After sitting out the game against the Baltimore Ravens due to transverse process fracture in his back, quarterback Derek Carr of the Oakland Raiders is ready to get back on the pitch. Without Carr, the Raiders suffered another defeat on last Sunday, now being on a 3 loss streak.

He’ll be ready to play,” – said Oakland Raiders coach Jack Del Rio to the media on Friday. “I think it was smart to give him the week (off), which we did. Even though he was pushing for last week. He’s cleared to go and got the green light. Doctors and trainers all gave him the go. He had a full week of practice, for the most part, so we’re ready to go.”

Derek Carr suffered the injury two weeks ago in the game against the Denver Broncos. He was sacked by DL Adam Gotsis in the third quarter of the game and grabbed his left lower back after getting on the ground. Carr left the game and didn’t return, while the tests showed transverse process fracture. The initial predictions were that Carr will be out for 2 to 6 weeks. This Carr’s rapid return must seem like a glimpse of hope for the Raiders’ fans that they can end this winless streak.

They may hope that Carr will have the same impact as Cowboys QB Tony Romo in 2014. In this year, Romo suffered 2 transverse processes in his back but returned after missing just one game. In his first two games after the injury, Romo combined for more than 500 yards and 7 touchdowns while he didn’t have a single interception. Both the Raiders and Carr would certainly take this kind of comeback.

In 4 games that he played in the 2017 NFL season, Carr attempted 109 passes and completed 74 for 753 yards and 7 touchdowns. The Oakland Raiders currently have 2-3 record.
