The Boston Celtics’ star Jayson Tatum finally has an ejection from an NBA game on his resume. Tatum was ejected for the first time in his pro career on Monday night in a 109-94 loss to the New York Knicks.

The 24-year-old All-Star got flagged for his second technical foul late in the fourth quarter after appearing to argue with the referees. The second technical brought to an end a frustrating night for Tatum that saw him shoot 6-18 from the field, including just 1-9 on three-pointers and scoring 14 points.

Speaking with reporters after the game, Tatum said that he wasn’t sure why he had been ejected. However, he didn’t seem to feel too bad about it.

“But all the great players get thrown out a few times in their career,” Tatum added. “So, it’s good for my rep.”

Jayson Tatum is currently playing his best season as a pro. He is averaging career highs in minutes (37.3), points (30.1), rebounds (8.7), and assists (4.7). As a result, the Boston Celtics have been the top team in the NBA for the better part of the season.

However, the loss to the Knicks temporarily knocked the Celtics from the top of the Eastern Conference. They dropped to the No. 2 with a 44-18 record, while the Milwaukee Bucks moved to the first seed at 43-17.

Entering the 2023 NBA All-Star game, LeBron James has captained his teams to five straight wins since the league introduced a new format with captains and drafts. But Jayson Tatum’s big scoring night saw that streak end on Sunday.

Tatum scored an All-Star record 55 points to lead his Team Giannis to a 184-175 win while receiving MVP honors in the process.

Speaking with the reporters after the game, Tatum was emotional about receiving the Kobe Bryant All-Star MVP trophy, considering he grew up admiring the late Los Angeles Lakers’ superstar and has modeled his game after him.

“It’s extremely special to me,” Tatum told reporters. “My first All-Star Game was in Chicago in 2020 when they renamed the MVP after him, and I remember telling myself that someday I got to get one of those.”

The first quarter of the game saw both teams tied at 46-46, after which Team Giannis took command of the game. Team Lebron couldn’t stop Tatum while they were also scorched by Donovan Mitchell, who went on to finish the night with 40 points. However, it was reserve Damian Lillard who ended up scoring the winning shot under the Elam Ending rule just like he did two years ago.

It is important to note that the captains of both teams didn’t spend much time on the court. Giannis Antetokounmpo, who is nursing a wrist injury, checked out after scoring on the first possession, while James played only one half.

The Boston Celtics forward Jayson Tatum won the first-ever Larry Bird Eastern Conference Finals MVP Award after helping his team to the Eastern Conference title with a dramatic win over Miami Heat. The contest, which went all the way to seven games, ended with the Celtics grabbing a late 100-96 victory over the Heat.

Tatum played a critical role in the Celtics’ narrow win, averaging 25 points, 5.6 assists, and 8.3 rebounds throughout the conference finals. He also played a crucial role in stabilizing Boston’s defense which exhibited vulnerability during the early stages of the season.

Prior to his game-changing performance against Miami, Tatum enjoyed a slew of memorable moments throughout the playoffs, which included shutting down Kevin Durandt during the 4-0 series win over the Brooklyn Nets and going up against Milwaukee’s Giannis Antetokounmpo to pull the Celtics through to a 4-3 series win.

In addition to Tatum’s strong showing, the Celtics also showed a remarkable improvement in their performances throughout the season. Boston began the current season with an underwhelming 23-24 record before gradually climbing their way up to 2nd place on the Eastern Conference rankings.

Game 1 of the First Round matchup between the Boston Celtics and the Brooklyn Nets was everything we hoped for and then some. The exciting back-and-forth contest fittingly ended with Jayson Tatum’s buzzer-beater that gave the Celtics a narrow 115-114 win.

The first half was an even contest that saw both teams having stretches of dominance but neither managing to get the upper hand. However, this changed in the third quarter when the Celtics took over the game and outscored the Nets 35-24.

Still, Brooklyn had no intentions of giving up. They stormed back in the fourth period thanks to the heroics of Kyrie Irving and even had a 5-point lead with less than five minutes left in the game.

Still, the Nets didn’t manage to capitalize on their comeback. Boston, down by one, got one last shot with the time running down and got the most of it. Marcus Smart faked a three, entered the paint, and dished the ball to Tatum, who made a nifty spin and laid the ball into the basket just in time to beat the buzzer.

Tatum finished the contest with 31 points while adding eight assists and four rebounds. Smart added 20 points, six assists, and seven boards, while Jaylen Brown also contributed with 23.

Irving was the key player for the Nets, having 39 points, six assists, four rebounds, and four steals. His fellow All-Star Kevin Durant had 23 points, while no other Brooklyn player got more than 14.

The Nets and the Celtics meet again on Wednesday at the TD Garden for Game 2.

With the FIBA Basketball World Cup well underway, Boston Celtics’ forward Jayson Tatum suffered a sprained ankle in the latter stages of his team’s overtime win over Turkey on Tuesday.

The injury occurred as Tatum rolled his left ankle while performing a no-look pass to USA teammate Khris Middleton during overtime. According to ESPN’s Brian Windhorst, this is only a minor sprain, and the 21-year-old will be re-evaluated on Wednesday.

Tatum’s potential unavailability for selection comes as troubling news for the 12-man USA roster, who were relying on Tatum as well as Utah Jazz’s Donovan Mitchell and San Antonio Spurs’ Derrick White in the position of Guard.

Even with the appearances of Jayson Tatum, Team USA have endured a tumultuous start to the tournament so far. While the Americans defeated Greece 67-88 in their opening game of the tournament, they found life a lot more difficult during their encounter with a dangerous Turkish side, narrowly clinching victory by one point during overtime.

Also important to note were the four late free throws that were missed by the Turkish side-any of which could have altered the outcome of the game.

Just when it seemed that Boston Celtics found their footing after struggling for better part of the season, the team was hit with another setback just in time for the playoffs. In the match against Orlando Magic, which was their final home game of the season, Celtics did not only suffered 116-108 loss but also saw Jayson Tatum and Marcus Smart suffering injuries.

Tatum, who is Boston’s second-leading scorer with 15.9 points per game, played only six minutes against Orlando before exiting the game. The 21-year-old, who was previously dealing with a shin contusion, said after the game that his leg felt “funny” after one jump and that he didn’t want to risk a more severe injury.

“Tatum had a shin contusion that evidently he had before the game, and I didn’t know about it,” – said Celtics’ head coach Brad Stevens. “But he just said it felt a little off when he jumped, so, you know, hopefully, it’s nothing major, but he’ll get checked out tonight and tomorrow and we’ll go from there.”

Smart, on the other hand, left the game against Magic in the third quarter after scoring six points and having four steals. According to Celtics’, the 25-year-old guard suffered an oblique bruise.

“Marcus Smart has an oblique bruise, which means he got hit right there,” – said Stevens. “And so, I guess that’s better than a strain or whatever, but we’ll see what that looks like tomorrow.  He was a little sore but was walking around, which was good, in the locker room. So obviously, I’m glad we got out of there without anything else after that.”

Jayson Tatum and Marcus Smart are a big part of Boston Celtics’ rotation, so the team hopes that they won’t have to miss significant time. Both should be ready by the start of the playoffs, but further information will be revealed in the upcoming days.
