United States women’s national soccer team star Carli Lloyd amazed football fans several months ago when a clip of her kicking a 55-yard field goal surfaced on social media. Lloyd said back then that she was interested in trying to land a kicking job in NFL and it seems like she is still interested in doing that after the dust settles.

“This isn’t just a publicity stunt or something that I’m having fun, just string the media along. I know that I can do it,” – said Lloyd during her appearance on The Rich Eisen Show. “I know that I have the mental capacity in pressure situations. I know that there would be loads of people that want to see me fail. That’s no different than the entirety of my career.”

Still, Lloyd wants to make sure that she has perfected everything before definitely pursuing the job in NFL. According to the 37-year-old forward, she is currently focused on making the USWNT roster for the 2020 Olympics, after which she will “entertain” the idea of playing football.

“I definitely want to entertain it, but I want to be good at it” – she added. “I want to be able to do it. That’s ultimately what it comes down to.”

Carli Lloyd is considered one of the most accomplished female players in U.S. history. She is a two-time FIFA Player of the Year award winner and has played 288 matches with the USWNT in which she scored 121 goals. As part of the national team, Lloyd won two World Cups and two Olympic gold medals.
