Talented USMNT midfielder Luca de la Torre is expecting to embark on a new challenge next season. The San Diego native told reporters on Thursday that he has an agreement with his current club Heracles Almelo that will allow him to leave this summer.

De la Torre has one year left on his contract with the Dutch side and is ready for a change of scenery.

“There’s always been an agreement between myself and the club that I would transfer this summer, with one year left on the contract,” de la Torre said. “I expect [the transfer] to happen, hopefully, sooner rather than later.”

The 24-year-old also added that he doesn’t lack suitors, with several clubs monitoring his situation. He didn’t provide further details except that interested parties are from France, Germany, and the Netherlands.

Luca de la Torre came through the ranks of Premier League/Championship side Fulham and made his debut for the senior team as an 18-year-old player in 2016. However, de la Torre never managed to carve a role for himself on the team and would go on to make just 14 appearances in all competitions in the next four seasons.

Looking to get his career back on track, de la Torre signed with Heracles ahead of the 2020-21 campaign. This proved to be a great move since he became a regular in the team’s starting lineup and earned himself a return to the United States men’s national team.
