The Jacksonville Jaguars are planning to play quarterback Trevor Lawrence in Sunday’s game against the Cleveland Browns, sources confirmed late Saturday. Still, the quarterback will need to be evaluated during pregame warmups in order to confirm his eligibility.

Lawrence incurred a high ankle sprain six days ago during the Jags’ 31-34 loss to the Cincinnati Bengals on Monday night.  Jaguars coach Doug Pederson provided an update on Lawrence’s status on Friday, stating that the quarterback was “feeling good” and had “moved around a little bit” at Thursday’s practice session.

While this injury usually sidelines players for weeks, Lawrence will hope to continue his streak of never missing a game due to injury throughout his high school, college, and NFL career.

While Lawrence remains officially listed as questionable for the Browns game, backup quarterback C.J. Beathard is prepared to start should the first-choice quarterback show any signs of ineligibility during the pre-game warmups.

The Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence is set to undergo additional testing to determine the extent of the right ankle injury he suffered during Monday night’s 34-31 overtime loss to the Cincinnati Bengals. Lawrence was injured during the fourth quarter when left tackle Walker Little was pushed back and he stepped on Lawrence’s ankle. After initially trying to get back up, the quarterback fell back to his knees.

Lawrence was subsequently assisted off the field by the Jags’ medical team and taken to the team’s locker room and X-ray area. Jags coach Doug Pederson was unable to provide an update on Lawrence’s status after the game, with the player requiring additional testing in order to determine the severity of his injury.

Backup quarterback C.J. Beathard is ready to fill in for Lawrence should he be unavailable. “We’ll see where Trevor’s at first, but we’ve got 100% confidence in C.J,” Pederson declared. “He’s a veteran player. He’s played a lot of football, and if he happens to be the guy, then we’ll get behind him and support him.”

Injury-riddled Jacksonville Jaguars signed former all-pro star Jamaal Charles to a one-year deal on Wednesday, the team announced.

The Jaguars were without a running back after No.3 pick Corey Grant was sidelined with a Lisfranc injury on his left foot. Grant was injured in Sunday’s 30-14 loss to the City Chiefs, leaving the T.J. Yeldon as the Jaguars’ only quality, healthy running back. Jacksonville’ other alternative is little-known Brandon Wilds, but the 26-year-old has only logged 40 yards in 30 carries for four seasons.

Charles previously played for the Kansa Chiefs and was one of the best running backs in the league at his peak. The 31-year-old has peaked 1,000 yards for five seasons, totaled 7,556 rushing yards and 44 rushing touchdowns in the last ten years. He’s only played 117 games out of a possible 165, ranking him seventh for yards and 16th for rushing touchdowns.

After injuries took a toll on his last year, Charles remained unsigned at the beginning of the 2018/19 season. The running back is obviously past his prime, but the Jaguars are in dire need of a quality running back. He averaged 4.3 yards per carry with Denver. A similar performance this season could at least relieve Yeldon the pressure he gets as the Jaguars’ only reliable running back.

Jacksonville Jaguars were hoping to be a contender for Super Bowl this year as well, but now they suffered an unexpected setback. Jaguars announced on Monday that their leading wide receiver in last season, Marqise Lee, would miss the 2018 season due to a knee injury.

Lee suffered the injury in Jags’ 17-6 win over Atlanta Falcons on Saturday, when he was tackled by Falcons safety Damontae Kazee.

According to the team’s head coach, Doug Marrone, Lee is set to have surgery shortly and will be placed on the injured reserve.

Obviously it’s a loss for us,” – said Marrone. “Marqise brought a level of toughness to that room. He was obviously a very productive player for us in the past, specifically on third down. I do feel, though, once he starts recovery we want him around the team. I think he can help us.”

Marrone hopes that the rest of Jacksonville’s receiving core – veteran Donte Moncrief, Keelan Cole, Dede Westbrook, and rookie DJ Chark- will now step up to the task.

I feel very confident about the players that we have at that position,” – he added. “I still it as competition there. We’re not settled on some of the spots at receiver, but we feel that we’re good enough to go into the season with the guys that we think can make the team.

After unimpressive first two seasons in the NFL, Marqise Lee had his big breakthrough in 2016 when he had 63 catches for 851 yards and three touchdowns. He backed that in 2017 as well, catching 56 passes for 702 yards and three touchdowns. After these encouraging showings, Jags gave Lee a four-year, $38 million contract extension in March 2018.

