Quarterback Joe Burrow has agreed to a five-year $275 million extension with the Cincinnati Bengals, sources revealed late on Thursday. The deal, which includes $219.01 million guaranteed, makes Burrow the highest-paid player in NFL history.

Following weeks of negotiations and media speculation on Burrow’s future, the quarterback clarified his position on the Bengals when speaking to reporters. “This is where I want to be,” the star quarterback declared. “This is where I want to be my whole career. We’re working toward making that happen. You’ve seen what the front office has done and what Zac [Taylor] has done in their time here. I’m a small part of that. I’m excited to be a part of that.”

While Burrow suffered a right calf injury at the beginning of training camp, he is expected to be fit to play in Week 1 when the Bengals take on an intrastate matchup against an AFC North rival. He is currently a full participant in training including fully padded practices.
