Liverpool doesn’t expect forward Diogo Jota to return to action anytime soon after he suffered a significant knee injury in a 1-4 win over Brentford this past weekend.

Speaking with reporters on Tuesday, Liverpool’s head coach, Jurgen Klopp, said Jota will likely miss at least a few months recovering.

“With Diogo, it will obviously take rather months,” Klopp said. “I couldn’t give you a timeframe even if I wanted to, so that’s just how it is. When you don’t have these players available, it makes no sense as well to say, ‘OK, they will not be in before…’”

Jota got hurt in the first half of the Brentford game after a duel with Brentford’s defensive midfielder Christian Norgaard. At one point, Jota fell on the ground, and Norgaard ended up landing on his knee. Following the incident, Jota had a hard time getting up and was forced to be taken off the field on a stretcher.

Diogo Jota’s injury represents a tough blow for Liverpool as they battle to hold the top spot in the Premier League. Jota has been playing in great form this season, scoring 14 goals and adding four assists in all competitions.

Liverpool is also dealing with the absence of several other key players. Star forward Mohamed Salah is dealing with a hamstring injury while starting goalkeeper Alisson Becker is out with a muscle injury. Additionally, right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold is expected to miss some time after aggravating a knee injury.

Liverpool midfielder Diogo Jota won the first two vs. two FIFA 22 Challenge tournament, defeating Barcelona playmaker Pedri in the final. The tournament saw professional soccer players being paired up with professional gamers in order to be the best of eight teams.

Jota and his teammate Tekkz, from esports team Fnatic, defeated Pedri and DUX Gaming’s Gravesen 3-1 in the final. Other professional footballers who entered into the tournament include Chelsea players Timo Werner and Callum Hudson-Odoi, Juventus’ Weston McKennie, Man City’s Ferran Torres, Paris Saint-Germain’s Layvin Kurzawa, and Wycombe Wanderers’ Adebayo Akinfenwa.

Prior to defeating Pedri and Gravesen in the final, Jota and Tekkz had to emerge victorious from their group of four teams. Their opponents included Akinfenwa and Tom from Excel Esports, Kurzawa and Levi from Team Gullit, and Werner and SaNkHs from CASE Esports.

Pedri and Gravesen, on the other hand, overcame Hudson-Odoi and Lisa from JLingz esports, McKennie and RocKy from Team Vitality, and Torres and Matias from Team Heretics.

An avid FIFA gamer, this is not Jota’s first major achievement while playing FIFA on the Playstation platform. Earlier this year, the Liverpool and Portugal player achieved the number one rank on the PlayStation FIFA Ultimate Team Champions leaderboard after maintaining a 30-0 record over a single weekend.
