The New Orleans Saints quarterback Derek Carr doesn’t have a serious injury as initially believed and might return to action earlier than expected. This was confirmed by Saints’ head coach, Dennis Allen, in a chat with reporters on Monday.

Carr got hurt in the third quarter of Sunday’s game against the Green Bay Packers after taking a hard sack from pass rusher Rashan Gary. He was slow to get up and seemed in a lot of pain as he made his way off the field. The 32-year-old player ended up being ruled out for the remainder of the game.

According to Allen, tests showed that Carr suffered a sprained AC joint in his right shoulder. The veteran signal-caller is considered “week to week” but could still end up playing in Week 4 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

“We’ll evaluate him as he goes throughout the week this week, we dodged a bullet there in terms of anything of real significance,” said Allen. “We’re saying week to week. But again, he felt better today than he did yesterday, so we’re not making any decisions today, we’re not ruling anything out.”

The Saints will be thrilled that Carr won’t miss much time, considering how good they looked with him on the field. Carr led the team to a 2-0 record and got them to a 17-0 lead against the Packers before exiting the game. New Orleans ended up suffering a 17-18 loss to Green Bay after failing to score a single point with backup Jameis Winston under the center.

After sitting out the game against the Baltimore Ravens due to transverse process fracture in his back, quarterback Derek Carr of the Oakland Raiders is ready to get back on the pitch. Without Carr, the Raiders suffered another defeat on last Sunday, now being on a 3 loss streak.

He’ll be ready to play,” – said Oakland Raiders coach Jack Del Rio to the media on Friday. “I think it was smart to give him the week (off), which we did. Even though he was pushing for last week. He’s cleared to go and got the green light. Doctors and trainers all gave him the go. He had a full week of practice, for the most part, so we’re ready to go.”

Derek Carr suffered the injury two weeks ago in the game against the Denver Broncos. He was sacked by DL Adam Gotsis in the third quarter of the game and grabbed his left lower back after getting on the ground. Carr left the game and didn’t return, while the tests showed transverse process fracture. The initial predictions were that Carr will be out for 2 to 6 weeks. This Carr’s rapid return must seem like a glimpse of hope for the Raiders’ fans that they can end this winless streak.

They may hope that Carr will have the same impact as Cowboys QB Tony Romo in 2014. In this year, Romo suffered 2 transverse processes in his back but returned after missing just one game. In his first two games after the injury, Romo combined for more than 500 yards and 7 touchdowns while he didn’t have a single interception. Both the Raiders and Carr would certainly take this kind of comeback.

In 4 games that he played in the 2017 NFL season, Carr attempted 109 passes and completed 74 for 753 yards and 7 touchdowns. The Oakland Raiders currently have 2-3 record.

Week 4 Game on Sunday versus the Denver Broncos didn’t turn out so good for Oakland Raiders. Not only they’ve lost the game 16-10, but their star quarterback Derek Carr got injured. Carr was sacked in the third quarter by Broncos defensive lineman Adam Gotsis and grabbed his left lower back while staying on the ground. Carr left the game and didn’t return. It was later revealed that Carr suffered transverse process fracture in his back. Initially, it was believed that Carr suffered from back spasms and that the injury isn’t long term. The tests on Monday, however, revealed the true nature of his injury. Raiders head coach Jack Del Rio said the injury could keep Carr off the field for 2 weeks, but the recovery may last longer and that Carr could be out for 6 weeks in the worst case scenario.

He said he’s sorry,” Del Rio said about Derek Carr. “Great kid. He’ll bounce back. I told him that the team will take care of business while he’s healing and just get healed up and when he can come back, he’ll come back.

Pain,” Carr said on Sunday, describing the moment when he was sacked. “My back didn’t feel too good.”

With Carr out, Raiders will now probably turn to EJ Manuel to fill Carr’s place. After being drafted in the first round of 2013 NFL Draft by the Buffalo Bills, he started 10 games in his rookie season. After not performing according to the expectations, Manual saw less playing time in the each of the following three seasons, with the Bills eventually letting him go after his contract expired following the end of 2016 season. In March 2017 Manuel signed with the Raiders as Carr’s backup. After Carr left the game against the Broncos, Manuel stepped in to finish the game and had 11 of 17 passes for 106 yards.
