After being unable to execute a trade for a wing player before the NBA trade deadline, the Cleveland Cavaliers found one on the buyout market. According to The Athletics Shams Charania, the Cavs will sign veteran Danny Green after the 35-year-old player finalizes his buyout from the Houston Rockets.

Green was sent to the Rockets on the trade deadline by the Memphis Grizzlies. However, it became clear that Houston didn’t want to keep him as they preferred to distribute the minutes among their younger player.

Several teams were interested in Green, including the Los Angeles Lakers and the Boston Celtics, but the three-time NBA champion ended up choosing Cleveland’s one-year, $2 million offer.

Over the course of his career, Danny Green has built a reputation as an efficient three-point shooter that provides quality defense. Green spent most of his NBA career with the San Antonio Spurs, helping the franchise win a title in 2013-14 while also adding championship rings with the Toronto Raptors and the Los Angeles Lakers.

Green only played three games in 2022-23 while returning from an ACL injury. He spent less than 45 minutes on the floor in total and averaged just 3.0 points per contest. However, the Cavs are convinced that Green is a player that can help them make a deep playoff run and are counting on his postseason experience to complement their young roster.
