One of the most intriguing storylines during this NFL offseason is the future of the Green Bay Packers’ star quarterback Aaron Rodgers. The future Hall of Famer is reportedly considering various options in 2023, including staying with the Packers, playing for another team, or retiring from football altogether.

While Rodgers still hasn’t made the final decision or at least isn’t ready to share it, he admits that he intends to do it “soon enough”.

“It’s best for anybody who has an interest to make a decision sooner rather than later,” Rodgers said in a recent appearance on Aubrey Marcus Podcast.

“This is my life, it’s important to me, and I’ll make a decision soon enough, and then we’ll go down that road and be really excited about it,” he added.

As part of his decision-making process, the four-time NFL MVP recently spent several days at a “darkness retreat.” He said at the time that the experience would help him get a sense of what he wants from the future. Many believed he would share his decision as soon as he leaves the retreat, but that hasn’t happened yet.

Many analysts believe that Rodgers will end up staying with the Packers. There are plenty of reasons for this, including his familiarity with the organization, a projected improvement in the wideout position, and $60 million guaranteed in 2023.

In case Rodgers decides he wants a new challenge late in his career, the New York Jets and the Las Vegas Raiders are considered the favorites to land him.

The Green Bay Packers general manager Brian Gutekunst revealed on Monday that the team would like Aaron Rodgers to remain next season. Well, certainly that’s an offseason-type kind of decision, but surely, yeah,” Gutenkunst replied when asked by the press about Rodgers’ future at the team.

Rodgers is currently on a three-year, $150 million contract with the team that runs through the 2024 season. The deal includes a $58.3 million guaranteed bonus for the 2023 season which is only voided upon Rodgers’ retirement should it happen before the end of the 2023 season.

According to Gutenkunst, there is still no guarantee that the quarterback will remain with the Packers next year. He added that Rodgers has not yet expressed whether or not he would like to remain with the team. Ultimately, the pair will have to discuss Rodgers’ future during the offseason, Gutenhunst admitted.

Packers coach Matt LaFleur is adamant that he would like Rodgers to remain with the squad next season despite the 39-year-old player’s numerous injury woes over the past season. The veteran has played through a broken thumb as well as a rib injury this season.

At the end of the 2021 NFL season, it seemed like there was a good chance Aaron Rodgers would move on from the Green Bay Packers and suit up for another franchise. But that is now completely off the table according to the back-to-back NFL MVP.

Rodgers’ commitment to the Packers has been all over the place in the past year. He first asked to be traded before accepting to return last season. The 38-year-old player then mulled retirement after the campaign ended, only to circle back and ink a three-year, $150 million extension with the franchise.

The ups-and-downs of the relationship between Rodgers and Green Bay have now been put to rest as the veteran quarterback is now looking toward being Packer for life. He confirmed this while speaking with the media during the mandatory minicamp on Tuesday.

Rogers discussed his improved correspondence with the Packers’ front office and said that was one of the reasons why he now feels even more comfortable in Green Bay. This prompted one reporter to ask him whether he plans to retire in Green Bay.

“Yes, definitely,” Rodgers responded.

Speaking further on the subject of retirement, Aaron Rodgers said that he isn’t sure how long he is going to play. Despite having three years left on his deal, Rodgers explained that it isn’t guaranteed he’ll play for so long.

“We’ll sit down after the season, hopefully after a championship, and figure out what the next step is,” he said.

The uncertainty about his future didn’t affect Rodgers’ performances at all last season. He won his second straight MVP award after leading the Packers to a 13-3 record and throwing for 4,115 yards, 37 touchdowns, and only four interceptions. Green Bay finished as the top seed in NFC but was eliminated in the Divisional Round of playoffs.

Quarterback Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers have managed to settle their differences, at least for the time being. Rodgers, who submitted a trade request in the offseason, joined the team for a training camp earlier this week and is expected to play for the organization in the 2021 NFL season.

According to multiple reports, Rodgers only decided to rejoin the team after the Packers offered him several concessions. This included voiding the final year of his contract and pleading to revisit his situation after the season ends.

Rodgers finished the 2020 NFL season winning the NFL MVP Award and leading the Packers to the NFC Championship Game for the second year in a row. But shortly after the season ended, the 37-year-old superstar made a shocking trade request. He was reportedly unhappy with some of the decision making including Green Bay trading up to draft QB Jordan Love in the first round.

But despite Rodger’s unhappiness, the Packers remained firm in their decision to keep their star QB. They rejected multiple trade proposals for Rodgers, and general manager Brian Gutekunst and president Mark Murphy instead made efforts to repair the broken relationship.

One of the attempts included offering Rodgers a new contract that would make him the highest-paid player in football. However, Rodgers rejected the proposal and was reportedly willing to sit out the year if he wasn’t moved. He also opted to skip all the team’s offseason activities.

Finally, the two sides made progress late last week when Packers offered Rodgers various concessions in order to lure him back. The agreement between the two sides is that they will ride out this year together and then decide on the future once the 2021 season wraps up.

It appears that Aaron Rodgers hasn’t changed his mind about wanting out of Green Bay. According to multiple reports, Rodgers was not present at the start of the Packers’ recent organized team activities.

Rodgers, who asked Packers to trade him earlier in the year, also missed the Packers’ previous offseason activities. The 37-year-old veteran won’t receive a fine for his absence as the OTAs are voluntary, but he will miss out on a $500k offseason workout bonus.

It is important to note that missing out on OTAs is something new for Rodgers, as he was a regular participant in the past seasons.

The first mandatory appearance that Aaron Rodgers has to make at the Packers’ facilities is a mandatory minicamp that takes place from June 8th to June 10th. In case Rodgers skips that one, too, he will be issued a fine of around $100k. The fines increase to $50k per day if he holds out during training camp.

