After asking and being granted a release from Tennessee Titans a few weeks ago, veteran wide receiver Rishard Matthews still hasn’t found a new job. This, however, could change in the next couple of days.

According to reports, Matthews is on the radar of several teams who lack depth on the WR position and already has workouts scheduled with Cleveland Browns and Arizona Cardinals. The 28-year-old will work out with Browns on Monday and Cardinals on Tuesday.

After a couple of productive seasons with the Titans, Rishard Matthews found himself on the bottom of the depth chart at the start of 2018 season. Matthews was only targeted six times, making three catches for 11 yards in the first three games, and decided to ask the team to release him in late September so he could find playing time elsewhere.

Failing to sign Dez Bryant and having traded Josh Gordon to the New England Patriots, Browns have been using Jarvis Landry, Antonio Callaway, and Rashard Higgins almost exclusively, so a fourth reliable option would be welcomed. On the other side, although Cardinals have Larry Fitzgerald, Chad Williams, and Christian Kirk locked in as their primary receivers, they would like to increase their depth given the fact that their fourth option J.J. Nelson is playing below standards this year.

Rishard Matthews entered the league in 2012, being selected by the Miami Dolphins in the seventh round of that year’s draft. He spent four years in Miami before deciding to sign with Tennessee Titans in 2016.

Matthews played 82 games during his NFL career and had 228 receptions for 3,147 yards and 21 touchdowns.

Gunner's favorite movies are Pulp Fiction, Iron Man (just the first one), and every James Bond film ever made. He's learning TV and cinema and hoping to always enjoy movies as he does now.
