Kristaps Prozingis isn’t likely to play for the Dallas Mavericks for the remaining part of this season as he recovers from an ACL injury he suffered in February 2018.

Prozingis, 23, signed for the Mavericks on Tuesday after informing the Knicks he didn’t want to be part of their rebuilding team in New York. He was traded to Dallas in a monster deal that saw Dennis Smith Jr., Deandre Jordan, Wesley Matthew and two future first-round picks leave Dallas.

While Mavericks’ owner Mark Cuban admitted the Latvian player won’t be playing in the next few months, Dallas is committed to signing him to a long-term deal. Porzingis allegedly adores Luka Doncic and Dirk Nowitzki is his idol, two players Cuban hope will motivate the 23-year-old to commit his future to the team.

Doncic is averaging 20.4 points, 6.9 rebounds and 5.4 assists despite being only 19 years of age. He’s also one of the best players in Dallas. Before his injury, Porzingis was also a rising star who averaged 22 points and made it to the All-Star game in just his third NBA season.

“We obviously think Porzingis is a great young talent, similar in many ways to Dirk,” Coach Rick Carlisle said of the Latvian upon his arrival in Dallas.

According to ESPN, Porzingis hasn’t yet decided whether he wants to commit his future to Dallas. If that’s the case, he’s allowed to sign a two year deal that will see him become a free agent in 2020.

Los Angeles Rams wide receiver is “100 percent” ready and is expected to play a big role when his team challenges the New England Patriots for Super Bowl LIII.

Speaking to reporters, Coach Sean McVay played down concerns that Gurley’s injury in regular season may have prevented him for the big game on Sunday.

“He’s feeling good,” the coach said. “A hundred percent.”

Gurley was left sidelined during the last two games of the regular season after he suffered an inflammation in his left knee. He came back in the game against the Dallas Cowboys and rushed for 115 yards and a touchdown.

During that game, however, the wide receiver played for only 32 snaps, leaving many to feel concerned for his injury. Speaking about Gurley’s limited time in that game, McVay said,

“He didn’t have that many touches, but he still played a good amount of snaps. We just weren’t able to run it as much as we’d like to, because New Orleans did a nice job stopping us.”

With Gurley fit, the Rams have an entirely ready squad for the Super Bowl. Kicker Greg Zuerlein was the only other player listed as limited besides Gurley but he’s already recovered and will be prepared for the game.

France and Manchester United forward Anthony Martial agreed to a five-year contract extension that will keep him at Old Trafford until 2024 Thursday afternoon.

“I am loving my time at this club,” – Martial said. “From the day I joined I have been made to feel part of the United family and I have been incredibly humbled and overwhelmed by the warmth and love of our fans, who continue to amaze me with their support.”

Paraguay and Atlanta United’s midfielder Miguel Almiron will be playing in the English Premier League after finalizing a move away from the MLS club for a club record fee on Wednesday.

The 24-year-old arrived at Newcastle on Wednesday to undergo a medical and finalize personal terms ahead of a permanent move estimated to be worth £20m. The amount will be the highest amount the premier league club has paid for a player since acquiring Michael Owen from Real Madrid for a fee of £16m in 2005.

“I knew before the game we were doing some business, so hopefully we have some good news,” club manager Rafael Benitez said after Newcastle beat Manchester City 2-1. Tuesday night.

“We are working on some things. If we have good news tomorrow it’s positive. It’s not about a record signing, you have to do the right things to stay up.”

Before the deal was finalized, there were reports the deal was off the table on Saturday. The player’s agent left England without a deal the same weekend and was shopping for a deal in Italy. On Tuesday, an agreement was reached and Almiron’s dreams of playing in the premier league were revived.

The Paraguay international scored 13 goals last season as Atlanta lifted the MLS title for the first time ever. He holds a record of 21 goals in 62 league appearances throughout his career, including while playing in his native country.

New England Patriots safety Devin McCourty will consider retiring from the NFL should his team win Sunday’s Super Bowl LIII against the Los Angeles Rams.

McCourty, 31, has spent his entire nine-year NFL career in New England, winning two rings and racking up 714 tackles, 80 passes and 21 intercepts alongside his twin brother Jason.

“I don’t know for sure, man, but I do look at retirement,” McCourty said. “If we can win this game, win it with my brother, I don’t know what else I could do that’ll top that. So I’m just trying to make sure I enjoy this season and enjoy these last couple days with these guys.”

While the safety back has racked up enough numbers to make it to three All-Pro teams and two Pro Bowl games, his’ brother hasn’t been that lucky. Most of Jason’s time in the NFL was spent with the Titans where he logged 505 tackles, 73 defense passes, 13 interceptions and six fumbles.

