Milwaukee Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo sat out of his team’s 135-95 loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers after he suffered a bruised right shoulder. The power forward was only added to the team’s official injury report two hours before tipoff.

Prior to being sidelined, Antetokounmpo has played in 29 consecutive games, his longest streak since the 2020-21 season when he played 31. Still, the superstar’s absence could be deeply felt against Cleveland, with the team lacking points on the night.

Antetokounmpo is enjoying a stellar season, averaging 31.2 points and 11.4 rebounds. Last month, the power forward set a franchise record by scoring 64 points to lift the Bucks to a 140-126 win over the Indiana Pacers. Despite the loss to the Cavs, the Bucks remain second in the Eastern Conference on 28-13.

The Milwaukee Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo has agreed to a $186 million, three-year extension with the team, his agent, Alex Saratsis, confirmed late on Monday. The deal comes with an option for the 2027-28 NBA season. This will see the two-time NBA Most Valuable Player remain with the Bucks through the contract of guard Damian Lillard while preventing him from entering free agency in 2025.

The Bucks’ general manager Jon Horst traveled to Chicago on Sunday to meet with Saratsis so that the pair could work on a deal that would maximize Antetokounmpo’s earnings throughout the next three years. Because of the Over 38 rule in the CBA, the player will be able to sign another short-term deal with the Bucks in 2026 and another four-year extension in 2028.

Having been drafted out of Greece in 2013 by the Bucks, Antetokounmpo is doubling down on his loyalty to the franchise. With the 2021 NBA Championship and two league MVPs under his belt, the Greek national is on his way to becoming one of the greatest NBA players of all time.

The Milwaukee Bucks superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo is diversifying its investment portfolio by following the example of several other NBA stars and buying a stake in an MLS club. Antetokounmpo recently became a minority owner in Nashville SC.

Antetokounmpo is part of the group of new investors in the MLS side that also includes his brothers and fellow basketball players Thanasis, Kostas, and Alex, as well as Nashville Predators’ alternate captain Filip Forsberg. Nashville SC confirmed the arrival of new minority owners on Thursday but didn’t share the financial terms of the agreement.

“My father was a professional soccer player, and it was the first sport I fell in love with in Greece,” said Antetokounmpo in a statement. “I’ve always had the dream of owning a soccer team. When my brothers and I explored Nashville SC, we knew it was a team and a city that we wanted to get involved with. I couldn’t be more excited to join the Boys in Gold, and can’t wait to come to a match at GEODIS Park soon!”

Antetokounmpo is the third NBA MVP to have a stake in an MLS franchise. Previously, the Philadelphia 76ers’ James Harden bought a stake in Houston Dynamo, while the Phoenix Suns’ Kevin Durant owns 5% of Philadelphia Union.

Nashville SC debuted in MLS as an expansion franchise in 2020. The team made the playoffs in each of its three seasons in the league, reaching the quarter-finals twice. Their best regular-season finish was third place in the Eastern Conference standings during the 2021 season.

The Milwaukee Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo sprained his right wrist during the second quarter of his team’s 112-100 victory over the Chicago Bulls on Thursday night. He injured his wrist when running into the stanchion when attempting to block a shot from Bulls guard Coby White. He subsequently left the game and did not return.

Bucks coach Mike Budenholzer revealed that Antetokounmpo underwent an X-ray, the results of which came back negative. While the initial reports of the injury were minor, Budenholzer did warn that Antetokounmpo’s recovery timetable was yet to be determined. This leaves his status for the upcoming All-Star game uncertain. “We’ll just see how he feels tomorrow, see how he feels the next few days and continue to evaluate it,” Budenholzer commented.

In addition to being selected as team captain and a start for Sunday’s All-Star game, the Bucks’ superstar is also set to coach the celebrity all-star game with his brothers on Friday. He is also scheduled to perform in the skills competition during the All-Star Saturday night.

Despite his injury, Antetokounmpo became the first-ever player in NBA history to average 30 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists on 50% shooting upon reaching the All-Star break.

