Left-hander Wade Miley will return to the Milwaukee Brewers after agreeing to a one-year, $45 million contract, sources confirmed on Wednesday. The deal includes up to $1.5 million in potential incentives.

Miley was 2-2 with a 3.16 ERA with the Chicago Cubs last season, however, injuries largely restricted his playing time. The 36-year-old player was placed on the injured list on three occasions last season, including for a sore shoulder.

Plagued by injuries for the majority of his 12-year career, Miley himself observed how he would follow up a healthy season with one filled with injury setbacks. Having made 32 starts in 2017, Miley played just 16 the following season before making 33 appearances for the Houston Astros in 2019. he played just six games for the Cincinnati Reds in 2020 before making 28 starts the following year.

The veteran pitcher will fit into the Brewers’ rotation alongside Brandon Woodruff, Corbin Burnes, and Freddy Peralta. During his time with eight different teams, Miley has amassed a career 4.13 ERA in 292 games.
