The New York Yankees’ righty Domingo German is now part of one of the most exclusive clubs in baseball. Starting in an 11-0 win over the Athletics on Wednesday night, German became just the 24th player in MLB history to pitch a perfect game.

German delivered 99 pitches, with a mix of curveballs and fastballs, striking out nine while not allowing a single hit or a walk.

German is now the fourth Yankee to pitch a perfect game, joining a list that includes Don Larsen, David Wells, and David Cone. He is also the first player in MLB to achieve the feat since Felix Hernandez did it for the Seattle Mariners back in 2012.

“So exciting. When you think about something very unique in baseball, you know not many people have an opportunity to pitch a perfect game,” German said after the game through an interpreter. “To accomplish something like this in my career, you know, it’s something that I am going to remember forever, be part of history, so exciting.”

Domingo German’s perfect outing comes after a rough start of the season in which the 30-year-old player struggled with suspensions and inconsistency. German midway through his start against Toronto Blue Jays in May after the umpires determined he used some kind of sticky substance. He was eventually suspended for 10 games.
