Chicago Bears coach Matt Eberflus revealed that wide receiver N’Keal Harry will be sidelined for an unspecified amount of time after undergoing surgery on his left ankle on Thursday. This comes after he was injured while training with the rest of the squad on Saturday. Harry reportedly got his ankle wrapped up underneath linebacker Nicholas Morrow while running through the first play of team drills that day. Unable to put weight on his ankle after the incident, he was helped off the field by trainers and teammates.

This injury puts a major strain on the Bears at this position as Harry joins fellow wide receivers Byron Pringle and Velus Jones Jr. on the team’s injury list. Pringle is out indefinitely after suffering a quad injury while rookie Jones Jr. is currently classified as day-to-day, having missed the last week of training camp.

On the flip side, linebacker Roquan Smith has been removed physically unable to perform list after undergoing a physical on Wednesday. Still, the player decided not to attend practice after being cleared to play.

“He was cleared by our medical staff as healthy. He did not practice. And the reason why for that is, you’ll have to ask him. We expect all of our healthy players to practice, and that was his decision. Like I said, you’ll have to ask him. I have not talked to him about it,” Eberflus stated during a press conference. Smith handed in a trade request earlier this week.

The Chicago Bears beat the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday night to extend their surprising start to 3-1. Unfortunately for them, however, they weren’t able to escape the game without losing a key player to injury.

Bears quarterback Mitchell Trubisky was forced out of the game during the game’s first drive in the first quarter. While attempting to avoid pressure, he was brought down and sacked by Minnesota defensive end Danielle Hunter and landed awkwardly on his left shoulder.

Trubisky left the game immediately and was replaced by Chase Daniels, who threw for 195 yards and a touchdown in Chicago’s 16-6 home win.

The team still hasn’t released any information about how long they expect Trubisky to be out nor what exactly his injury is, but this appears to be a problem that will hold him out for at least one game.

Team sources have stated that Trubisky is expected to miss Chicago’s weekend tilt with the Oakland Raiders in London, and it’s unknown when he’ll be able to return afterwards.

The third-year signal caller has been up and down for Chicago this year, completing 67 of 103 passes for 579 yards, 3 touchdowns, and 2 interceptions.

The Bears are expected to provide more information about their quarterback’s status as the week progresses.

Chicago Bears’ tight end Zach Miller is still recovering from gruesome and the possible career-threatening knee injury he suffered in October 2017 but didn’t lose the hope of playing in the NFL again. The 33-year-old told this to the reporters on Tuesday before Bears’ three-day mandatory minicamp while giving an update about his rehab process.

With my doctors and everyone I spoke to, we’re not going to put any set limitations on this,” – said Miller. “We’re just going to take it as it goes. There has not been a definitive, ‘you can never do this again.’ That hasn’t been talked about. It’s to approach this as you are planning to get back to where I can be myself and play football and then when that time comes, some of that is out of my hands. So, I’m just going to do as much as I can to get that point and see what happens.

He also added that his knee is feeling better and stronger with each day and that he will continue to be dedicated to the rehab process in order to achieve his final goal.

Zach Miller suffered the injury in Week 8 of 2017 season, against the New Orleans Saints, while trying to catch a touchdown pass. Further examinations showed that he dislocated his left knee and tore his popliteal artery, which meant his leg was in danger of having to be amputated. Luckily, the operation went well and the doctors managed to save his leg. Miller told reporters in January that he had eight additional surgeries.

Despite being unable to play in the upcoming 2018 NFL season, Miller received a contract extension from the Chicago Bears on Monday. He signed a one year deal, which will see him earning $458,000 guaranteed.

Chicago Bears tight end Zach Miller has undergone a surgery on Sunday in order to repair a torn popliteal artery in his left leg. Miller suffered an injury in Sunday’s game against the New Orleans Saints, after trying to catch a touchdown pass.

During our game at the New Orleans Saints yesterday, TE Zach Miller sustained a serious injury to his left knee and immediate evaluation from our medical team on site rushed him to nearby University Medical Center New Orleans (UMC) for urgent vascular surgery to repair a torn popliteal artery,” – said the Chicago Bears said in an official statement on Monday. “Successful surgery was performed immediately on Sunday by the UMC vascular surgeons to stabilize his injury. Zach remains at UMC, along with Bears medical personnel, where he will stay under further evaluation. We are thinking of Zach and his family and support from our entire organization goes out to them.”

Bears’ QB Mitchell Trubinsky threw a pass to Miller in the end zone, with Miller making a catch and then bending his leg awkwardly upon landing. After examining the play, officials ruled that he didn’t maintain possession and negated the potential touchdown.

Multiple reports said that Miller’s injury was very serious and that surgeons “had been working to save Miller’s leg.” Torn popliteal artery injuries can be career threatening and even require amputation in some of the cases.

I think that’s always a concern,” – said Bears’ coach John Fox when asked about amputation. “Our medical people did a great job as far as getting him there; they realized the problem immediately. Obviously, with any kind of vascular issue, you don’t want altitude you don’t want people flying around. He’ll have to remain still there for some time. He won’t be coming back to Chicago anytime real soon.
