The New York Yankees will be without their star slugger Aaron Judge longer than they anticipated. According to Yankees manager Aaron Bone, Judge is dealing with a torn ligament in his toe, and there is no timetable for his return.

Boone added that he expects Judge to play again in 2023 but that there are no guarantees this will happen.

“The reality is, we’re without him right now, and we’ve got to find a way to get it done,” Boone said on Saturday.

Aaron Judge injured his toe in early June after crashing into a fence while making a catch in a game against the Los Angeles Dodgers. The Yankees ended up placing him on an Injured List, saying he was dealing with sprained ligaments.

Judge also spoke with reporters on Saturday and confirmed the nature of his injury. He also said that he is experiencing pain while walking.

“I’ve got to knock out the rehab stuff,” Judge said. “I’ve had different injuries over the years where it’s going to take a while. It’s not going to be perfect here in a couple of weeks. Once we can manage the pain, we’re going to be in a good spot.”

Back in December, the Yankees signed Aaron Judge to a nine-year, $360 million deal, making him the highest-paid position player in the history of MLB. Judge was batting .291 with 19 homers and 40 RBIs before the injury.