Jason spent eight seasons in Tennessee before a stint with Cleveland landed him a trade with the Patriots. Luckily, New England has been good to him, appearing in 16 games and tallying 70 tackles and 10 defense passes. On Sunday, the twins will play together for the ultimate prize, and there, Devin will make a clear decision about his future in the NFL.

New Orleans Pelicans star Anthony Davis on Monday informed the team through his agent Rich Paul that he does not intend to extend his contract and prefers a trade out.

So far, the Los Angeles is the most likely destination for Davis considering they’ve been aggressive about their desire to sign the player.

Davis’ agent also represents Lebron James, a player who already requested Anthony to join them in Los Angeles. Although he is currently battling a fracture in his left index finger, the 25-year-old is a phenomenal player in the New Orleans roster. He averages 29.3 points and 13.3 rebounds. World No.1 Novak Djokovic beat World No.2 Rafael Nadal in straight sets to clinch this year’s Australian Open title Sunday morning.

In a near one-sided match, Djokovic crushed the Spaniard 6-3, 6-2, 6-3 to win the Australian Open for a record seventh time and tally his total number of major titles to 15. With the win, Djokovic becomes the third all-time Grand Slam winner just behind Nadal (17) and Roger Federer (20).

“I’m trying to contemplate on the journey in the past 12 months. I had surgery exactly 12 months ago,” Djokovic said. “To be standing now here, in front of you today, managing to win this title and three of the four Slams is truly amazing.”

Djokovic has now won in the 13 of 16 times he’s played Nadal. For the Spaniard, this was the first time has lost in a Grand Slam final in straight sets. Despite the loss, Nadal was full of hope for a better year.

“Even though tonight was not my night, it was very important for me in coming back from injury,” he said. “I believe I played a good two weeks of tennis and it is a great energy and inspiration for what is coming. Ravens Coach John Harbaugh signed a four-year contract extension on Thursday, keeping him in Baltimore up until 2022.  

After leading Baltimore to a playoff berth in 2018, Harbaugh’s contract was coming to an end. However, the Ravens made it clear they would extend the 56-year-old’s pact long before he could worry about it. Nothing was worked out until Thursday, however, when the Ravens and the coach agreed on the four-year deal.

“We have reached a new four-year contract with Head Coach John Harbaugh,” the Ravens announced through their official twitter handle.

Harbaugh confirmed the news through a statement released by the team.

“I’m very excited with this contract, the opportunity to continue our work here, and I’m humbled by it,” the coach said. “I’m thankful for the support from the Ravens, especially Steve Bisciotti (the owner).

Details about the new agreement were never revealed but he was already one the highest paid coaches before the deal. His return into the NFL will be his twelfth with Baltimore. And considering Harbaugh just gave the Ravens their first AFC title since 2012 and their first playoff appearance in four years, it’s probably the beginning of good news for the team.

Harbaugh has been successful with the Ravens already. He won Super Bowl XLVII for the Ravens in 2012 and has taken them to the playoffs 11 times. If he coaches them until 2022, he will have been their coach for 15 years. The Ravens were formed 23 seasons ago.

On Wednesday evening, Indiana Pacers co-captain Victory suffered what appeared to be a serious right knee injury, drawing pitch silence from the crowd and sending doubt about the star’s future in the NBA.

Oladipo fell in an awkward manner four minutes before the end of the game against the Toronto Raptors. But unlike any other fall, the guard’s injury was so scary that everyone in the arena became silent. The 26-year-old was whisked away in a stretcher and taken to a local hospital.

ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski confirmed Thursday morning that the Pacers had ruled out any chances the guard will return for the second part of this season.

“Preliminary exam has left Pacers with fear that Victor Oladipo has suffered a season-ending knee injury that will require surgery,” the reporter tweeted.

Before the injury, Oladipo was the Pacer’s leading scorer with an average of 19.2 points per game, 5.7 rebounds and 5.3 assists per game. With such a record, his injury is a big blow to the Pacers, currently ranked third in the Eastern Conference.

While there were able to beat the Raptors 110-106, only time will tell how good Indiana will be without the guard. Fortunately, Indiana has already figured a way win games without their star player. They are 7-4 without Oladipo this season. By contrast, they were 0-7 when the player got injured last season.

She reached the quarters at the US Open in 2017 but she now has the chance to clinch a major title. The Czech native will face Japan’s Naomi Osaka who beat Karolina Pliskova in straight sets.
