The Jacksonville Jaguars managed to hammer out a long-term deal with their Pro Bowl linebacker Josh Allen. The Jags announced on Wednesday that Allen inked a new five-year contract with the franchise.

Allen played out his rookie contract in 2023, which forced the Jaguars to use a $24 million franchise tag in March in order to avoid losing him in free agency. The two sides continued negotiations in the following weeks and have now come to an agreement that keeps Allen in Jacksonville for the foreseeable future.

The Jags didn’t disclose the financial terms of the deal, but ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports it is a five-year, $150 million pact that comes with $88 million in guaranteed money. It makes Allen just the third defensive player in the NFL with an annual salary of $30 million or more.

Since entering the league in 2019 as a seventh overall pick out of Kentucky, Josh Allen established himself as one of the best, if not the best, defensive players for the Jags. This was particularly obvious last season when Allen broke the Jaguars’ franchise record with 17.5 sacks and earned his second Pro Bowl appearance.

“I’m extremely blessed and honored to get this paycheck, or to get these checks, but I still set goals for myself. Defensive Player of the Year is my next goal. Winning a Super Bowl, being an MVP,” Allen said after his new deal was officially confirmed.

Josh Allen overcame an injury scare to help the Buffalo Bills to a 24-18 win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Thursday night. Allen’s first injury concern came with 11:51 remaining in the second quarter when he was tackled to the ground by linebacker YaYa Diaby. He landed on his right throwing shoulder, yet was able to get back to his feet and shake off the discomfort.

“Took a little, little fall on it and felt a little funky about it, but you know, just trying to keep it warm and keep it loose,” Allen explained after the game. “I’ll be sore for a couple of days, but we’ll be fine.” While backup Kyle Allen was prepped to take his place, the first-choice quarterback was able to continue playing.

Allen’s health is of utmost importance to the Bills and the player has become less involved in rushing as a result. His shoulder was previously injured in the Bills’  14-9 win over the Giants in Week 6 after which he was listed on the injured report.

The Buffalo Bills’ star quarterback Josh Allen will be on the cover of the latest edition of the popular football video game Madden NFL. He became the first Bills player to receive the honor.

Allen shared the news on social media on Tuesday, posting a photo of the Madden NFL 24 cover with his face on it and describing it as “a childhood dream come true.”

In a chat with ESPN, Allen said that he never imagined being selected as a cover athlete for Madden NFL, especially considering all the obstacles he had to overcome during his career.

“It’s such a small group of people who have ever touched the face of Madden, so now to be on that list, it’s very surreal. It’s very humbling,” Allen told ESPN. “To think about where I was not too long ago and coming out of high school with zero offers, going to junior college and have one offer, the University of Wyoming of all places, and then fast-forward to now.”

Allen was one of the highest-rated quarterbacks in the previous edition of the game. He started with an overall grade of 92 and got up to 96 at one point before finishing at 93 overall after the season wrapped up.

Considering he became the face of Madden NFL 24, Allen is now hoping that he will get a slight boost this time around.

“I’m a logical man, and I think it’s going to be a little bit above 92, but until I get to that 99 club, I’ll be working hard,” he added.

With their blowout win over their divisional rivals the New England Patriots, the Buffalo Bills have secured their first 12-win season since 1993, which was the last time the team made it to the Super Bowl.

It was a record-setting night for the team and also the first time since 1999 that the Bills defeated the Patriots in both of their in-season meetings, signaling a changing of the guard after well over a decade of dominance by the Patriots in the AFC East.

The story of the night has been the biggest story of the season for the Bills—and that’s the connection between their young franchise quarterback Josh Allen and wide receiver Stefon Diggs, who the Minnesota Vikings traded to Buffalo this offseason.

They connected for three touchdowns in the 38-9 win over the Patriots, and set records while doing so.

Allen had four total touchdown passes on the night, breaking the single-season franchise record of team legend Jim Kelly.

