Veteran forward Andre Iguodala has compiled a pretty impressive resume during his 19 years in the NBA that includes four NBA titles and NBA Finals MVP honors. Despite this, Iguodala remains realistic about his achievements and doesn’t believe he’s up there with the greatest that ever played the game.

During a recent appearance on The Old Man and the Three podcast, hosted by former NBA player JJ Reddick, Iguodala said that he doesn’t consider himself a Hall of Famer.

“I’m not a ring culture guy, but I’ve benefitted from that,” Iguodala said. “I know I have a lot of flaws. We were talking about I think there should be tiers of the Hall of Fame. I’m not a Hall of Famer if you ask me.”

Iguodala added that he considers himself a good basketball player but not as good to be in the same conversation with the likes of Kobe Bryant, LeBron James, and Michael Jordan.

Andre Iguodala started his career with the Philadelphia 76ers and had a short stint with the Denver Nuggets before joining the Golden State Warriors in 2013. While never putting up eye-catching numbers, Igoudala is credited for playing a significant role in the Warriors dynasty, which won four NBA championships between 2015 and 2022. He was a difference-maker with his defense while providing leadership on and off the court.

Iguodala was limited to only eight games last season, dealing with hip and wrist injuries. The 39-year-old previously said that the 2022-23 will be his last season as a pro but is yet to confirm his retirement.

Veteran forward Andre Iguodala rejoined the Golden State Warriors ahead of the 2021-22 NBA season for what many believe will be his final year in the league. But even if Iguodala ends up retiring next summer, he might still have a place on the team, albeit in a different role.

Speaking with reporters about Iguodala, the Warriors’ head coach Steve Kerr said that the veteran “can do whatever he wants” in retirement and will be good at it. He then jokingly bounced an intriguing idea.

“He’s taking over Mike Brown’s spot [head assistant ],” Kerr added jokingly. “Yeah, right next to me. I haven’t told Mike yet. I haven’t told Andre either.”

Despite saying it as a joke, it really wouldn’t be surprising if Kerr actually brings Iguodala to his coaching staff. It might not be as a head assistant at first, but the NBA Finals MVP from 2015 certainly has all the making of a successful coach at the highest level. He has been a silent leader in the Warriors locker room for years while never shying away from providing mentorship to younger players.

Iguodala spent the previous two years with the Miami Heat. After the Heat declined to pick up his team option for 2021-22, the 37-year-old signed a one-year deal with the Warriors in August. He played 23.5 minutes on average in the first two games of the season, averaging eight points, 3.5 rebounds, 2.5 assists, and one block per contest.

The 2019/20 NBA season is already halfway through, but Andre Iguodala is nowhere to be seen on the basketball courts. And it seems Iguodala would like to keep it that way if Memphis Grizzlies don’t trade him to a team he prefers.

According to The Athletic’s David Aldridge, Igoudala handed the Grizzlies a list of teams to which he would like to go. In case that Memphis goes against his wishes and trades him somewhere else, the 36-year-old veteran is ready to sit out the entire season.

After he was sent by Golden State Warriors to Memphis in the offseason, Andre Igoudala and Grizzlies agreed that the veteran would remain away from the team until the two sides come up with the best way to move forward. Grizzlies hoped that they would manage to get a team trade for him while Iguodala was looking towards contract buyout, which would enable him to get to freely pick a team he will play for.

However, Grizzlies still haven’t managed to get the offer they are moved by and they would like to get a first-round pick for the player. However, according to reports, the only solid proposal they received was from Dallas Mavericks, who offered Courtney Lee’s expiring deal and a second-rounder via Warriors. It’s unclear whether Iguodala would be willing to go to Mavs if Memphis accepts this deal.

The list of Iguodala’s suitors also includes Los Angeles Lakers, LA Clippers, and Houston Rockets. Out of these three teams, Clippers seem like the only team that has assets to pull off a trade.

One month in the new NBA season, Andre Iguodala is still a member of Memphis Grizzlies, even if that’s only on paper. And it looks like it will stay that way until someone gives up a first-round pick for him.

When Golden State Warriors dealt Iguodala to Grizzlies in a salary cut move, the majority of the league expected that the veteran forward will swiftly agree to a buyout and join a contender. That didn’t happen just yet, despite the two sides agreeing that the 35-year-old will remain away from the team until his status is resolved.

During his appearance on NBA Countdown, ESPN’s insider Adrian Wojnarowski said that Memphis won’t buy out Iguodala at all, and want interested parties like Los Angeles Lakers, LA Clippers and Houston Rockets to trade for him. The Grizzlies’ starting price is a first-rounder, and they are not willing to budge from that.

The big issue for most teams represents Andre Iguodala’s $17.2 million salary this season. Most championship contenders would have to give away the majority of their depth to facilitate this move, which doesn’t seem likely. Also, teams like Lakers and Clippers are lacking the draft assets to pull off such a move, which is why they were hopeful Iguodala will be available for free.

Iguodala averaged 5.7 points, 3.7 rebounds and 3.2 assists per game last season, but he showed up in playoffs where he put up 9.8 points per game.
