The Indiana Pacers are looking to trade their veteran shooting guard Buddy Hield. According to The Athletic’s Shams Charania, the two sides are currently working together to find the best landing spot for the player.

Hield is entering the final year of his contract that pays him $19.2 million in the 2023-24 NBA season. The Pacers have made him an extension offer in recent weeks, but the 30-year-old deemed it unsatisfactory. After it became clear that it would be hard to find common ground, the two sides decided it was time to head their separate ways.

The Pacers are in no rush to trade Hield at the moment and are expected to continue talks with teams through training camp. They are also comfortable with playing him at the start of the season if they fail to get the right offer.

There has been reportedly a substantial interest in Hield from multiple NBA teams, and for a good reason. Hield is considered one of the best three-point shooters in the game, having made the league-leading 1,381 three-pointers in the past five seasons.

Hield is averaging 16.1 points per game since entering the NBA in 2016 and has a 40.2 three-point career percentage. The Bahamas native also won the NBA Three-Point Contest in 2020.
