Brooklyn Nets are turning to veterans in an attempt to fill the holes in their roster ahead of the trip to Orlando for the NBA season resume. According to The Athletic‘s Shams Charania, Nets have agreed to deals with Jamal Crawford and Michael Beasley.

Nets found themselves in need of players to fill out their roster after learning that starters Wilson Chandler, De’Andre Jordan, and Spencer Dinwiddie all decided to sit out the rest of 2019/20 due to coronavirus pandemic concerns. The team previously lost All-Stars Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving to season-ending injuries.

Before acquiring Crawford and Beasley, Nets also brought in Tyler Johnson and Justin Anderson.

Jamal Crawford is a journeyman who played with eight different organizations during the 20 years of his NBA career. Playing for Chicago Bulls, Los Angeles Clippers and Phoenix Suns among other teams, Crawford averaged 14.6 points, 2.2 rebounds and 3.4 assists per game. He is also three-times NBA Sixth Man of the Year award winner.

Michael Beasley, on the other hand, is best known as being Miami Heat’s second overall pick in 2008. Although projected to have a big career in the league, Beasley never managed to reach his potential while playing with Heat, Minnesota Timberwolves, New York Knicks and Los Angeles Lakers among other teams.

Beasley, who last played in NBA with the Lakers in February 2019, has NBA career averages of 12.4 points, 4.7 rebounds, and 1.3 assists per game.
