Siakam is expected to give the talented Pacers team another stair to pair up with Tyrese Haliburton and Myles Turner while improving their defense. The two-time All-Star is averaging 22.2 points, 6.3 rebounds, and 4.9 assists per game in 2023-24.

“I’m excited that Pascal is getting a first-class opportunity with the Pacers, being paired with Tyrese and Myles and being coached by a great coach in Rick Carlisle,” Siakam’s agent Todd Ramasar said via Andscape. “His future looks bright there.”

The Raptors have been shopping Pascal Siakam ever since he declined to sign an extension with the franchise and opted to become a free agent in the summer. Multiple teams were interested in his services, including the Sacramento Kings and Dallas Mavericks. However, only the Pacers felt confident enough that they might convince Siakam to sign a long-term extension.

The Pacers are currently sixth in the Eastern Conference, sitting at a 23-17 record.

The Indiana Pacers guard Tyrese Haliburton suffered a left hamstring strain during his team’s 133-131 win over the Boston Celtics on Monday night. Pacers head coach Rick Carlisle revealed that Haliburton would undergo an MRI on Tuesday in order to diagnose the issue.

During the second quarter, Haliburton was driving to the hoop before halting in his tracks and slipping. He subsequently did the splits and grabbed at his left thigh before being carried to the locker room by his teammates with 3:10 left in the half. At halftime, the Pacers ruled Haliburton out for the remainder of the game.

The team will be highly concerned for Haliburton given the major impact that he has had on their season. Averaging a team-high 24.2 points and a league-high 12.7 assists across 32 games, he also played a role in leading the Pacers to the Finals of the inaugural NBA in-season tournament.

Theis played only one game for the Pacers in 2023-24, spending eight minutes on the court and scoring two points. The 31-year-old German international was in the final year of his contract with Indiana and was set to earn $9.1 million this season.

The Clippers were in need of frontcourt depth after seeing their backup center Mason Plumlee go down with a knee injury. This left starter Ivica Zubac as the only true center on the roster. Plumlee is expected to miss at least two months while recovering.

Daniel Theis should help the Clippers be more physical under the glass and open more bench units they can utilize when their starters are resting. He is averaging 7.6 points and 4.9 rebounds per game since making his debut in the NBA in 2017-18. The Indiana Pacers are looking to trade their veteran shooting guard Buddy Hield. According to The Athletic’s Shams Charania, the two sides are currently working together to find the best landing spot for the player.

Hield is entering the final year of his contract that pays him $19.2 million in the 2023-24 NBA season. The Pacers have made him an extension offer in recent weeks, but the 30-year-old deemed it unsatisfactory. After it became clear that it would be hard to find common ground, the two sides decided it was time to head their separate ways.

The Pacers are in no rush to trade Hield at the moment and are expected to continue talks with teams through training camp. They are also comfortable with playing him at the start of the season if they fail to get the right offer.

There has been reportedly a substantial interest in Hield from multiple NBA teams, and for a good reason. Hield is considered one of the best three-point shooters in the game, having made the league-leading 1,381 three-pointers in the past five seasons.

Hield is averaging 16.1 points per game since entering the NBA in 2016 and has a 40.2 three-point career percentage. The Bahamas native also won the NBA Three-Point Contest in 2020.

The Indiana Pacers center Myles Turner has agreed to a two-year, $60 million contract extension, his agent Austin Brown of CAA Sports confirmed on Saturday. The deal includes an additional $17.1 million renegotiation on his salary—the largest in NBA history.

As a result of the salary bump, the contract extension will provide Turner with an additional $18 million salary this season as well as an extra $41 million over the next two seasons.

By securing the contract extension, the Pacers prevent Turner from becoming a free agent in the summer. While the 26-year-old was previously expected to depart the team, Indiana decided to do what they could to keep him at the team as they look to build the roster for the future. Turner is viewed as a crucial member of the Pacers’ team, averaging a career-high 17.5 points, 7.9 rebounds, and 2.4 blocks a game to date this season.