Allen now has 34 touchdown passes on the year with one more game to go before the playoffs. Allen also set a record for most games in a season, throwing for more than 300 yards. He now has eight of those games.

Diggs now has 1,383 receiving yards on the year, breaking the franchise record for the most receiving yards in one season that Eric Moulds held since 1998.

The Buffalo Bills are playoff-bound for the second consecutive season.

However, this time they will be entering the postseason as AFC East champions, which is something that they haven’t been able to do since 1995.

This may put some perspective into how long it’s been since the Bills were sitting atop their division. The last time it happened, which was in 1995, Bills star quarterback Josh Allen wasn’t even born yet.

The strong-armed Allen led the Bills to a dominant 48-19 win over the Denver Broncos on Saturday.

The tide is turning in the AFC East, with the Bills and Dolphins leading the division. The New England Patriots, who have dominated the division for well over a decade, were officially eliminated from the playoffs on Sunday.

In the first four years of Sean McDermott’s head coaching tenure with the Bills, they have made the postseason now in three of the four years. Both previous playoff appearances came on the back of a strong defense, but this year, it has been all about their young franchise quarterback and the offense.

On Saturday against the Broncos, Allen once again found a great connection with his favorite target, wide receiver Stefon Diggs, who came over from the Minnesota Vikings this season. Diggs caught 11 of the 13 passes thrown to him on Saturday for 147 yards and set a franchise record for the most receptions in a single season.

Allen finished the game going 28-40 for 359 yards and four touchdowns, two throwing and two that he ran in himself.

After leading Buffalo Bills to a 4-0 start in the first four weeks, quarterback Josh Allen became a hot pick for this year’s NFL MVP award. But Allen will now have a tough time remaining in the MVP talks after delivering a struggling display in the 26-17 loss to Kansas City Chiefs on Monday night.

Allen finished the game against the Chiefs by completing just 14 out of 27 passes attempted while throwing for 157 yards. The 24-year-old Allen did have two touchdowns but tarnished this by having an interception and making costly overthrows.

“We weren’t good enough—I was not good enough,” said Allen after the game. “I got to do a better job, it’s plain and simple, I didn’t play very good tonight. I know that. I understand that. This team can’t afford to have me play poorly.”

After delivering inconsistent performances in the 2018 and 2019 season, it looked like Allen took a step forward this year and will remove any doubts about his status of Bills’ QB of the future. Throughout the first four games in 2020, the University of Wyoming product threw for impressive 1,326 yards while adding 12 touchdowns. He was also completing an impressive 70.9 percent of his passes and had just one INT next to his name.

However, Josh Allen’s game fell apart in Week 5 against Tennessee Titans, when he completed just 63 percent of his passes and threw two interceptions. The outing against Kansas City is arguably even worse, causing the doubts about Allen’s ability to become a factor in the league to surface once again.

Of course, it would be too soon to write off Allen or Bills after just two poor games against Super Bowl contenders. A lot more telling will be the Week 7, when they meet the winless New York Jets.

This could be a perfect chance for Allen to have a bounce-back performance, but also a red alert for Buffalo if he continues to struggle.

There were many people who weren’t too happy with the way Buffalo Bills’ quarterback Josh Allen played in his rookie season and are already calling him a “bust.” But if you ask Bill’s new wide receiver Cole Beasley, they just didn’t watch enough film on the young QB.

Beasley, who recently joined the Bills on a four-year, $29 million contract, recently  talked about Allen and said that the 22-year-old doesn’t deserve the criticism he receives.

“[I watched the] film. You can see it,” – Beasley said according to NYup.com. “It doesn’t matter what people say. You can tell what a guy’s about by watching him play. I’ve seen clips of him. I’ve seen him do things with his legs and the way he throws the ball. I just want to come here and help him as much as I can.”

According to Beasley, Allen was one of the reasons he chose the Bills in the first place.

