The Cleveland Browns have Pro Bowler Deshaun Watson as their quarterback of the future, but that future most likely won’t start in Week 1 of the 2022 season. With Watson expected to receive a lengthy suspension due to off-the-field issues, the Browns are looking into ways to expand their QB room.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Browns brought in quarterbacks Josh Rosen and AJ McCarron for a workout on Thursday. While there is a possibility of both staying around for the training camp, Rosen seems to have already impressed Cleveland’s coaching staff and will ink a one-year deal.

Rosen entered the league in the 2018 NFL Draft as a 10th overall pick but had a rough time so far in the league. He spent time with five organizations in the past four years and failed to last anywhere longer than a season. He was a backup for the Atlanta Falcons in 2021, seeing the field in four games as a relief and completing two passes out of 11 attempted.

On the other hand, McCarron is a career backup who played for the Cincinnati Bengals and the Houston Texans in the past. The 31-year-old player was also with the Falcons last year but spent the entire campaign on the sidelines after tearing his ACL during the preseason.

If Watson ends up being suspended, the Cleveland Browns will most likely have Jacoby Brissett as their Week 1 starter. Brissett signed on to be Watson’s backup in the offseason after playing for the Miami Dolphins last year.

Quarterback Josh Rosen, the 10th overall pick in the 2018 NFL Draft by the Arizona Cardinals, appears to be running out of chances in NFL. The most recent team to give up on once the highly-rated prospect are the San Francisco 49ers, who cut Rosen in order to open a roster spot for journeyman cornerback Davontae Harris.

The 49ers confirmed the move on social media.

Rosen joined the 49ers in late 2020 after a stint with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers practice squad. He then inked one deal with San Francisco in March, with the team hoping he could be their third-string quarterback or perhaps challenge for the backup spot.

However, Rosen struggled in training camp and followed that up with a lukewarm performance in the preseason game against the Kansas City Chiefs. He completed 10 passes out of 15 attempted, throwing for 93 yards and having an interception. It also didn’t help that he was publicly criticized by head coach Kyle Shanahan.

“I think he’s taken a couple of steps back the last few practices. You know, it was unfortunate on that,” said Shanahan earlier in August.

The 49ers will now proceed with Jimmy Garoppolo and Trey Lance as their top two quarterbacks, while veteran Nate Sudfeld, who proved to be more consistent than Rosen, more or less secured the third-string job.

Rosen, on the other hand, will most likely have to work really hard to get another chance in the NFL after already being traded or released by four teams in just three years as a pro.

Former 10th-overall draft pick, quarterback Josh Rosen, will be joining his third team in as many years in the NFL.

According to reports, the young quarterback has joined the Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ practice squad.

You’ll be hard-pressed to find anyone who has had a more difficult transition to the NFL than Rosen. Selected 10th overall by the Arizona Cardinals in the 2018 draft, Rosen played on a team in full rebuild mode, behind a bad offensive line, and with very little talent on offense.

The next year, new coach Kliff Kingsbury took over and decided to restart the program with his own guy, picking QB Kyler Murray with the No. 1 overall draft pick in 2019 and sending Rosen to the Dolphins, where a similar situation awaited him.

Rosen struggled again with a lack of talent in Miami, on a team that looked as if it was heading towards a top draft pick in the 2020 draft before the season even started. Miami used the No. 5 pick in the 2020 draft to take Tua Tagovailoa, taking Rosen out of the picture again.

Rosen now has a chance to take a breath and start over without too much pressure on him. He’ll get to learn from arguably the greatest quarterback of all time, Tom Brady, and get coached up by one of the great quarterback-whisperers, coach Bruce Arians.

With Brady being 43 years old and on a two-year contract, Rosen could even be in the conversation to take over for the future Hall of Famer if Arians sees progress and believes that Rosen has what it takes to be a future NFL starter.

According to reports, the Miami Dolphins are actively looking to trade quarterback Josh Rosen.

If this does happen, Rosen would be joining his third team in as many years.

Once a top prospect, Rosen was drafted by the Arizona Cardinals with the 10th overall pick in the 2018 draft. After a terrible season behind a miserable offensive line, Rosen was traded to the Dolphins after the new coaching staff decided to move on from him and draft quarterback Kyler Murray with the No. 1 pick in the 2019 draft.

Rosen faced a similar situation in Miami, playing with a lack of offensive weapons and protection for a Miami team that was clearly looking to draft a top quarterback in the 2020 draft. Miami drafted Alabama’s Tua Tagovailoa with the No. 5 pick in the 2020 draft, who is going to sit and learn from veteran Dolphins quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick this year.

This once again makes Rosen dispensable.

Still only 23 years old, Rosen was touted as an excellent prospect with a high football IQ coming out of UCLA. Joining the right team and coaching staff could enable Rosen to bounce back and have a worthwhile career, as long as he finally lands in the right situation where he is afforded stability and the ability to develop under the right guidance.

Miami Dolphins’ third-year quarterback Josh Rosen could be on the move again. According to NFL Media’s Michael Giardi, several NFL teams have been making calls in regards to Rosen’s availability.

Rosen’s time in Miami is presumably over as Dolphins extended veteran Ryan Fitzpatrick and then drafted Alabama’s signal-caller Tua Tagovailoa with the fifth overall pick in 2020 NFL Draft. However, Giardi reports that the organization is in “no hurry” to trade the 23-year-old and will most likely wait for the right offer.

Rosen had three starts with the Dolphins in 2019, throwing for 567 yards and one touchdown.