Along with Memphis Grizzles’ Jaren Jackson Jr. and Milwaukee Bucks’ Brook Lopez, Turner is one of just three players to make 50 three-pointers and 75 blocks this season.

The Boston Celtics opted to pass on the free agency so far, but that doesn’t mean they won’t have an upgraded roster next season. According to multiple reports, the Celtics made a trade with the Indiana Pacers that saw them acquire point guard Malcolm Brogdon.

ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reports that the Celtics had to give up a 2023 first-rounder and five players in order to land Brogdon. Players heading to Indiana are veteran center Daniel Theis, second-year player Aaron Nesmith, and benchwarmers Nik Stauskas, Malik Fitts and Juwan Morgan.

Brogdon, who was an NBA Rookie of the Year in 2017, dealt with Achilles issues last season and only managed to play 36 games. However, he still managed to have a solid year that saw him average 19.1 points, 5.1 rebounds, and 5.9 assists.

It is easy to see why the Celtics made this deal. After a disappointing meltdown in the NBA Finals this year, it was clear that the team needs more playmaking in their backcourt. Brogdon should provide just that while also bringing reliable shooting and consistent effort on a night-to-night basis.

The Pacers, on the other hand, are doubling down on their rebuild. They can now give the ball to their young guard Tyrese Haliburton while getting assets that they can turn into more talent later on.

Tristan Thompson’s stint with the Indiana Pacers ended sooner than anyone expected. After playing just four games with the franchise, Thompson was shown the way out and is currently in the process of clearing his waivers.

Thompson arrived in Indiana ahead of the trade deadline as part of the deal that sent All-Star Domantas Sabonis to the Sacramento Kings. The 30-year-old Thompson averaged 7.3 points and 4.5 rebounds in the Pacers’ jersey before being waived.

Despite not being wanted by the Pacers, Thompson won’t be on the free-agent market for too long. Indiana’s head coach Rick Carlisle already told reporters after the 113-108 win over the Washington Wizards that the veteran center intends to sign with the Chicago Bulls. The Athletic’s Shams Charania also reported the same news, who said Thompson would join the Bulls once he clears waivers.

Thompson could prove to be a good pickup for the Bulls. He has championship experience and is still a good rebounder and defender who can help take some load off of starter Nikola Vucevic. The move was even endorsed by Chicago’s All-Star DeMar DeRozan, who called Thompson a “great dude,” and a “good friend.”

“Got the utmost respect for him off the court. Obviously, we all know what he brings on the court,” DeRozan added. “Think it will be great addition for us. Veteran leadership.”

Tristan Thompson entered the NBA in 2011 as Cleveland Cavaliers’ fourth overall pick. He spent nine seasons with the franchise, during which he won an NBA championship, before leaving as a free agent and signing with the Boston Celtics in 2020. Thompson, who has career averages of 9.1 points and 8.5 rebounds, spent one year in Boston before being traded to the Kings ahead of the 2021-22 season.

Veteran forward Lance Stephenson will be staying with the Indiana Pacers for the remainder of the 2021-22 NBA season. Pacers confirmed the news on Thursday via social media.

Stephenson previously played on three 10-day contracts with the Pacers. He averaged 9.4 points, 2.9 rebounds, and 4.2 assists in 17 games.

Stephenson was out of the NBA since 2018-19 after deciding to play in China with the Liaoning Flying Leopards. He returned to the United States this season, entering the NBA G League Draft, where he was selected by the Denver Nuggets’ affiliate Grand Rapids Gold.

After averaging 19.8 points in G League, Stephenson got a call from Atlanta Hawks, who signed him to a 10-day deal in late December. He played a marginal role in Atlanta, spending less than 12 minutes on court per contest, but the move did help him find his way back to Indiana.

The 2021-22 season marks Lance Stephenson’s third stint with the Pacers, who drafted him in the second round of the 2010 NBA draft. Stephenson spent four years with the franchise in his first stint before leaving as a free agent in 2014 to sign with the Charlotte Hornets. He then returned for 2017-18 before leaving the following offseason.

