Golden State Warriors shooting guard Donte DiVincenzo will not be activating his $4.7 million player option in his current contract, sources revealed on Tuesday. This means that the 26-year-old will be entering free agency once his contract lapses.

This decision comes as little surprise to the Warriors’ team, with both the franchise and other front-office executives across the league expressing feelings that DiVincenzo has outplayed his contract since arriving in San Francisco from the Sacramento Kings prior to last season.

Since joining the Warriors, DiVincenzo has managed to return to form following an ankle injury that resulted in him being sidelined for half of the 2021-22 NBA season.

Upon his return to fitness, DiVincenzo made 72 appearances for the Warriors, ultimately proving himself a reliable option during a volatile phase for the team when several players departed throughout the season.

In addition to building a reputation as a reliable passer, DiVincenzo proved his shooting ability, scoring almost 40% of his 3-pointers last season.
