Liverpool has found a replacement for their departing manager Jurgen Klopp. According to respected soccer insider Fabrizio Romano, the Premier League powerhouse has an agreement in place to make Feyenoord’s Arne Slot their new head coach.

Liverpool managed to reach a compensation deal with Feyenoord in recent days while also successfully negotiating a contract agreement with Slot.

Liverpool has been working on finding a new head coach ever since Klopp announced in January that he plans on leaving the club at the end of the 2023-24 season. Sporting’s Ruben Amorim, Bayer Leverkusen’s Xabi Alonso, and Brighton’s Roberto De Zerbi were originally considered the front runners for the job but eventually got ruled for different reasons.

Eventually, Liverpool zeroed in on Slot, who is well respected for the work he has done with Feyenoord in recent seasons. In his first season with the club in 2021-22, Slot led Feyenoord to the UEFA Europa Conference League and followed that up with the Eredivisie title in 2022-23. This season, he won the KNVB Cup.

Slot, who refused approaches from Leeds United and Tottenham in the past, said in previous interviews that he is looking forward to the opportunity to coach Liverpool. 

“It seems clear to me that I would like to go to Liverpool. Now I’m waiting to see whether the clubs reach an agreement. I’m very confident in that,” Slot told reporters earlier this week.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp announced that he will step down from his role at the club at the end of the current season. Explaining that he feels that he is “running out of energy”, the German manager said he will not manage another club or country for at least a year.

“I can understand that it’s a shock for a lot of people in this moment, when you hear it for the first time, but obviously I can explain it, or at least try to explain it,” Klopp explained in a video message. “It is that I am, how can I say it, running out of energy. I have no problem now, obviously, I knew it already for longer that I will have to announce it at one point, but I am absolutely fine now. Klopp explained that he loves “absolutely everything about this club [Liverpool]” and that he will not manage another English club in the future, thereby rebutting rumors that he may return to the Premier League at some point.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has warned his team’s Premier League rivals that the Reds are looking to ignite a comeback as England’s top flight resumes following the international World Cup break. Liverpool forward Robert Firmino has suffered a serious hamstring injury, the club announced via a public statement on Friday. The injury occurred on Wednesday, with Firminho limping off the field during the Reds’ 2-0 victory over Atletico Madrid in the Champions League.

According to manager Jurgen Klopp, the Brazilian attacker will most likely be unavailable through December. This news comes as Firminho was due to represent Brazil during their world cup qualifiers against Columbia and Argentine next week.