Jacksonville Jaguars could really use some offensive boost in the NFL Wild Card Game against the Buffalo Bills, and wide receiver Marqise Lee is ready to help. Although listed questionable, Lee, who is the team’s leading receivers, says he intends to play unless instructed otherwise.

In my head, [I’ll] just continue to have my head up as far as me playing,” – he said. “If I had to decide, I am going to play until they decide I’m not.

Lee suffered an ankle injury early in the game against the Houston Texans and missed the final two games of the season. During the 13 games, he had 56 receptions for 702 yards and three touchdowns. The Jags missed his presence on the field, losing both games Lee was out.

The 26-year-old WR practiced on a limited basis for the first time on Friday and will have his ankle tested on Sunday. Although he wishes to play in the Jags’ first playoff games since 2007, Lee will only do it if he thinks he can help.

If I felt like I was going to go out there and be hurting and hurt the team, I wouldn’t do it.” – said Lee. “But I feel like I can go out there, give it my all as far as be a solid 100 percent, and go out there and just produce for the team, or just do what they need me to do as far as this point. I feel like I can go out there and do it, so I’m going to go out there and do it.

Jacksonville Jaguars ended the season at the top of AFC South with a 10-6 record. They will have a home advantage on Sunday when they face the Bills. For the Buffalo Bills, a playoff appearance is reason enough to celebrate since it will be their first one in 17 years.

Jacksonville Jaguars face the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday, hoping for another win and clinching the division title, but that might be more difficult without Marqise Lee. The team’s leading receiver was ruled out due to an ankle injury, the team announced on Friday. Lee suffered an injury in the Jaguars 45-7 victory over Houston Texans and didn’t participate in practices.

Drafted by the Jaguars as the 39th overall pick in the 2014 NFL Draft, Lee struggled in his first two seasons with the team. In 2016, however, he had 851 yards and 3 touchdowns, showing signs of promise. This season, he leads the Jaguars with 56 receptions and 702 receiving yards. The game against the 49ers will be the first he will miss since Week 9 of 2015 season.

Another receiver, Allen Hurns, might not play for the Jags on Sunday. He suffered a sprained ankle in Week 10’s 20-17 win against the Los Angeles Chargers. Hurns made a return to practice on Wednesday, but on a limited basis. Before his injury, he had 36 catches for 446 yards alongside two touchdowns.

He’s working hard to get back,” – said Jaguars’ head coach Doug Marrone for the team’s official website. “We’ve got to look at today, see where we are, then we have tomorrow (Saturday) and the flight, then obviously we’ll make a decision.

If both Hurns also remains out with Lee, the duo will be replaced by Jaguars’ young receivers Keelan Cole, Dede Westbrook and Jaydon Mickens. Cole and Mickens already showed that they can be difference makers in the game against the Texans. Cole had seven receptions for 186 yards and a touchdown, while Mickens got two touchdowns which were also the first ones in his career.

Although not participating in practice for the last two days due to a quad injury, Jacksonville Jaguars running back Leonard Fournette said on Friday that he is ready to play through it. The 22-year-old said that he has been massaging and icing the injury in order to make himself capable to play against the Houston Texans on Sunday.

Right now it’s taking care of it, making sure nothing else happens to it,” – said Fournette.

In case that the Jags manage to get a win in the game against the Texans, they will clinch their first playoff appearance since 2007.

Fournette suffered an injury in the third quarter of the Jaguars’ win against the Seattle Seahawks when safety Earl Thomas hit him. Despite the quad injury, Fournette remained in the game and ended it with 101 rushing yards.

This isn’t his first injury of the season, since he already had problems with an ankle injury that lad to him missing Week 7 through Week 9. These problems, however, caused Fournette to learn how to take care of his body.

The running backs take the most licks of anybody on the field and put our bodies on the line,” – he said. “Like I said, that’s our job, and it’s how we bounce back from it by taking care of our bodies, needling [acupuncture] and stuff, the things you do to be a pro athlete.

Leonard Fournette declared himself eligible in the 2017 NFL Draft, after spending three years at the Louisiana State University. He played 31 games for LSU Tigers (24 as a starter) and had 3,830 rushing yards and 40 touchdowns. Jacksonville Jaguars drafted him with the fourth overall pick in the draft. Fournette played 11 games for the Jaguars so far and managed 923 rushing yards and eight touchdowns, while also adding 213 receiving yards and one touchdown.
