Cristiano Ronaldo is making a sensational return to Manchester United. The Premier League giants confirmed the move on their social media on Friday.

According to reports, Man Utd will pay Juventus close to $20 million transfer fee for Ronaldo. The agreement between the two sides includes $10 million in add-ons as well.

“Manchester United is delighted to confirm that the club has reached agreement with Juventus for the transfer of Cristiano Ronaldo, subject to agreement of personal terms, visa and medical,” said United in a statement.

Ronaldo reportedly didn’t take part in Friday’s training for Juventus ahead of the move. He just visited his teammates to say goodbye and later left Italy in a private jet.

Ronaldo was previously close to joining United’s crosstown rivals Man City, and even had discussions with the club’s manager Pep Guardiola. But the deal never got across the line as Man City was looking to get Ronaldo for free, considering that the move would save Juve more than $30 million in wages. Seria A club, on the other hand, wanted at least $25 million in order to sanction the transfer.

Ronaldo now returns to the club for which he played six seasons between 2003 and 2009. He won three Premier League trophies and Championship League in Manchester while also picking up a number of individual awards.

Real Madrid unveiled their latest squad addition on Friday, officially presenting forward Mariano Diaz who was brought in from Lyon earlier this week. This marks a return to Spain’s capital for the 25-year-old since he came through Real’s youth ranks before making a switch to France in 2017.

Upon his comeback to Real Madrid, Diaz was immediately given an enormous responsibility. He is the new owner of No.7 jersey, worn and made famous by Cristiano Ronaldo. The number became available after Ronaldo decided to leave Madrid earlier this summer in favor of a move to Seria A giants Juventus.

“Today is a very special day to return to my home. “Real Madrid would like to communicate that we have listened to the wish and request expressed by player Cristiano Ronaldo and have agreed to his transfer to Juventus FC,” – said Real Madrid in an official statement following the transfer.

Real Madrid did make a final push to convince Ronald to stay and offered him an improved contract, which would see the 33-year-old earning $64.5 million, compared to $45.2 million he was getting from his existing deal. The player still refused the offer in favor of moving to Italy.

“These years at Real Madrid and in this city of Madrid have quite possibly been the happiest years of my life,” – said Ronaldo in a statement. “I only have feelings of great gratitude to this club, to the fans and to the city.
