Alex Ovechkin is argueably the greatest player in the history of the Washington Capitals franchise, but he doesn’t want to finish his hockey career in the U.S. capital.

Of course, he’d like to finish his NHL career in Washington, but he’d like to play in his native Russia again before he hangs up his skates for good.

In a recent interview with a Russian television network, Ovechkin said that he would like to end his career playing for Dynamo Moscow. Of course, he isn’t done with the NHL just yet.

Ovechkin also said that he would like to play for the Capitals for another three, four, or five years if possible. He started his professional career with Dynamo Moscow, where he played for four seasons. He also played for them during the 2012-2013 NHL lockout and has recently been spending most of his time in Russia during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Ovechkin has had a storied career in the NHL and is a no-brainer Hall of Famer and one of the greatest hockey players in the history of the sport.

He has won just about every individual award you could possibly win in the league and sealed his legendary status with a Stanley Cup victory with the Capitals in 2018.
