The Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow is set to miss the rest of the season after suffering a torn ligament in his right wrist. While Bengals coach Zac Taylor explained that initial information showed that Burrow may be able to make a full recovery, it is still unclear as to whether he will need surgery.

Burrow was injured during Thursday’s 34-20 loss to the Baltimore Ravens. The quarterback fell on his wrist after he was hit by Ravens defensive end Jadeveon Clowney. While able to make a touchdown pass on the next play, Burrow subsequently went down in pain, unable to play the remainder of the game.

“I felt a pop in the middle of the throw,” Burrow explained. “I tried to give it a go but couldn’t get it done.” Unsure of the seriousness of the injury, the Bengals medical team was able to confirm on Friday that Burrow’s setback was a severe one. Still, Burrow explained that he will remain at his teammates’ side as they continue the season.

Quarterback Joe Burrow has agreed to a five-year $275 million extension with the Cincinnati Bengals, sources revealed late on Thursday. The deal, which includes $219.01 million guaranteed, makes Burrow the highest-paid player in NFL history.

Following weeks of negotiations and media speculation on Burrow’s future, the quarterback clarified his position on the Bengals when speaking to reporters. “This is where I want to be,” the star quarterback declared. “This is where I want to be my whole career. We’re working toward making that happen. You’ve seen what the front office has done and what Zac [Taylor] has done in their time here. I’m a small part of that. I’m excited to be a part of that.”

While Burrow suffered a right calf injury at the beginning of training camp, he is expected to be fit to play in Week 1 when the Bengals take on an intrastate matchup against an AFC North rival. He is currently a full participant in training including fully padded practices.

Despite being eligible for a contract extension since the offseason started, Cincinnati Bengals’ star quarterback Joe Burrow still didn’t get one. But the good news for the Bengals’ fans is that the two sides are working on it.

Burrow confirmed the ongoing extension talks during a press conference on Tuesday but said that he and the Bengals prefer to keep the details to themselves.

“I’m involved. That’s in the works,” Burrow told reporters. “That’s not really something that I like to play out in the media. That’s something — just the way, I think, they want to do business, I want to do business, we prefer to keep that between us.”

This offseason already saw two young star quarterbacks sign new long-term deals with their franchises. The Philadelphia Eagles signed Jalen Hurts to a five-year, $255 million contract in mid-April, followed by the Baltimore Ravens, who inked Lamar Jackson to a five-year, $260 million deal.

Their respective deals caused Hurts and Jackson to become the highest-paid players in the leagues at one point, and the same will likely happen with Burrow when he inks an extension of his own.

In his three seasons with the Bengals, Joe Burrow completed 68.2 percent of his passes while throwing for 11,774 yards and 82 touchdowns. He led the franchise to consecutive AFC Championship trips in the past two seasons and a Super Bowl XXIII appearance in 2021.

The Cincinnati Bengals know that the day when they will have to pay quarterback Joe Burrow is coming soon. And it appears they are prepared to do that without batting an eye.

Speaking at a media gathering on Monday, Bengals’ president Mike Brown told reporters that the entire focus of the franchise is to keep Burrow as their quarterback.

“I can tell you that we couldn’t be happier with Joe Burrow,” Brown said. “He’s everything you would wish for, especially for a quarterback in Cincinnati. Our whole focus is going to be on keeping him here.”

Brown said that he’s aware of the salaries for top signal-callers but still hasn’t given it a thought about the number Burrow might command.

“Really, I haven’t thought about it much right now,” he added.

The good thing for Brown is that he has one more year before an extension for Burrow becomes a pressing issue. The former LSU star is heading into the third year of his rookie deal and will become an extension—eligible in the 2023 NFL offseason.

After a knee injury derailed his rookie season, Joe Burrow showed in 2021 that the Bengals made the right choice when they selected him No.1 overall two years ago. Burrow finished the regular part of the campaign with 4,611 yards, 34 touchdowns, and 14 picks before leading Cincinnati to a Super Bowl appearance. This was the first Super Bowl trip for the Bengals in 33 years.

Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow didn’t manage to lead his team to a win over the Green Bay Packers in Week 5, but he at least got a new fan. And that’s none other than reigning NFL MVP Aaron Rodgers.

During his weekly appearance on the Pat McAfee Show, Rodgers revealed that he’s impressed with Burrow and how he has been playing since entering the league.

“I’m a Joe Burrow fan, and I enjoy the way he goes about his business. I enjoy the way he plays with confidence,” Rodgers told host Pat McAfee.

Rodgers then detailed a chat he had with Burrow after the game when he told the 2020 first-round pick that he needs to “slide” more.

“You’ve got so much in front of you to accomplish in this league…sometimes you gotta just slide,” the Packers’ signal-caller told Burrow.

Rodgers referred to Burrow occasionally running with the ball and trying to gain yards by breaking tackles instead of sliding to the ground to protect himself as most other QBs do.

Check out the part where Rodgers talks about Burrow in the video below.

Joe Burrow is putting together an impressive campaign in 2021, completing 71.7 percent of his passes while throwing for 1,269 yards and 11 touchdowns through the first five weeks of the season. His stellar performances fueled Cincinnati to a 3-2 record and second spot in AFC North.

Cincinnati Bengals rookie quarterback Joe Burrow, who was the first pick in the 2020 NFL draft, will miss the last six games of the season.