“[He’s] a good dude,” – he added. “I love that [he was the first to call]. It’s just the willingness to get better and work. You always can get better no matter what stage you are in your career. I could tell and hear it through the phone that he was hungry and eager to get better. He wants to do this thing the right way and turn this thing around.”

Josh Allen, who was taken seventh overall by Buffalo in 2018 NFL Draft, started the last season as a backup to Nathan Peterman. He quickly assumed the starting QB position after Peterman was benched in Week 1 game against the Baltimore Ravens when he posted 0.0 passer rating.

Allen ended up playing 12 games in his rookie season, showing big inconsistency but also flashes of his talent and amazing arm strength. He finished the year completing 52.8 percent of his passes for 2,074 yards and 10 touchdowns while adding 631 rushing yards and eight rushing touchdowns.

After their starting quarterback Josh Allen injured his elbow against Houston Texans on Sunday, Buffalo Bills decided they won’t go with his backup Nathan Peterman. Instead, Bills’ coach Sean McDermott confirmed that recently signed veteran Derek Anderson would start in Week 7 game against the Indianapolis Colts.

Derek is a guy that I’ve been around in Carolina,” – McDermott told reporters. “He brings experience, leadership presence to the table and he’s worked hard the last week, week and a half, to get up to speed.”

Josh Allen suffered an elbow sprain in the third quarter of Sunday’s game, and he is reportedly set to miss “multiple weeks” recovering. The good thing for the Bills is that Allen won’t have to undergo surgery.

While Nathan Peterman started the 2018 season as the Bills’ starting quarterback, he was benched in the opener against Baltimore Ravens after throwing two interceptions. Peterman continued to be interception-prone after he replaced Allen on Sunday, throwing two interceptions in the closing minutes of the game.

Bills are hoping that a veteran like Derek Anderson will be more careful with the ball and provide the team’s offense with badly needed stability although he has 60-60 touchdowns to interception ratio. Anderson played 75 games (47 as a starter) since entering the NFL in 2005 and has completed 867 out of 1,604 passes for 10,413 yards.

Although rookie quarterback Josh Allen is undoubtedly the future of Buffalo Bills, he will have to wait a while to get a taste of NFL regular season game. Bills announced on Monday that Allen, seventh overall pick in the 2017 draft, won’t be the team’s Week 1 starter and that Nathan Peterman will take the job instead.

Nate has earned the right,” – said Bills head coach Sean McDermott while speaking to reporters. “I thought his total body of work, all the way back from the spring through the summer and fall camp to this point — he has certainly earned the right.”

Nathan Peterman played exceptionally well in the offseason, completing 33 out of his 41 passes for 431 yards, and managing three touchdowns. But the Bills’ fans won’t be too excited, considering Peterman’s antics last season. The 2017’s fifth-round pick received several opportunities to start for the Bills last season, and he wasn’t able to deal with the pressure. The most memorable feat of Peterman’s 2017 season is Week 11 game against the LA Chargers in which he threw five interceptions in the first half alone and ended up being benched. Maybe things will be different this time?

Josh Allen, on the other hand, showed flashes of his talent in the preseason, but that wasn’t enough to win the starting job. He started the Bills’ third preseason game against the Cincinnati Bengals but had a poor showing which included completing 6 of 12 passes for 34 yards while getting sacked five times.

According to coach McDermott, the team is now focused on Allen getting used to the NFL and developing in the right direction.

“Josh is on schedule,” – he said. “I’ve been very pleased with the way he’s developed to this point in time. Listen, you learn a lot from the first game of the regular season, whether you’re playing or not playing when it’s your first time. I can just go back to my first time and being a part of the first game in my career. You learn an awful lot. But that being said, I expect that Josh will be ready to go when his number is called, whenever it is called. That’s his focus right now.

The Buffalo Bills are playoff-bound for the second consecutive season.

However, this time they will be entering the postseason as AFC East champions, which is something that they haven’t been able to do since 1995.
