The Golden State Warriors are playing great basketball to start the 2021-22 NBA season, picking up five wins in their first six games. And they might get even better considering their talented center James Wiseman is inching closer to being back on the floor.

The team announced on Monday that Wiseman had been cleared to participate in full-team practices once again, which is a major step in his return to action. The 2020 second overall pick has been sidelined since April after undergoing surgery to repair the damage on the thorn right meniscus.

However, the timetable for his season debut is still undetermined, according to Golden State.

Speaking with reporters on Monday, the Warriors’ head coach Steve Kerr said that he is pleased with Wiseman’s progress but preached a cautious approach as he returns from injury.

“I think it’s just been a gradual improvement over time,” Kerr said.

Wiseman, on the other hand, would like to continue his rehab in the G League as he believes the game action will help him “get sharp physically, mentally.”

“I’m getting there,” he added. “So whatever happens within that time, I’m down for whatever.”

Wiseman played 39 games in his rookie season in NBA and averaged 11.5 points and 5.8 rebounds per game.