Despite winning the 2020 NFL MVP Award and leading Green Bay to the NFC Championship finals, Rodgers is reportedly disgruntled with the Packers’ front office and is determined to force a trade. There are several things that caused the rift between the Packers and their star QB, including Green Bay’s decision to use their first-round pick in 2019 on Rodgers’ successor.

Rodgers already handed the Packers list of teams that he wants to join. It includes the San Francisco 49ers, Las Vegas Raiders, and Denver Broncos.

Green Bay, on the other hand, still refuses to engage in any serious talks about Rodgers. Both team president Mark Murphy and general manager Brian Gutekunst said in recent media appearances that the organization has no intention of trading their best player.

Legendary quarterback Brett Favre didn’t get to finish his football career with the Green Bay Packers, playing for two more franchises before hanging up his cleats. Now he believes that his successor at Green Bay, Aaron Rodgers, will follow the same path.

In the recent 2020 NFL Draft, Packers drafted Utah’s QB Jordan Love and sparked rumors that he will replace Rodgers at some point in the future. This will, according to Favre, make Rodgers join another NFL team.

“I think he’ll play somewhere else,” said Favre during his appearance on NBC’s Rich Eisen Show.

Favre added that his “gut” tells him that Rodgers won’t retire as a Packer just as he didn’t get to do the same despite winning a Super Bowl ring and three MVP trophies in Green Bay.

“My gut tells me no,” said Favre when asked whether Rodgers will end his career with Packers. “I don’t know this for certain, but I guarantee you, it’s got the wheels turning in Aaron’s mind. If that’s the case, then that means there’s a chip on his shoulder toward the organization that otherwise was not there. All he needs is a reason other than this reason to expedite that.”

Green Bay Packers surprised the NFL world when they moved up in the first round to take Love, despite badly needing to strengthen the wide receiver position. Many believe that this will be a reason for the divorce between Packers and Aaron Rodgers, considering the Pro Bowl quarterback has had little to work with in recent years.

Still, it appears that the two sides will have to find a way to coexist at least for two more years. Rodgers is almost untradeable until 2021, as he still has four years remaining on his $134 million contract. After that, his cap numbers become more manageable, and he might be on the move while Packers enter the new era with Jordan Love as their signal-caller.

There is a “bad, bad man” in Green Bay and he is there to stay. Green Bay Packers’ quarterback Aaron Rodgers just signed a four-year, $134 million, contract extension with the team. This extension will bring Rodgers an average yearly salary of $33.5 million, making him the highest paid player in NFL history.

The deal was confirmed by Packers’ general manager Brian Gutekunst on Wednesday.

It was really important for the organization,” – said Gutekunst about signing Rodgers to a long-term extension. “We go as he goes in some ways. Obviously, this is the ultimate team game, but he’s been such an important part of what’s gone on around here for a long time. It’s the most important position in our game, and to have the best that’s doing it at the helm, it makes things move forward that much faster.

The details of this record-breaking deal are not known in full, but according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the overall value could rise to $180 million with incentives. The extension also includes $103 million total in guarantees, another league record. Finally, Aaron Rodgers is set to receive half of the overall value, $67 million, by the end of 2018.

They’re putting a lot of faith and trust in my continued play, and I have to in turn put trust in the team they will continue to do everything possible to promote the same type of culture we’ve had here – a winning environment, giving the players and coaches the tools necessary to achieve those goals,” – said Rodgers after signing the extension. “I think it just gives me even more clout and respect in the locker room with the guys knowing I’m committed and the team is committed to me for a number of years now.”

Rodgers also went on Instagram and thanked Packers’ front office, fans and his teammates for their support saying that he looks “forward to making some more memorable moments this year, and for years to come.”

While $134 million for four years may seem like a crazy amount, Aaron Rodgers is probably worth every penny. In 11 seasons as a starter, he passed for 38,502 yards and 313 touchdowns and currently ranks as No. 1 all-time in career passing rating (103.8), interception percentage (1.59) and touchdown-to-interception ratio (4.01).

The Philadelphia 76ers aren’t the only one trusting the process. Green Bay Packers star quarterback Aaron Rodgers shares the same mindset when it comes to the moves his team is making.

There have been numerous reports that Rodgers is frustrated with the organization for lack of offseason moves, as well as the release of wide receiver Jordy Nelson and quarterbacks coach Alex Van Pelt. Even if that is the truth, Aaron Rodgers isn’t sharing that with the public. Speaking on Tuesday during the first day of the Packers’ offseason workouts, the 34-year-old was asked if he was frustrated about not having greater input on the recent moves the Packers made.

I know my role, and that’s to play quarterback the best that I can.” – said Rodgers. “The team is going to try to put the right guys in place — the right coaches in place, the right players in place. You just have to trust the process as we’ve talked about over the years. This process works, and it has worked for Mike [McCarthy] for a number of years. Obviously, that’s why he’s still here in his 13th season. We’ve had a lot of success here, and you’ve got to trust the process.

Sources around the league are reporting that Rodgers’ frustration is delaying his new contract with the Packers that seemed inevitable towards the end of 2017. He has two years left on his five-year, $110 million extension he signed in 2013 and which made him the highest paid NFL player at the time. Now he slipped to the ninth spot and will be looking to get back to the top with a new deal.

Like the last time, although it was large financial numbers, it was a deal that myself and the team was happy with,” – he said. “It gave us the ability to do some things and made my cap number never go above an unmanageable level. So, obviously, I want to finish my career here. I’ve said that a number of times and still have two years left on my deal, so we’ll see what happens this offseason.
