheduled to play the second leg of their round-of-16 matchup against Lyon in early August. The first match ended with a 1-0 victory for Lyon.

Portuguese superstar Cristiano Ronaldo added another achievement to his illustrious career over the weekend. By scoring in Juventus’ 4-1 win over Torino, Ronaldo got to 25 goals in Seria A this season and became the first Juve player to do so in 60 years.

Despite Juve having some world-class attackers in recent decades, such as Alessandro Del Piero, Roberto Baggio, and Zlatan Ibrahimovic, neither of them ever managed to top the 25 goals mark in the domestic competition. Before Ronaldo, the latest one to do so is club legend Omar Sivori, whose 25 goals during the 1960/61 season helped Juve clinch Seria A title.

It appears that Ronaldo’s goals will help Juve win the title this season as well, considering the win over Torino almost secured them the trophy. They find themselves at the top of Seria A table with 75 points, which is seven more than their closest followers Lazio.

Cristiano Ronaldo had another minor achievement over the weekend, as his goal came from a direct free-kick. This was his first free-kick goal since he came to Juventus last season, and also his first after 42 unsuccessful attempts.

Ronaldo will now look to add to his goal tally, as he chases Lazio’s Ciro Immobile (29 goals) for Capocannoniere title in 2019/20. Besides 25 goals in Seria A, the 35-year-old forward also scored four more goals in other competitions.
