Although Canadian winger Robby Fabbri has been with the Detroit Red Wings for less than one season, he hopes to have a long future with them.

Fabbri came to Detroit in November from the St. Louis Blues and he’ll be a restricted free agent in the offseason and he hasn’t started contract negotiations with the Red Wings. If he gets a good offer, Fabbri is prepared to accept it.

“Everything has been great since the first day I came to Detroit,” the 24-year-old player told The Detroit News on Wednesday. “It’s a great organization, great group of guys, a great opportunity here, so it’s definitely a place I want to be and play for as long as I can… I was able to rejuvenate my career and they gave me a chance. I couldn’t be happier.”

Fabbri finally managed to get his career back on track since arriving in Detroit; he suffered several injury-riddled seasons with the Blues. While with the Red Wings from 2019/2020 he played 52 games and scored 14 goals and 17 assists which makes this season his best since 2015/2016.

“I was able to rejuvenate my career and they gave me a chance. I couldn’t be happier,” he added.

Unfortunately, Fabbri won’t be able to add to his resume in 2019/2020 because the Red Wings have a 17-49-5 record and didn’t qualify for the Stanley Cup playoffs. The NHL has decided to resume its activities by ending the regular season and going straight to the postseason with 22 teams and an in-play tournament.

Back in 2014, Fabbri was a first-round pick and he has played in 216 NHL games, scoring 46 goals and 58 assists. He won a Stanley Cup with the Blues last season.
