The Toronto Raptors will be retiring the No. 15 jersey worn by Hall of Famer Vince Carter. This will make Carter the first Raptors player to receive the honor in franchise history.

According to Josh Lewenberg of TSN, Carter’s jersey will be lifted to the rafters on November 2nd, when the Raptors welcome the Sacramento Kings in their Scotiabank Arena.

Carter entered the league as the Raptors’ fifth overall pick in the 1998 NBA Draft. He spent six and a half seasons in Toronto, making five All-Star appearances and helping the team to two playoff appearances during that time.

Before being traded to the New Jersey Nets midway through the 2004-05 NBA season, Carter played 403 games with the Raptors, averaging 23.4 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 3.9 assists per game. He is also credited for providing credibility to the Raptors, who were a young expansion team at the time.

Interestingly enough, the Nets will also retire Carter’s No. 15 jersey. The team made the announcement back in May, with the retirement ceremony expected to take place at some point during the 2024-25 season.

After his time with the Raptors and Nets, Carter went on to play for six more franchises, including the Orlando Magic, Dallas Mavericks, and Atlanta Hawks. He retired after the 2019-20 season, becoming the only player in NBA history to play a game in four different decades.

I am a reality TV junkie. My dream since I was a kid was to be on Big Brother, but until then you can catch me binge-watching episodes each summer.
