Tight end Darren Waller has agreed to a contract extension with the Las Vegas Raiders, the player’s agent Drew Rosenhaus confirmed. The three-year extension is worth $51 million.

“This was one of the most challenging negotiations I’ve encountered,” Rosenhaus admitted, explaining that it is not often that a 30-year-old player is offered a new deal while two years still remain on his current contract.

Waller’s existing two-year, $9.8 million extension signed in 2019 had no guaranteed money remaining. While initially expected to earn $7 million over the next two seasons, Waller now has five years remaining with the Raiders and $66.25 million.

Raiders coach Josh McDaniels expressed his satisfaction with the deal on Saturday, stating, “Darren Waller is an exemplary teammate in every way, and we’re excited to see him continue to grow as a leader on this team.” He furthermore referred to Waller as a committed player who brings a strong work ethic to the team each day.

Waller emerged as a star in 2019 when he made 90 catches for 1,145 yards and three touchdowns. He now ranks second in the all-time NFL charts for tight ends in both catches and yards.
