Liverpool midfielder Diogo Jota won the first two vs. two FIFA 22 Challenge tournament, defeating Barcelona playmaker Pedri in the final. The tournament saw professional soccer players being paired up with professional gamers in order to be the best of eight teams.

Jota and his teammate Tekkz, from esports team Fnatic, defeated Pedri and DUX Gaming’s Gravesen 3-1 in the final. Other professional footballers who entered into the tournament include Chelsea players Timo Werner and Callum Hudson-Odoi, Juventus’ Weston McKennie, Man City’s Ferran Torres, Paris Saint-Germain’s Layvin Kurzawa, and Wycombe Wanderers’ Adebayo Akinfenwa.

Prior to defeating Pedri and Gravesen in the final, Jota and Tekkz had to emerge victorious from their group of four teams. Their opponents included Akinfenwa and Tom from Excel Esports, Kurzawa and Levi from Team Gullit, and Werner and SaNkHs from CASE Esports.

Pedri and Gravesen, on the other hand, overcame Hudson-Odoi and Lisa from JLingz esports, McKennie and RocKy from Team Vitality, and Torres and Matias from Team Heretics.

An avid FIFA gamer, this is not Jota’s first major achievement while playing FIFA on the Playstation platform. Earlier this year, the Liverpool and Portugal player achieved the number one rank on the PlayStation FIFA Ultimate Team Champions leaderboard after maintaining a 30-0 record over a single weekend.
