Ever since legendary Real Madrid coach Zinedine Zidane returned to coach “Los Blancos” last March, there have been rumors that star forward Gareth Bale wanted out of the Spanish capital.

After benching Bale in Real Madrid’s preseason Champions Cup match against Bayern Munich, Zidane confirmed that the club is working to rid themselves of the Welshman.

Bale has been open about his desire to leave Real Madrid and play elsewhere over the past several months. His relationship with the French coach turned rocky near the end of 2017-18, and his lack of minutes upon Zidane’s return only soured the mood between the two.

Now, Zidane has confirmed that both the club and the player are actively working towards moving him out of Madrid, a move that he considers would be “best for everyone.”

Bale’s agent, Jonathan Barnett, was nonetheless unpleased with Zidane’s handling of the situation. He fired back, stating that “(He) is a disgrace – he shows no respect for a player that has done so much for Real Madrid.”

Bale scored 78 goals in 155 appearances with Real Madrid over seven seasons that were equal parts brilliance, frustration, and drama.

Now, it appears that his turbulent time at Real Madrid is finally coming to a close.
