Daniil Medvedev secured his ticket to the 2021 Australian Open Final match on Friday morning with a dominant win over Stefanos Tsitsipas.

Medvedev overwhelmed the No. 5-seeded Tsitsipas and needed only three sets (6-4, 6-2, 7-5) to get the job done. He allowed only one break while serving 17 aces and accumulating 46 winners.

Tsitsipas tried to put up a resistance and came close in the third set, but his fatigue after an epic comeback against Rafael Nadal in the quarterfinals was evident.

“The moment that I won the match,” said Medvedev afterward, “one of my best shots in my career.”

The win over Tsitsipas now extends Daniil Medvedev’s undefeated streak to 20 matches. He is now headed to his second-career Grand Slam finals and first majors title.

To do this, Medvedev will have to get past Novak Djokovic, who easily handled Aslan Karatsev in the second semifinals matchup. Djokovic has eight Australian Open titles and has never lost a match in the tournament when reaching the semifinals. The No. 1-ranked Serbian is combined 17-0 in the Australian Open semifinals and finals.

In head-to-head matchups, Djokovic currently has a 4-3 lead against Medvedev. However, Medvedev has won three out of their last four meetings, so it should be exciting.