LeBron James and Giannis Antetokounmpo have been named as the captains of the teams set to take part in the NBA All-Star game in Salt Lake City next month.

This is the sixth time that James will be an All-Star captain, having taken on the role every year since the NBA adopted the format whereby the two All-Star captains draft their individual teams. James has appeared in 19 NBA All-Star games in total.

Antetokounmpo will be an All-Star captain for a third outing, having previously served in this role in 2019 and 2020. The Milwaukee Bucks star will also be participating in the seventh-consecutive All-Star game of his career.

Starting alongside James in the Western Conference team will be Dallas Mavericks guard Luka Doncic, Denver Nuggets center Nikola Jokic, New Orleans Pelicans forward Zion Williamson, and Golden State Warriors guard Stephen Curry.

The Eastern Conference lineup will be comprised of Brooklyn Nets forward Kevin Durant and teammate Kyrie Irving, Boston Celtics forward Jayson Tatum, and Cleveland Cavaliers guard Donovan Mitchell.

Players were selected through a weighted voting process, whereby 50% of the weighting was given to fans, 25% to players, and another 25% to the media panel.

The Milwaukee Bucks fans probably hope that their superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo will remain with the franchise until the end of his basketball career. But that might not be certain as they think.

During a recent chat with Fox 32 Chicago, Antetokounmpo was asked whether he would like to play for the Chicago Bulls at some point in the future. The 27-year-old superstar first made it clear that he’s committed to his Bucks but then added that he wouldn’t mind coming to the Windy City later in his career.

“I think anybody you ask that question that plays basketball if he said no, he’d be a liar,” Antetokounmpo said. “It’s a team that won multiple championships; it’s a team that one of the greatest players, if not the greatest player to ever play this game, played for. So it’s a no-brainer; everybody would love to play for Chicago.”

“Down the line, you never know. You never know how life brings it, maybe I play for Chicago,” he added.

Even if this happens to be the case, it sure won’t be soon. He still has four years remaining on his contract with Milwaukee, and there is doubt the franchise will add more to his deal as soon as it can. So yes, the Bulls fans can hope, but they also need to know that this scenario is quite far-fetched.

The reigning NBA champions Milwaukee Bucks have punched their ticket for the second round of the 2022 NBA playoffs after beating the Chicago Bulls 116-100 on Wednesday night and closing out their series in five games. The Golden State Warriors also took care of the business on the same night, handing a gentlemen’s sweep to Denver Nuggets with a 102-98 win.

The Bucks never looked in danger against the Bulls despite playing without their All-Star Khris Middleton for the third-straight game. Carried by superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo, Milwaukee raced to a 34-18 lead in the first quarter, and it was smooth sailing from then on.

Antetokounmpo finished the contest with 33 points and nine boards while spending only 30 minutes on the floor. Backup guard Pat Connaughton added 20 points from the bench while Bobby Portis owned the glass with 17 rebounds.

Milwaukee will now face the second-seeded Boston Celtics in the Eastern Conference semis. The first game is scheduled for May 1.

The Warriors’ win over the Nuggets and reigning MVP Nikola Jokic came down to the wire. Denver took ownership of the game in the third quarter, securing an eight-point lead and hinting at a possible twist in the series. However, Golden State embarked on a 16-6 run early in the fourth to get back in the driver’s seat.

Jokic tried to will the Nuggets back into the game at that point with a series of baskets, but the Warriors always found a way to respond. Superstar guard Stephen Curry was especially clutch for Golden State, scoring nine points in the final two minutes to ice the game and send his team to the second round.

Curry, who was on a minute restriction to start the series due to a foot injury, scored 30 points to go with five rebounds and five assists. Golden State had four other players in double digits, but neither scored more than 15.

The Warriors now wait for the winner of the series between the Memphis Grizzlies and the Minnesota Timberwolves to learn their second-round opponent.

