Wizards’ John Wall Says He’s “Healthy” After Not Playing Since 2018

Washington Wizards’ guard John Wall hasn’t played basketball since late 2018, but it appears that his return to court is getting near. Wall recently told the media that he feels healthy after previously undergoing two surgeries and is “itching” to play basketball again.

Wall initially had a surgery to address bone spurs in his left heel in December 2018, which ruled him out for the remainder of the 2018/19 season. Just as he was getting closer to recovering, the five-time All-Star tore his Achilles and had to undergo another surgery which meant he was set to miss the entire 2019/20.

However, according to Wall, the injury issues are now behind him.

“I’m 110%, I’m healthy,” Wall told reporters during a video call on Tuesday while adding that he is trying to get “in the best shape possible,” and he’s “itching to get back out there.”

Despite the fact that John Wall is feeling impatient about returning to basketball, there is little chance of him playing in 2019/20. Both Wall and the Wizards’ organization said on multiple occasions that they won’t take any risks and that he won’t return even if the current season resumes at a later point than expected.

Without Wall on the court, shooting guard Bradley Beal took over as Wizard’s leader and has excelled in the role averaging NBA’s second-best average of 30.5 points per game. Still, Beal’s excellence wasn’t enough for Washington to play a meaningful role in the East, as they are currently 24-40 and 5.5 games behind the playoff spot.

Gunner's favorite movies are Pulp Fiction, Iron Man (just the first one), and every James Bond film ever made. He's learning TV and cinema and hoping to always enjoy movies as he does now.