Considering the crowded QB room in Miami, Josh Rosen will likely enter the new NFL season with another organization once again. Rosen was Arizona Cardinals’ 10th overall pick in 2018 but only spent one year with the organization. After landing No.1 overall pick in 2019, Cardinals drafted Oklahoma’s Kyler Murray to be their franchise’s QB and traded Rosen to Miami for a second-round pick.

While Rosen struggled in his first two seasons in the NFL, posting 3-13 as a starter, the truth is that the organizations he played with didn’t do him much favor. Both Miami and Arizona were league’s worst teams in seasons he played there and had disastrous offensive lines.

The fact is that Rosen still has a reputation of a talented QB, and it isn’t surprising that teams are still willing to take a gamble on him. Who knows, maybe the third time will be the charm.

Miami Dolphins will give Josh Rosen an opportunity to prove he can be a franchise quarterback after all. According to several media reports, Miami will make Rosen the starting QB for the Sunday’s game against the Dallas Cowboys.

After a shutout loss against the New England Patriots on Sunday, Dolphins’ head coach Brian Flores reiterated his determination to keep journeyman QB Ryan Fitzpatrick as the starter. However, NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport broke the news on Thursday that Flores had a change of hearts and will give Rosen a chance in Week 3 after all.

In the first two games, Fitzpatrick threw for only 274 yards and one touchdown while notching four interceptions. Dolphins also scored just 10 points in those two games, while allowing league-high 102 points.

Dolphins acquired Josh Rosen in April, sending a second-round pick to Arizona Cardinals. Rosen, who was Cardinals’ 10th pick in 2018, previously started 13 games in his rookie season, completing 55.2 percent of his passes for 2,278 yards and 11 touchdowns.

Since coming to Miami, Rosen made four preseason appearances in which he completed 62.2 percent of his passes for 352 yards. He also played as a relief for Fitzpatrick in the first two games of the regular season, throwing for 102 yards and two interceptions.

While Rosen’s talent is undeniable, it seems like he is once again in a situation where he is set for failure. Dolphins have traded away most of their key players, and have a week o-line, which was one of Rosen’s biggest issues while he was with Arizona. Whether one year of experience will help him overcome the deficits of the team in his second attempt remains to be seen.

It’s hard to be a New York Giants’ fan these days. The team is slowly becoming a laughingstock of the NFL thanks to a combination of poor performances on the field and even worse front office decisions. There is no reason for optimism that things will get better since the team has an aging quarterback in Eli Manning, who is on the decline for the past several years, and no succession plan. Oh, and to top that, the Giants recently decided to trade away the generational talent that is Odell Beckham Jr.

So, the only logical question that one can ask is: “What’s next for New York Giants?”

Well, hopefully, the answer is trading for Arizona Cardinals’ QB Josh Rosen since that’s the only way this team can turn things around and return to their winning ways.

We can all agree that the quarterback is the most important position in football. Having talented running backs and wide receivers or intimidating defense can win games, but it is the great QBs that win Super Bowls and give the franchise its stability. While Rosen might not give the Giants Super Bowls in the near future, he can give them stability for sure.

So why is Josh Rosen a perfect answer to the New York Giants’ problems?

First of all, he is talented and has an amazing upside. Rosen’s stats in his rookie year don’t paint the real picture since Cardinals had a terrible offensive line and lacked weapons to surround their young QB. Still, he managed to show flashes of brilliance and hint at what he could eventually become: above average QB with a strong and accurate arm that adopts an intelligent approach to the game. Let us not forget that he also didn’t have a proper mentor in Arizona, but in New York, he could benefit from Manning’s experience and learn under him.

Secondly, Josh Rosen would fit the Giants’ system perfectly. He is a similar type of calm-under-pressure quarterback as Eli with both of them being pocket passers and lacking a run game. This would make the transition largely pain-free. Even more, compared to Manning, Rosen could end up being a more accurate thrower of the football while also being able to improvise when it gets rough as he has done many times in college.

Finally, Rosen could be acquired for cheap.

The worst kept secret in the league is that the Cardinals will spend the No.1 pick in this year’s draft on Oklahoma’s QB Kyler Murray as they think he fits better in the system of their new coach Kliff Kingsbury. This will make Rosen expendable, and the word is on the street that Arizona might end up taking a second-round pick for him despite drafting him 10th overall just a year ago.

Spending a second-rounder for a first-round talent should be a no brainer for Giants, especially since they were reportedly drafting a QB in the first round of this year’s draft. Instead of spending their No. 6 or No. 17 picks on Dwayne Haskins or Drew Lock, who both were inferior in the college level compared to Rosen’s accomplishments on UCLA, they can make a bargain deal with Cardinals while using their first-rounders to address some other issues and put themselves in position to succeed in the future.

So, will New York Giants do the smart thing and trade for Josh Rosen? Unfortunately, the reality is that they probably won’t as clearly, they are in the business of making their fans miserable and don’t mean to wrap that up anytime soon. Also, while Giants get caught up in all the tinkering and weighing pros and cons, someone else will step in (New England Patriots?) and snatch Rosen right under their nose.

But, hey! It isn’t all that dark. New York still has one talented quarterback who will excite football fans in the city. It’s just a shame he is wearing the Jets’ uniform.

Miami Dolphins’ third-year quarterback Josh Rosen could be on the move again. According to NFL Media’s Michael Giardi, several NFL teams have been making calls in regards to Rosen’s availability.
