Pro Bowl linebacker K.J. Wright, who was considered the best remaining free agent, is off the market. Wright will be playing in Las Vegas next season after agreeing to a one-year deal with the Raiders on Thursday.

While the Raiders still haven’t made the deal official, Wright himself confirmed it to ESPN’s Josina Anderson.

Wright is joining the Raiders after a productive 2020 NFL season with the Seattle Seahawks. He started all 16 games and contributed with 86 tackles, 10 pass deflections, one forced fumble, and one interception. He also had 2.0 sacks, the first time he registered them since 2016.

The 32-year-old player is expected to provide depth to the Raiders’ linebacker core that just lost Nicholas Morrow and Javin White to injuries. The last season proves he can still play while his experience and leadership could prove useful for the team’s locker room.

K.J. Wright has been in the NFL for 10 years and played all 10 of them with the Seattle Seahawks. He was considered one of the team’s most reliable defensive players and was a starter for the Seahawks team that won the Super Bowl XLVII. Still, the organization opted to part ways with Wright after the 2020 season as they intend to give more opportunities to younger players.
