Josh Allen overcame an injury scare to help the Buffalo Bills to a 24-18 win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Thursday night. Allen’s first injury concern came with 11:51 remaining in the second quarter when he was tackled to the ground by linebacker YaYa Diaby. He landed on his right throwing shoulder, yet was able to get back to his feet and shake off the discomfort.

“Took a little, little fall on it and felt a little funky about it, but you know, just trying to keep it warm and keep it loose,” Allen explained after the game. “I’ll be sore for a couple of days, but we’ll be fine.” While backup Kyle Allen was prepped to take his place, the first-choice quarterback was able to continue playing.

Allen’s health is of utmost importance to the Bills and the player has become less involved in rushing as a result. His shoulder was previously injured in the Bills’  14-9 win over the Giants in Week 6 after which he was listed on the injured report.

The Buffalo Bills cornerback Tre’Davious White is feared to have suffered a torn right Achilles during the third quarter of his team’s 48-20 win over the Miami Dolphins. This comes just a year after he tore his left ACL. Bills coach Sean McDermott revealed that the player is set to undergo an MRI scan on Monday.

“He’s been through a lot. And sometimes you wonder, right? Why things like that happen twice, you know, to someone,” McDermott commented after the win over the Dolphins.  “I’m not saying what it is, what it isn’t. I’m just saying like, you know, you just wonder why. Because you watch him and how hard he’s worked to get back. And yeah, you know, I just, I know he’s a man of faith. And I know how strong he is. And you know, he will, he will rebound.”

The Buffalo Bills held a ceremony on Monday in honor of the construction of its new stadium. This comes after years of negotiation in order to secure the approval of New York state and Erie County.

Set to be in use from the 2026 season onwards, the stadium is located on Abbot Road, across from the current Bills’ facility. The agreement for the new stadium includes a 30-year lease and a non-relocation agreement that makes it more challenging to uproot the team to another city.

“While Buffalo isn’t one of the larger NFL markets, the days of us operating as a small-market team are in the past,” chief operating officer Ron Raccuia declared at the ceremony. “On the field, we’ve become a national brand, gaining national attention and attracting national opportunities.”

Buffalo revealed that the new stadium is to be named the Highmark Stadium, thanks to a new naming rights agreement with Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield of Western New York.

Costing $1.54 billion to construct, the new stadium is expected to seat 63,000 spectators. In addition to stacked seating and a canopy overhang to protect from extreme weather conditions, the stadium is to incorporate a natural grass field as opposed to the artificial turf at the current stadium.

Buffalo Bills safety Damar Hamlin met with U.S. President Joe Biden on Thursday as part of his tour of Washington D.C. A statement from the White House confirmed that President Biden with Hamlin to thank him for his “courage, resilience, and can-do spirit” following his cardiac arrest on January 2 during a game against the Cincinnati Bengals as well as his work to promote new legislation to make life-saving technology more available.

“Damar Hamlin’s courage, resilience, and spirit inspired the American people. And what’s more: he turned recovery into action—and our country is better for it. It was my honor to have him and his family here today,” Biden wrote on Twitter. Hamlin also took to Twitter to thank the president for hosting him.

Since suffering cardiac arrest, Hamlin has been regularly consulting with specialists. After acknowledging that using an Automated External Defibrillator saved his life, Hamlin has dedicated himself to educating others about the importance of this device and other life-saving techniques including CPR.

Hamlin’s visit to the White House comes after he met with Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer and Rep. Sheila Cherfilus-McCormick to promote legislation that would increase the availability of AEDs and related training to school campuses.

The Buffalo Bills will need a new defensive coordinator for the 2023 NFL season. The team announced on Tuesday that their longtime DC, Leslie Frazier, decided to take a break from coaching.

According to the Bills’ announcement, Frazier will step away from the game for one year but intends to return to coaching in 2024. 

