France and Manchester United forward Anthony Martial agreed to a five-year contract extension that will keep him at Old Trafford until 2024 Thursday afternoon.

“I am loving my time at this club,” – Martial said. “From the day I joined I have been made to feel part of the United family and I have been incredibly humbled and overwhelmed by the warmth and love of our fans, who continue to amaze me with their support.”

Martial, 23, joined Manchester from Monaco in September 2015 in a deal worth £36 million. 104 appearances and 32 goals later, the youngster has been hunting for a contract extension in the premier league.

After Thursday’s agreement, Martial was quick to thank new interim boss Ole Gunnar for believing in his talent.

“I would like to thank Ole (the coach) and his coaching staff for their belief in me and for helping me to take my game to the next level. This club is all about winning trophies and I am sure the next piece of silverware is not that far away.”

Ole Gunnar, on the other hand, credited the French star for having “a good footballing brain.”

“For a young man, he has a good footballing brain, which, when coupled with his exceptional talent, makes for a player with an exciting future ahead of him.”
