Even if Minnesota Vikings are having second doubts about the $84 million contract they gave quarterback Kirk Cousins back in 2018, they are not ready to show it just yet.

After having mediocre 2018, Cousins struggled through the first two games of 2019 NFL season. So far he completed just 52.4 percent of his passes for 328 yards, two touchdowns, and two interceptions. However, Vikings’ head coach Mike Zimmer said that didn’t change the way he thinks about his franchise QB.

“He’s going to be fine,” – said Zimmer. “We have the utmost confidence in him. He’s in a good place where he’s going to play good this week and continue to play good for the rest of the year.”

Vikings managed to overcome Kirk Cousins’ struggles in Week 1 against Atlanta Falcons thanks to their rushing game and get a 28-12 win. In Week 2, however, Cousins missed some easy looks and had two interceptions which definitely made the difference in 21-16 loss to Green Bay Packers.

Despite Zimmer’s confidence in him, Cousins knows that he has to get out of slumps soon and start being the franchise QB Vikings are paying him to be.

“Believe me, I’m not going to be playing quarterback here if I go out and play the way I did this past Sunday for much longer,”- said, Cousins. “So I understand that, and I look forward to getting out there and playing at a much higher level.”

Cousins will get his chance to improve the impression on Sunday when Vikings meet Oakland Raiders at U.S. Bank Stadium.