Since Fraizer got the defensive coordinator job in 2017, the Bills consistently ranked as one of the best defenses in the game. During his time at the helm, Buffalo allowed the least total yards per game (315) and passing yards per game (202) compared to the rest of the league, while 20 points per game allowed ranked third best in that time span.

 Leslie Frazier has an impressive coaching resume in the league, having held the defensive coordinator positions with the Cincinnati Bengals, Minnesota Vikings, and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers before landing with the Bills. Frazier was also the Vikings’ head coach from 2010 to 2013, compiling a 21-32-1 record and making the playoffs in 2012.

With Frazier out, the Bills are now expected to start an extensive search for his replacement. While head coach Sean McDermott is likely to talk with some outside candidates, most believe that he already has his new defensive coordinator in the building. The defensive line coach Eric Washington and new senior defensive assistant Al Holcomb are believed to be among the favorites for the position.

The Buffalo Bills safety Damar Hamlin has been discharged from Buffalo General Medical Center/Gates Vascular Institute, the team announced on Wednesday. This comes after the playing spent two weeks in hospital following a cardiac arrest.

Dr. Jamie Nadler, the chief quality officer at Kaleida Health which runs the Buffalo hospital, released the following announcement: “We have completed a series of tests and evaluations, and in consultation with the team physicians, we are confident that Damar can be safely discharged to continue his rehabilitation at home and with the Bills.”

Hamlin is now back at his home in Buffalo where he is being taken care of by his family. He underwent a series of cardiac, neurological, and vascular tests on Tuesday before the medical staff came to the decision to discharge him.

After collapsing during the first quarter of the Bills’ game against the Cincinnati Bengals last Monday night, Hamlin was transported by ambulance to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center, where he was treated for almost a week before his transfer to the Buffalo General Medical Center.

The Bills returned to action on Sunday, defeating the New England Patriots 35-23. With a seven-game win streak, the Bills have won the AFC East and are on course for the playoffs.

The Buffalo Bills safety Damar Hamlin has returned to Buffalo after being released from the University of Cincinnati Medical Center on Monday. This comes after the 24-year-old player was hospitalized for a week after suffering a cardiac arrest during the Bills’ game against the Cincinnati Bengals last Monday night.

“He is currently listed in stable condition and continues to make significant progress in his recovery,” the hospital confirmed in a public statement. According to the doctors at UC Health, Hamlin has several milestones on his journey to recovery and is now in the necessary state to be released from the hospital. Doctors revealed that Hamlin has been walking again while also participating in physical and occupational therapy and following a regular diet.

Following his return to Buffalo, Hamlin is set to undergo a series of tests to determine what caused his cardiac arrest as well as be treated for any pathology.

Upon his arrival in Buffalo, Hamlin was visited by Bills coach Sean McDermott and general manager Brandon Beane. Head athletic trainer Nate Breske also visited the player, along with assistant athletic trainer Tabani Richards, who remained with Hamlin throughout the past week.

The NFL announced late Thursday night that the suspended Week 17 game between the Buffalo Bills and the Cincinnati Bengals will not be resumed.

Monday night’s game was suspended with just six minutes left on the clock in the first period when Damar Hamlin collapsed after suffering a cardiac arrest. His heartbeat was restored on the field and he was then transported to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center where he has since been receiving care.

For the NFL, the decision to suspend the game made sense seeing as it would have no impact on who qualified for the playoffs. Furthermore, it would prevent the rescheduling of upcoming games.

The Bills announced in a statement early Tuesday morning that the 24-year-old player’s heartbeat had been restored and that he is currently in critical condition at a Cincinnati hospital.

Hamlin collapsed following his tackle of Bengals wide receiver Tee Higgins. He then received CPR as well as oxygen before being placed in an ambulance and transported to the nearby University of Cincinnati Medical Center 16 minutes following his collapse.

“Our thoughts are with Damar and the Buffalo Bills. We will provide more information as it becomes available,” the NFL announced in a statement after 10 PM ET on Monday night.