NBA superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo has decided to strengthen his ties with Milwaukee even further by becoming the new part-owner of the city’s MLB franchise, the Brewers. The move, which was unveiled on Friday, comes less than a month after Antetokounmpo led the Bucks to an NBA title.

Antetokounmpo will join the ownership group headlined by businessmen Mark Attanasio. He is also its first new individual member since Attanasio became the Brewers’ principal owner in 2005.

“The city of Milwaukee means so much to me,” said Antetokounmpo in a statement. “I am honored to be joining the Brewers ownership group to further my commitment and dedication to this great community. I take great pride in my city, and I’m excited about what we can build together.”

Giannis Antetokounmpo isn’t the only big star athlete from the area to invest in the local team. Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers and reigning NFL MVP has been a part-owner of Antetokounmpo’s Milwaukee Bucks since 2018.

Antetokounmpo previously decided to stay in Milwaukee for the foreseeable future by agreeing on a new deal with the Bucks. He inked a five-year, $228 million supermax extension that will keep him with the team at least through the 2025-26 NBA season.

Becoming part of the Brewers ownership might be a way for Antetokounmpo to be even more connected with Milwaukee, but it should also prove to be a good business decision. The Brewers are on an upward trajectory, making the playoffs in each of the past three years and reaching National League Championship Series in 2018. The team is also having a great 2021 season, sitting at the top of the NL East with a 65-56 record.

50 years after winning their first NBA title, the Milwaukee Bucks are NBA Champions once again. The Bucks secured the Larry O’Brien trophy on Tuesday night with a memorable 105-98 Game 6 win over the Phoenix Suns.

Milwaukee’s journey to the NBA title wasn’t an easy one. They had to overcome a 0-2 deficit against the Brooklyn Nets in the East semis even to get a chance to play in the NBA Finals. Then, they found themselves in the same situation versus the Suns. At that point, Phoenix was an overwhelming favorite to win it all, but the Bucks were not willing to give up.

The Bucks tightened their defense, made the necessary adjustments, and banged out two wins at their home arena to even the series. This momentum carried Milwaukee to a Game 5 win in Phoenix and allowed them to get the job done in front of their fans.

The Milwaukee Bucks became the fifth team in NBA history to erase a 0-2 deficit and win the title.

The Bucks closed out the series thanks to an epic performance by their superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo, who dropped 50 points and 14 boards en route to winning the NBA Finals MVP award. All-Star Kris Middleton added 17 points, five rebounds, and five assists, while forward Bobby Portis had a strong contribution from the bench with 16 points.

“For the city, I’m sure it means everything,” said Middleton. “They’ve seen the work that we put in over the years for them to get to this point.”

All-Star point guard Chris Paul had 26 points for the Phoenix Suns but didn’t get much help from his teammates. Devin Booker turned the ball over six times and managed 19 points, well below his average in the series, while DeAndre Ayton finished the contest with 12 points and just six boards.

The Milwaukee Bucks breathed a sigh of relief on Tuesday after finally agreeing to a five-year, $228 million supermax contract extension with star player Giannis Antetokounmpo.

The “Greek Freak” was under contract for the 2020-21 season with the Bucks, but would have become an unrestricted free agent next offseason had he not signed an extension with Milwaukee this year.

The Bucks were able to get the job done and keep one of the most exciting and talented players in the league on their roster for the upcoming future, no small feat for a small market team.

Antetokounmpo’s new contract, which makes him the highest-paid player in the league, will keep the 26-year-old forward in Milwaukee through the end of the 2025-26 season.

The deal is a coup for the Bucks, who ensure that they will have a star to lead their team, and a perennial MVP caliber player that they hope will bring them the franchise’s second-ever title.

Antetokounmpo averaged 29.5 points, 13.6 rebounds, and 5.6 assists per game last season.

The two-time reigning MVP is now set to begin the upcoming season with his future settled and his focus back on helping getting the Bucks to once again be one of the league’s best teams and a legitimate title contender.