Aside from the Pacers and the Hornets, Stephenson played for several more NBA franchises, including the Los Angeles Clippers and the Memphis Grizzlies. His NBA career averages include 8.5 points, 4.2 rebounds, and 2.9 assists per game.

The Indiana Pacers’ shooting guard Caris LeVert has been diagnosed with a stress fracture in his back. Despite the issue, the organization is hopeful that LeVert won’t miss too much time and can be back on the court by the time the 2021-22 NBA season tips off, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.

LeVert is reportedly set to undergo more tests that will reveal the full extent of the injury in the coming days.

LeVert joined Indiana back in January as part of a blockbuster trade that helped the Brooklyn Nets land superstar James Harden. The 27-year-old Michigan product started his stint with the franchise on the sidelines after undergoing surgery to remove a mass on his kidney but made a successful return to court in March. He finished the season playing 35 games in a Pacers jersey and averaged career-high 20.7 points and 4.6 rebounds per contest.

The Pacers were the team that drafted Caris LeVert to the NBA with the number 20 pick in the 2016 NBA Draft but ended up sending him to the Nets in exchange for Thaddeus Young. Levert played four and a half seasons for Brooklyn and averaged 13.1 points, 3.9 rebounds, 3.9 assists, and 1.1 steals per game.

If LeVert can’t return in time to start the season, the Pacers will most likely turn to veteran Jeremy Lamb for extended minutes. Rookie Chris Duarte, the number 13 pick in the 2021 NBA Draft, should get extended playing time in this case as well.

Superstar guard James Harden finally got his wish. According to multiple reports, the Houston Rockets traded Harden to the Brooklyn Nets in a massive trade that also included the Cleveland Cavaliers and Indiana Pacers.

The trade was finalized on Wednesday night and came after Harden pushed for Rockets exit for the better part of the offseason and publicly expressed his unhappiness in recent days.

In exchange for parting ways with one of the best players in the NBA in recent years, the Rockets received a big package that was headlined by the Nets’ three unprotected first-round draft picks in 2022, 2024, and 2026, as well as four pick swaps. Houston also got Pacers All-Star Victor Oladipo, Brooklyn forward Rodions Kurucs, Cavs guard Dante Exum, and a 2022 first-rounder from Cleveland via the Milwaukee Bucks.

Cleveland landed center Jarrett Allen and forward Taurean Prince from Brooklyn in the trade, while Indiana walked away with Nets talented guard Caris LeVert, who was initially supposed to go to Houston, and a 2023 second-round pick from the Rockets.

Brooklyn, on the other hand, got the best player in the deal in Harden and a 2024 second-rounder from the Cavs.

James Harden initially asked for a trade during training camp, but the Rockets weren’t in a hurry to make a deal and opted to sit out and wait for the best offer. Still, the organization decided to fast-track talks with other teams on Tuesday after Harden said that Houston isn’t “good enough” to challenge for the NBA title and that the situation “can’t be fixed” during a press conference.

The trade has massive implications on both the Houston Rockets and Brooklyn Nets, but the rest of the league is also set to feel the consequences.

After being a playoff participant and contender for the better part of the past decade, the Rockets are now going down the rebuilding path. They still have a veteran team that could possibly make a run for the postseason, with John Wall, Oladipo, and Chris Wood on board, but the competition in the West is too big for this to be a realistic goal.

On the bright side, Houston got to replenish their draft chest and now have a much brighter long-term future. Most of their own draft picks were spent on building around James Harden and included trades for Chris Paul and Russell Westbrook.

The Nets parted way with their long-term future but have arguably the scariest trio in the NBA at the moment. With James Harden, Kevin Durant, and Kyrie Irving, Brooklyn has three guys that could easily average more than 25 points per game this season, with each being able to take over the game at any given point.

The trade put the Nets as the biggest favorites to go all the way in 2020-21 behind LA Lakers but also increased the pressure on the organization, first-year head coach Steve Nash, and Harden, Durant, and Irving. They now have to win a title in a two-year window because everything else will be considered a failure of epic proportions.