Burrow was hit in the right knee while making a throw in the third quarter in the 20-9 loss against the Washington Football Team.

The Bengals have confirmed that Burrow has a torn ACL and will need to have surgery.

The no. 1 pick was playing very well in his rookie season, despite the many deficiencies his team has. Many believed that Burrow was the leader in the Rookie of the Year race heading into Week 11.

Protecting their young franchise quarterback needs to be a priority for the Bengals and they must focus on upgrading their offensive line in the coming offseason through the draft and free agency.

In the first nine games of the season, Burrow was hit 72 times.

Despite being constantly under pressure, Burrow has been able to show his potential and make it clear why he was the first player taken in the draft.

In the first nine games of his career, Burrow threw for more than 300 yards in five games, which is the second-most in NFL history by a rookie.

It is safe to say that Cincinnati Bengals’ rookie quarterback Joe Burrow is living up to the hype steamed from his selection as the No.1 overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft. After promising performances in previous weeks, Burrow led the Bengals to a 33-25 win over Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday while making history in the process.

Burrow finished the contest by completing 25 out of 36 passes attempted, throwing for 300 yards, and a touchdown. This marked his third straight game in which he had 300 or more passing yards, which no rookie in NFL history managed to accomplish before.

This was the second week in which Burrow set an NFL record. In Week 3, the 23-year-old LSU product clocked 91 completions, which is ever by a QB through hist first three NFL starts.

“We got the win, that’s all I care about,” said Burrow after the game. “It feels good to win, I’m gonna do whatever it takes to win football games. I’ll throw it zero or 100 times, I’ll throw for seven or 500 it doesn’t matter to me.”

Besides more-than-solid play by Burrow, the Bengals also benefited from a big night from running back Joe Mixon, who exploded for 151 rushing yards and two rushing touchdowns while adding another catch TD.

So far, Joe Burrow-led Bengals are playing above expectations, sitting at a 1-2-1 record. Their real test, however, comes next week when they head to Baltimore where they will face high-flying Ravens.

Cincinnati Bengals have officially locked quarterback Joe Burrow, their No.1 pick in 2020 NFL Draft, to a contract. According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, Bengals and Burrow came to terms on a four-year, $36 million rookie deal.

Rapoport reports that Burrow’s deal is fully guaranteed and comes with a $23.9 million signing bonus. As expected, this is the biggest deal given to a rookie from the 2020 draft class. Behind him are Washington’s pass rusher Chase Young, who got $34.6 million, and Detroit Lions’ cornerback Jeff Okudah with $33.5 million.

Burrow signing his deal means that all top 20 picks in the 2020 NFL draft are under contract. Out of the 32 first-round picks, only offensive tackle Isaiah Wilson, Tennessee Titans’ 29th overall pick is still unsigned.

After being the worst NFL team last season, Cincinnati Bengals spent the first overall pick on Joe Burrow, hoping the LSU product will help turn around their franchise. Burrow is coming from a historically good senior year at college in which he led the LSU to National Championship.

Burrow finished the 2019 NCAA season with record 202.0 passing rating and 60 touchdowns while adding college-leading 5,671 passing yards. He won all the major college awards last season, including the prestigious Heisman Trophy.

Cincinnati Bengals were the first one the clock when the 2020 NFL Draft officially started on Thursday night, and it’s safe to say that there were no surprises when they announced their pick. Bengals took LSU’s quarterback Joe Burrow first overall and officially kicked off a new era for their franchise.

Burrow joins Bengals after arguably the most impressive season by a college QB in the history of the game. In 2019, he led LSU to a national championship title while winning a Heisman Trophy and completing impressive 76.3% of his passes for 5,671 yards and NCAA record 60 touchdowns.

Burrow is now expected to take over the troubled Cincinnati Bengals franchise and transform it into a winning organization. Bengals have missed the playoffs for the past four years while their last postseason win came three decades ago.

“You’ve led every single team you’ve ever played for to a championship, and that expectation does not change now that you’re a Bengal, and I’m looking forward to going through that process with you,” Bengals’ head coach Zac Taylor told Burrow shortly before the pick will be made official.

Burrow, on the other hand, is just as eager to get on with the work and grind his way to greatness.

“Ready to get to practice,” he responded. “Tired of all the talking. Ready to start working out again.”

The remaining nine picks also didn’t see many surprises, as Washington Redskins took Ohio State’s pass rusher Chase Young with the No.2 pick while his fellow Buckeye, cornerback Jeff Okudah, went third overall to Detroit Lions.

New York Giants made a bit of a head-scratching move when they selected Georgia’s offensive tackle Andrew Thomas with the fourth overall pick. While the Giants needed an OT, Thomas was considered only the third-best prospect at the position.

Miami Dolphins and Los Angeles Chargers also got their quarterbacks of the future, selecting Alabama’s Tua Tagovailoa and Oregon’s Justin Herbert, respectively.

Green Bay Packers arguably made the most shocking move in the first round, when they traded up to No.26 in order to draft Utah State’s signal-caller Jordan Love. The Packers were believed to be in a market for an offensive weapon to help their Pro Bowl quarterback Aaron Rodgers, but instead, they selected his replacement.

The second round and third round of 2020 NFL Draft kicks off on Friday night while the rest of the rounds will play out over the weekend.
